Chapter 313 Continue the Experiment

Chapter 313 Continue the Experiment
Sitting at the entrance of the laboratory, Yan Hui was carefully reflecting on the past six months.

The experiment's failure didn't bother him much; it was Dr. Luo's final words that were truly hurtful, and Yan Hui didn't even know how to tell Chen Jian about it.

Should we tell Chen Jian or not?
If I tell Chen Jian, will he realize his mistake and then try a different approach?
Will Chen Jian also become disheartened and leave with his wife?
If Chen Jian also leaves, then everything we've done so far will be for naught and meaningless.

The equipment in the lab should still be worth about 600,000 to 700,000 yuan, but that's about it; nothing else will be left.

After thinking for about half an hour, during which Yan Hui also received several business calls, he finally made up his mind not to tell Chen Jian.

Chen Jian argued with his senior for a long time and they each conducted the related experiments several times. Whether he was right or wrong, Chen Jian must have his own ideas. It's not that Yan Hui telling Chen Jian "Dr. Luo told me you were wrong" would help Chen Jian in any way.

Since he chose to stand on Chen Jian's side, Dr. Luo has nothing to do with him anymore.

Yan Hui knew that Dr. Luo might become his competitor in the future, but there was nothing he could do about it; there was only one path left to take.

do not be afraid!
Thinking of this, Yan Hui's mood instantly improved. He turned around and went back to the laboratory to talk to Chen Jian and his wife about the matter.

“President Yan, the temperature in Jinan is too high this season. I think my approach to controlling the experiment is correct.” Chen Jian still had his own ideas.

"You mean, temperature also has a significant impact on the experiment?" Yan Hui asked rhetorically.

"Actually, it's not that big, but our current data isn't accurate. With experiments, once we're fully capable of doing it, the product is like an obedient child; we can fine-tune it however we want. But at this stage, given the size of our lab, we still need to strive for perfection." Chen Jian also seemed somewhat frustrated.

To be honest, Chen Jian didn't know where the problem lay either.

During this period, Chen Jian and Dr. Luo's differences grew increasingly pronounced. Both had conducted several experiments in their respective fields, each leading at least three experiments, but all had failed. According to their experimental analysis, one experiment had more particles and fewer bubbles, while the other had fewer particles and more bubbles.
The two people tried to compromise on the solution, but the final result was that there were more bubbles and more particles.

"I'll send someone over tomorrow to install a large industrial air conditioner here." Yan Hui decided to support Chen Jian to the very end.

This is a rented factory building, and in principle, installing a large air conditioner is really unnecessary. However, Yan Hui has the connections and channels to do so. He can get a second-hand large air conditioner from his brother-in-law, and it won't be difficult to dismantle it later.

"This..." Chen Jian was very embarrassed when he heard Yan Hui's words. "President Yan, that's not what I meant."

"It's alright. Brother Jian, although Dr. Luo and the others have left, I'm still grateful for the months they spent here. I've also looked through your experimental data over the past few months. Although I can't understand the specific data, we've successfully increased the purity. There's no need to discuss who contributed more or less; since it's just the two of you here now, everything you do is right. For any subsequent experiments, if you need any help from me, just let me know, and I'll support you no matter what," Yan Hui encouraged again.

"President Yan, to be honest, I really feel a little sorry for you. Senior Brother Luo and the others are indeed more professional than us. Their only problem is that they haven't operated this kind of equipment before, and their data for several temperature controls isn't very accurate. Anyway, since President Yan still trusts me, I'll do my best." Chen Jian sighed.

His disagreement with Dr. Luo stemmed from his adherence to his scientific thinking, not from a desire for power or personal gain. The ongoing experiments were certainly not what Chen Jian wanted, but that's the nature of science; it allows no room for carelessness. In Chen Jian's experimental plan, Dr. Luo's approach was flawed; this contradiction arose from his own scientific understanding.

Simply put, assuming there are two variables, temperature and pressure, Chen Jian's approach is to determine a fixed temperature and then gradually adjust the pressure; Dr. Luo's approach is to determine a fixed pressure and then adjust the temperature.

Both approaches have merit, but it's impossible to guarantee which is correct. In reality, there are many variables involved in related experiments, such as stirring speed, making actual experiments far more complex than described above.

"Okay, just follow your line of thinking. I can't guarantee improvement in every experiment, but it's good if you improve as a person," Yan Hui said relatively easily.

"I...I'll do my best."

Yan Hui kept his word. The next day, he contacted his brother-in-law and had someone come and install a large industrial air conditioner.

My brother-in-law had heard about Yan Hui's experiments before, and since he was here to see them, Yan Hui showed him around the laboratory.

“I think the polyurethane you disposed of could all be given to furniture factories,” my brother-in-law sighed. “Why don’t you sell these products with bubbles and particles?”

“Brother-in-law, if I want to start a business, I want to be the industry leader. I absolutely cannot allow defective products to leave my company. If I start selling defective products now, my brand will never be established.” Yan Hui has always been uncompromising on this point.

Chen Jian had actually mentioned selling substandard polyurethane before. Even substandard polyurethane is still a good product now, and there are people who want it. It's even far more environmentally friendly than formaldehyde-rich adhesives used in furniture. However, Yan Hui has always refused to allow these products to enter the market because there's no quality control for these substandard products. Each batch is different, and selling them would completely ruin his brand!

As mentioned before, there are two methods for producing polyurethane: one is the "one-step method" and the other is the "prepolymer method." The former is used to produce foam plastics, while the latter is used to produce adhesives.

The "prepolymer method" also has different levels. Yan Hui's single-component polyurethane is currently the most complex to produce. In particular, if you want to make it free of particles and bubbles, it is definitely a top-notch flagship product.

"When are you going to build the factory?" the brother-in-law asked after thinking for a moment.

"The experiments haven't yielded results yet, but I estimate we'll have results around this year. If everything goes smoothly, we should start considering building the factory around this time next year," Yan Hui said.

"Do you have enough money? Do you need me to invest?" The brother-in-law highly approved of Yan Hui's way of doing things.

"Okay, I'll contact you then." Yan Hui knew that building the factory was not something he could handle alone. When the time came, if there was money to be made, he would share it with everyone.
