Being a knight is not easy
Chapter 1 Knight's Breathing
Chapter 1 Knight's Breathing
In the dim canyon, the howling wind blew up sand and stones, and a thrilling battle was taking place.
The young knight squire Robin, dressed in mottled armor and holding a long sword, has a fearless determination in his eyes.
On the opposite side, a group of ragged bandits gathered around like wolves. The weapons in their hands were of varying quality, but they exuded a bloodthirsty aura.
The thieves took the lead in attacking. A burly man swung a huge battle axe and chopped towards Robin with a whistling sound.
Robin was agile and dodged to the side, his battle axe slamming heavily on the ground, splashing up a cloud of dust.
He swung his sword, and the blade cut through the thief's arm, and blood immediately gushed out. However, the thieves were numerous, and Robin was soon surrounded.
He blocked left and attacked right, and every swing of his sword was accompanied by the sharp sound of metal clashing.
There were already several scratches on his armor and sweat was dripping down his forehead, but he did not retreat at all.
A thin thief attacked from behind. Robin sensed the danger, turned around quickly, and blocked the thief's dagger with his sword.
The two were in a stalemate. Robin suddenly exerted force, pushed the thief to the ground, and then killed him with a sword.
The battle entered a white-hot stage, and the canyon was filled with shouts and groans of pain.
Robin's breathing was rapid and heavy, and every breath he took was accompanied by a burning pain, as if his lungs were filled with burning coals.
The sword in his hand became extremely heavy at this moment, as if it was not made of steel, but a towering mountain, pressing down on his arm so much that it ached and he could hardly lift it.
His body was covered with scars, and blood oozed from the wounds, soaking his tattered clothes. Mixed with sweat and dust, it made him look miserable.
The world in front of him began to blur, and the enemy's figure turned into a distorted black shadow in his eyes, and every shake seemed to be mocking his powerlessness.
"I'm a man with a system, how can I die here!" Robin shouted frantically in his heart, the voice was like the roar of a trapped beast, full of unwillingness and determination.
His legs were shaking, but he still stubbornly supported his body. He waved the sword in his hand weakly in front of him, trying to resist the enemies who were coming like a tide.
Just when he was about to be swallowed by the darkness, the crisp sound of horse hooves suddenly rang out.
The sound was like distant thunder at first, and then it approached like a violent storm.
Robin's head shot up, a glint of disbelief in his eyes.
I saw a dozen cavalrymen galloping towards me like black lightning, their armor flashing with cold light in the sun, and the spears in their hands were like a forest, full of murderous intent.
Behind the cavalry, nearly a hundred fully armed infantrymen marched in neat and powerful steps, rolling in like a torrent of steel.
"Reinforcements are coming!" Robin used up his last bit of strength and let out a deafening roar.
This cry, like the bell of dawn, dispelled the fear and despair in his heart.
He felt a new strength rising in his body, the strength of hope and the desire for victory.
The cavalry were the first to charge into the enemy formation, their horses neighing, their front hooves raised high, and they trampled heavily on the enemy.
The spear stabbed out like a poisonous snake, and every attack was accompanied by the enemy's screams and splattering blood.
The thieves were caught off guard by the sudden attack and their formation was instantly thrown into chaos.
The infantry followed, forming a tight line with their shields linked together, forming an impenetrable defensive line.
The longswords and battle axes in their hands were swung under the cover of shields, and every attack was precise and deadly. Under this iron-like offensive, the thieves retreated step by step, and were ruthlessly swept aside like fallen autumn leaves.
Robin was not willing to be outdone. He endured the pain in his body, gripped his sword again, and joined the battle.
Robin was lying on the battlefield covered in blood and dust. His limbs felt as if they had been hit by a sledgehammer. Every muscle was twitching and every bone seemed to be falling apart.
His chest heaved violently, and he gasped for breath. Looking at the sky above his head that was somewhat turbid due to the smoke of war, he felt that his soul was still floating in the thrilling battle just now.
At this moment, a steady sound of footsteps gradually approached.
The leading cavalryman was tall. He reached out and slowly pulled back his mask, revealing a resolute and weathered face. The corners of his mouth lifted slightly in a smile of approval, and he said, "Robin, you did a good job."
This voice was like an electric current, instantly restoring some of Robin's vitality.
He gritted his teeth, supported himself on the ground with his hands, and tried to stand up, but his legs were as soft as noodles and he failed after trying several times.
But his eyes were firm, revealing a spirit of not giving up. After a brief struggle, he finally stood up with difficulty.
He straightened his spine, and even though his body was still shaking uncontrollably, he slammed his right hand hard on his chest with all his might, and let out a cry that resounded throughout the battlefield: "Fight for the lord, until death."
The leading knight was none other than Lord Blot's chief knight, Grand Knight Damia Crown.
He nodded slightly, his eyes full of admiration, looking at the young man in front of him who was covered in scars but still full of fighting spirit, and felt secretly moved in his heart.
Damia stepped forward, patted Robin on the shoulder with her powerful hand, and said, "Good boy, you have brought honor to the territory today. Your bravery will be remembered by everyone."
Robin lay quietly on the cart, his body swaying slightly with the bumps of the wooden board.
His eyes were closed and his face was full of fatigue, but his heart was still in turmoil.
The comrades around him were busy, some were packing up their weapons, some were taking care of the wounded. Everyone was immersed in the busyness and relief after the battle, and no one noticed Robin's actions.
He took advantage of this gap to quietly sink his consciousness into his mind, and the familiar system panel slowly emerged.
Basic Swordsmanship: Increases the power of sword attacks by 10%, Experience: Max
Basic Combat Skills: Increases the power of close combat attacks by 10%, Experience: Max
Robin's gaze lingered on these two lines of words for a long time, his eyes filled with complex emotions.
Looking back on the journey from the initial ignorant exploration of these two skills to reaching their current limits, only he knows the hardships involved.
Countless days and nights of sweating in the training ground and life-and-death trials in battle have brought us today's results.
But the smile quickly faded, as Robin knew that the current achievement was just the end of a stage.
The only way to break through the limits of these two basic skills is to advance to become a formal knight.
"Knight's Breathing Method..." He silently recited the reward that was about to be obtained in his mind, and his eyes revealed a hint of anticipation and determination.
Since becoming a knight's squire, Robin has always dreamed of becoming a formal knight.
In this battle, he made great contributions with his courage and skills, and was one step closer to his dream.
As long as he obtains the Knight's Breathing Technique, he will have the opportunity to officially join the ranks of knights.
