Journey 1995:Non-Stop

Chapter 233 Waxing

Chapter 233 Waxing
After his afternoon nap, Yan Hui went out to run business as usual.

Persistence always yields results. After visiting some construction sites three or four times, Yan Hui was able to impress one or two people and secure some business.

It's not just because Yan Hui is sincere, but also because he's knowledgeable in the field.

In short, Yan Hui was never ignorant of the duties of any manager who gave him business.

The day passed quickly. Yan Hui returned to the warehouse after dark, feeling exhausted. However, he still carefully checked the outside and inside, cleaned the area, and then went back to his room to enjoy the air conditioning.

He hadn't eaten yet, and when he checked the time, it was already 8:30. He was starving. After enjoying the air conditioning for a while, he felt much better and finally went out to eat.

I had pretty good luck today. This timber deal I closed will probably earn me 1500 yuan, which is one of the bigger deals I've closed recently.

If this were Jianye, he wouldn't even bother to glance at such a deal.

The area outside the warehouse was bustling with activity. Yan Hui even saw someone selling rice noodle rolls, bought a serving, and thought it was delicious, but it wasn't enough to fill him up.

Yan Hui chatted with the owner of the rice noodle roll shop. The owner was from Guangdong Province, and his business was doing quite well. He was also a very shrewd person. It was hard to say whether he would become a big boss in the future.

After finishing his meal, Yan Hui went back to sleep. He had to get up early tomorrow, so there was no time to talk about anything else tonight.

Yan Hui went to bed at 9:30, but got up at 4:30. Seven hours of sleep filled him with energy. He washed up, got dressed, took his tools, and went out.

When Yan Hui went to clean yesterday, he discovered a problem.

In President Han's office, many of the furniture pieces are made of mahogany, and they are all Burmese rosewood with a good price-performance ratio. Some parts have obvious tiger-skin patterns.

Yan Hui could tell that these rosewood pieces had been moved here for at least three years and had never been maintained.

Since 2015, many high-end home furnishings have been able to use smart devices to maintain a constant temperature and humidity throughout the house year-round, so mahogany furniture doesn't require much maintenance. However, Mr. Han's situation clearly doesn't allow for this. With the air conditioning constantly being turned on and off, and no heating when no one is home in winter, the mahogany furniture has started to deteriorate after three years and needs maintenance.

The wax Yan Hui brought was a natural beeswax he bought yesterday, without silicone oil. He planned to use it to maintain the rosewood furniture today. Perhaps President Han wouldn't care about such a small amount, but maintenance would definitely make it shinier and look better.

Yan Hui arrived around six o'clock, and the security guards let him in immediately.

"You're here so early today?" the security guard asked, somewhat puzzled. "Is there a lot of work to be done today?"

“It’s only right to eat early, brother. Are you coming with me again today?” Yan Hui asked.

"Mr. Han contacted me yesterday and asked about you. I told him the truth, and he didn't say I didn't need to follow you, so..." The security guard sighed.

"It's okay, bro. I feel more at ease with you here. Just sit and have a smoke if there's nothing else to do." Yan Hui handed him another pack of cigarettes.

"No way, my boss will scold me if he sees me smoking." The security guard smiled and accepted the cigarette.

"Look at the time! It's fine if you smoke now, just be careful after 7 o'clock." Yan Hui smiled and walked inside.

Practice makes perfect. After entering the office, Yan Hui found it locked and could only clean the meeting room.

Yan Hui was a bit rushed when cleaning the meeting room yesterday, but there won't be any problems today.

Although the chairs in the conference room weren't made of mahogany, the entire structure, including the table, was made of wood. Waxing is beneficial for any wooden structure; Yan Hui didn't understand the specifics, but Lao Guo had told him.

It took Yan Hui more than half an hour to clean the meeting room, and then he began to wax the tables and chairs.

There were many chairs in the conference room, and Yan Hui worked until after 7 p.m., but had only finished most of it. At that moment, General Manager Jiang arrived and opened the office door for Yan Hui. "General Manager Jiang, is the conference room urgently needed this morning?" Yan Hui asked proactively.

Mr. Jiang stopped and thought seriously for a few seconds: "It's not needed until ten o'clock."

"Understood." Yan Hui took his tools and went to the office first.

The office was actually quite clean; Yan Hui finished cleaning in 20 minutes. Then he started waxing.

When Mr. Han arrived at 8 o'clock, Yan Hui had almost finished waxing.

"Are you waxing this?" Mr. Han couldn't help but ask.

"Yes, it's natural beeswax," Yan Hui explained, to prevent President Han from worrying that there might be something wrong with the wax.

"Oh, okay." President Han left immediately.

At 8:20, Yan Hui finished cleaning the office and returned to the conference room, where he worked until 9:30 before leaving.

The security guard was supposed to finish get off work at 8:30, but Yan Hui finished an hour later, but he didn't complain.

He had never seen a cleaner so diligent in their work; today was truly an eye-opener!

From 6 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., for three and a half hours, Yan Hui worked diligently and meticulously, as if he were accomplishing something extremely important.

"Brother, I'm really sorry, I didn't know what time you got off work, I've kept you from getting home." After finishing everything, Yan Hui wiped his sweat and got up to leave.

"I'm fine, I'm just killing time anyway!" For some reason, the security guard was unusually polite to Yan Hui.

In reality, Yan Hui is just a sanitation worker, practically a temporary worker, with a much lower status than the security guard. But the security guard felt that Yan Hui was special, and even his way of speaking changed.

"Don't worry, it took a little longer today because of the waxing process, it will be fine tomorrow. It won't make it too late for you to get off work tomorrow," Yan Hui explained.

"That's nothing, nothing at all," the security guard laughed, then escorted Yan Hui out of the building.

Yan Hui didn't say much, got on his motorcycle and left. He had closed a deal yesterday and was going to transport timber today; luckily, it wasn't too late yet.

He first went to Geng Zhongxing's place. Geng was not there, but his son was. Yan Hui had a brief talk and agreed on the transportation of 10 cubic meters of timber.

The profit from 10 cubic meters of timber reached a considerable 1500 yuan, a profit margin that Yan Hui, a large wholesaler, could not have imagined before.

However, with difficulties in acquiring customers and long payment periods, the profit margin is not high to be honest.

"My dad told me last time that he would bring you this when you come back," Geng's son said as he was moving goods, handing Yan Hui a small trinket.

"A hygrometer? Why are you giving me this?" Yan Hui asked, puzzled.

“We give one to all our long-term clients.” Mr. Geng’s son was initially worried that Yan Hui wouldn’t recognize it.

"No need, no need, give it to someone else. I don't think this thing is necessary given the moisture content of the wood." Yan Hui found it troublesome to carry this thing. He only had a backpack, which was mostly filled with money, and he didn't bring any other miscellaneous equipment.

Seeing this, Yan Hui thought of his magic bag, which he had given to Song Zhiyuan. Thinking about it, Song Zhiyuan should be about to go to university now, right?
