Chapter 212 Rushing to Jianye
Chapter 212 Rushing to Jianye
Last Lunar New Year, Yan Hui's house was bustling with visitors, all coming to see his grandfather. After his grandfather passed away, even more people came. At that time, Yan Hui was somewhat dazed; he had no idea what was happening.
When Yan Hui returned home this year, he encountered many people greeting him at the village entrance. He smiled and greeted everyone as he walked to his doorstep.
When he arrived at his doorstep, he hesitated for a moment.
He stopped.
Grandpa is not home.
Yan Hui stood at the door for a few minutes before finally taking out his phone to call home.
He had forgotten about the poor signal in the village, but perhaps a new signal tower had been built this year, and Yan Hui was able to get through on the phone.
Qinglan answered the phone.
There were few phones at home, so at this time of day, it was always her brother who would call, and Qinglan would practically run over to answer the phone.
"Brother, it really is you!" Qinglan's voice was tinged with excitement. "When are you coming back?"
"I've arrived, Qinglan. Hmm. Come out and greet me." Yan Hui's voice was warmer.
"You've arrived? Oh? Then wait for me!" Qinglan hung up the phone and rushed out.
Yan Hui stood at the door and could even hear Qing Lan running around inside.
In less than ten seconds, Qinglan ran out. She was a little shocked to see Yan Hui. She thought she was going to the village entrance to see Yan Hui, but she didn't expect him to be right at the door: "Brother! You're already at the door, come in!"
"Ah, you're here." Yan Hui was pulled by Qing Lan's hand and followed her into the house.
Everything at home remained the same, except for the addition of a photograph in the mourning hall.
"How is Grandma?" Yan Hui asked hurriedly.
“Grandma is doing well,” Qinglan said as she led Yan Hui to her grandmother. Yan Hui was relieved to see that her grandmother was in good spirits.
Grandma is only 72 years old this year and has always been in very good health. To Yan Hui, Grandma is like a mother, protecting him since he was a child. Yan Hui has thought that once he settles down elsewhere, he will bring Grandma to live with him for a while.
When Grandma saw Yan Hui, she looked him over carefully and asked him how he was doing.
"Grandma, I'm doing very well this year. I've made a lot of friends in Jianye, and many people will be coming to visit us for the New Year!" Yan Hui said.
"That's good, that's good, take good care of yourself." Grandma held Yan Hui's hand, unwilling to let go.
When Yan Hui returned this time, he came back alone; his third brother did not come back with him.
Mr. Teng's order was too large. Although he had received a deposit of 25 yuan, Yan Hui still used almost all of the company's funds. Yan Hui had a plan: the large invoice sent from Northeast China was in Lao San's name. Lao San would come to receive the goods and then hand them over to Mr. Teng.
Once Boss Teng finishes this deal, Lao San can come back for the New Year. Yan Hui will then prepare a big New Year's red envelope for Lao San.
The second son didn't come home for the Spring Festival this year. Yan Hui called him, and the second son was in a good mood, saying that business was good during the holiday and he planned to work hard there and come back next year. On the phone, the second son offered to pay Yan Hui back 1 yuan, but Yan Hui refused. He said it wasn't urgent.
The eldest and fourth brothers will both be coming back for the Spring Festival this year, but they won't be back until the 27th or 28th of the twelfth lunar month. Thinking about this, Yan Hui was really looking forward to it; he was determined to show the fourth brother how awesome he was this year!
During this time, Yan Hui's friends began to come over one after another, and Yan Hui was running back and forth between the village and the town every day.
The bosses who came to pay New Year's visits kept coming in an endless stream. The villagers saw this and talked about it. After asking around, they found out that Yan Hui was doing so well outside! His grandmother, parents, sister and relatives and friends all thought Yan Hui was amazing. Yan Hui was always full of energy.
That day, Yan Hui returned home after a busy day, bringing his grandmother a bowl of eight-treasure porridge, as well as some food for his parents and sister.
"After the New Year, when your sister and brother-in-law come home, you should learn from them and not be so hasty in your actions," Grandma said, taking the eight-treasure porridge from Yan Hui.
Yan Hui was used to listening to his grandfather's teachings, so when he suddenly heard his grandmother say this, he was reluctant to accept it: "Grandma, I have no choice. I promised a lot of people last year. If I don't invite them this year, people will think I can't afford a banquet!"
"These people are the same even if they don't host a banquet," Grandma gently shook her head.
“How can that be the same? These are all my friends!” Yan Hui retorted.
"Friends? You're lucky to have three friends." Grandma thought for a moment. "When your grandfather was alive, he helped so many people in the village. Look at us, when our neighbors bullied us, how many people were willing to help us? We still had to rely on ourselves."
"Grandma, it's different. These are my friends, everyone..." Yan Hui wanted to argue, but ultimately didn't say it.
Grandma is too old to know what the outside world is really like. When you're out in the world, you rely on friends. Isn't it because of these friends that I've gotten to where I am today?
Have your so-called family members or relatives ever been of great help to your career?
The more Yan Hui thought about it, the more he felt that his idea was correct.
Yan Hui's parents had worked away from home for many years, but their experience was limited. His grandmother, on the other hand, rarely left the house. Yan Hui had been away for five years, and he made all his own decisions.
Yan Hui received one group of friends after another until the 25th day of the twelfth lunar month.
The day the timber arrived at the station, Yan Hui made a phone call to his third brother.
The call didn't go through.
He called the company again, but still couldn't get through.
I then called Mr. Teng, but still couldn't get through.
Yan Hui was puzzled and felt a vague unease. In this day and age, it was normal to not be able to get through on the phone, but it was a bit strange that neither of them could get through.
After thinking it over, Yan Hui left some money for the restaurant in town and asked his classmate to continue entertaining his friend. He then found a car by himself, went to the train station, and rushed back to Jianye overnight.
Upon arriving in Jianye, Yan Hui went straight to Boss Teng's restaurant. This restaurant was a significant investment; he was certain he could find Boss Teng there.
Upon entering the restaurant, Yan Hui looked around and found that the familiar waiters were gone, the restaurant was temporarily closed, and several people were looking for Boss Teng.
Yan Hui noticed that one of the people looked like a boss. After chatting with him for a few minutes, he learned that President Teng had indeed gone missing.
"Is this boss also looking for President Teng? Does President Teng owe you money, or is there some other problem?" someone asked Yan Hui.
"I don't know, I don't know, I have to go now." Yan Hui lost all emotion and immediately took a taxi to the timber market to see if his timber had arrived.
As long as there's nothing wrong with the timber, everything will be fine.
