Being a knight is not easy

Chapter 121 Chance Encounter

Chapter 121 Chance Encounter
Robin's eyes were fixed on the movements of the black-robed men.

Just then, someone patted his shoulder gently.

Robin turned suddenly, almost drawing his sword, but he relaxed immediately after seeing who was coming.

"Alan, I didn't expect it to be you." A gentle voice came with a hint of smile.

Standing before Robin was a young woman in a college uniform, her long hair cascading over her shoulders, her eyes as bright as the stars. Her smile was warm and friendly, drawing a warm impression.

"Elena-senpai?" Robin looked at her in surprise. "Why are you here?"

Elina is a senior student at the Knight Academy. Although she comes from a commoner background, her training talent is exceptional, making her a rare commoner genius in the academy. Two years older than Robin, she takes good care of him, and the two have always had a good relationship.

Elina smiled slightly, with a hint of teasing in her tone: "Why, I can't come to the Asawa Ceremony? Or do you think ordinary people are not worthy of appearing at such an occasion?"

Robin quickly shook his head, a hint of embarrassment on his face: "No, that's not what I meant. I just didn't expect to meet you here."

Elina chuckled, her eyes soft and gentle: "It's just a joke, don't be nervous. I heard that you will be attending the ceremony today, so I came to find you specially."

Robin looked at her in surprise: "Looking for me? What's the matter?"

Elina's eyes flickered slightly, and a faint blush appeared on her face: "It's nothing serious, I just... want to watch the ceremony with you."

Robin was stunned for a moment, then nodded: "Okay, Chamberlain and I are together, it will be more lively with more people."

Chamberlain was making faces and was about to speak.

"Master, you are so slow!"

Robin glanced at Chamberlain in confusion. Before he could ask, Elena had already walked up to him and said softly, "Let's go, then. I heard that this year's float parade is particularly exciting."

The three of them walked along the main street. The cheers and music on both sides of the street mixed together, and the atmosphere was warm and cheerful.

Elena walked beside Robin, glancing sideways at him from time to time, with a hint of admiration that was hard to conceal in her eyes. Her steps were light, and her long hair fluttered slightly in the night breeze, as if she was out of tune with the surrounding hustle and bustle, yet harmoniously blending into it.

"Alan, I heard that you've been doing very well in the academy recently." Elina said softly, with a hint of tenderness and approval in her tone, "Even Vice Dean Melinda has a special opinion of you."

Robin paused slightly when he heard the name "Vice Dean Melinda," a look of uncertainty crossed his face. He turned his head to look at Elena, his brows slightly furrowed. "Vice Dean Melinda? She looks at me differently? How come I didn't know?"

Elina was obviously surprised by Robin's reaction. Her eyes widened slightly, and there was a hint of surprise in her tone: "You don't know? Vice President Melinda is one of the three vice presidents of the academy. Not everyone can get her attention. Did you really not notice?"

Robin shook his head, with a hint of confusion in his tone: "I really didn't notice. Vice Dean Melinda...what kind of person is she?" He became even more alert and confused. That woman was actually the vice dean, why did she say that she was just an ordinary noble.

Elina smiled slightly, her eyes full of meaning. "Vice-President Melinda is one of the most mysterious figures in the academy. She hails from an ancient noble family and possesses unfathomable strength, rumored to have surpassed the realm of legendary knights. However, she rarely appears in public, spending most of her time handling affairs deep within the academy. Those who catch her eye are either geniuses among geniuses, or... those who have seen some potential in her."

Robin felt a faint unease after hearing this. He recalled his recent performance at the academy. While it had indeed attracted some attention, he had never imagined that it would alarm a high-ranking figure like Melinda.

"Why is she paying attention to me?" Robin asked in a low voice, a hint of caution in her tone. Elina shook her head, a hint of helplessness in her tone: "I don't know about that. However, being noticed by Vice Dean Melinda may not be a bad thing for you. After all, her resources and influence are not comparable to ordinary people."

Robin scratched his head sheepishly, about to say something, when he noticed a few familiar figures flash through the crowd in the distance. His gaze fixed, and he whispered, "Wait, something seems amiss over there."

Chamberlain and Elina followed his gaze and saw several figures in black robes moving quickly through the crowd. Their movements were stealthy and swift, and clearly they had ill intentions.

"Could it be someone from the Wizarding Council!" Chamberlain exclaimed in a low voice, his face full of shock.

Robin's eyes sharpened, and he whispered, "Be careful, they might have some conspiracy."

Elina nodded, a hint of nervousness in her tone: "Should we notify the guards at the academy?"

Robin shook his head and whispered, "It's too late. Let's follow and see."

Just as the three were about to take action, a loud noise suddenly came from the other end of the street.

Flames and thick smoke rose into the sky, and the crowd fell into chaos in an instant.

Screams and cries were heard mixed together, the originally orderly parade was broken up, and people fled in all directions.

"What happened?" Elena exclaimed, her face full of shock.

Robin's eyes suddenly became sharp, and he whispered, "It's an attack! Quick, we have to evacuate the crowd!"

Just then, more explosions rang out in various corners of the street.

Men in black robes rushed out from the shadows, weapons in hand, and began to launch indiscriminate attacks on the crowd.

There were crazy smiles on their faces, as if they were enjoying the massacre.

"It's someone from the Wizarding Council!" Robin said gritting his teeth, a hint of anger flashing in his eyes.

Amidst the chaotic crowd, Torres slowly walked towards Robin, a sneer on his face and a dark glint in his eyes.

The power of the Soul-Devouring Crystal surged in his body, making every step he took feel oppressive.

"You bastard, we meet again." Torres' voice was low and cold, as if it came from hell.

Robin turned abruptly, his eyes meeting Torres's. A cold glint flashed in his eyes, and he whispered, "Torres, you've really come. Aren't you afraid of arousing public outrage with such a large-scale attack on the Wizarding Council?"

Torres sneered, slowly raised his hand, and a dark energy emerged from his palm. "Public outrage! Who can prove that all this was done by the Wizard Council?"
