Grand Knight Commander Damia was silent for a moment. He looked away from the wreckage on the ground and glanced at everyone. He spoke in a low and serious tone, "This is a trap. Fortunately, you didn't rashly attack the glassware, otherwise the consequences would be disastrous."
He paused, his voice filled with unquestionable authority. "Remember, if you come across anything belonging to a wizard in the future, don't touch it until you're sure it's safe. Wizards' methods are cunning and unpredictable. If you're not careful, you'll be doomed."
Knight Fitz stepped forward, squatted down, and carefully examined the corrosion marks on the ground, his brow furrowed. "This corrosive liquid was obviously carefully mixed by the wizard, and his purpose is to deal with those who try to destroy his experimental subjects. This wizard apprentice is meticulous and ruthless, and must not be underestimated."
Grand Knight Damia nodded, his eyes sweeping over the other items in the cave. He said in a serious tone, "Nothing here can be touched lightly. Fitz, take a few people and search the cave carefully for other traps or clues. The rest of you retreat outside the cave and remain alert."
Knight Fitz immediately ordered several knight apprentices to begin searching the cave, while Robin and others followed Grand Knight Damia to retreat outside the cave.
The sun outside the cave was still bright, but everyone's mood was extremely heavy.
Robin couldn't help but ask, "Grand Knight, that wizard apprentice...what exactly does he want to do? Why did he treat Knight Balma's body like this?"
Grand Knight Damia was silent for a moment, then slowly said, "It's often difficult to fathom the motives of wizards, but one thing is certain—they seek power, whether through magic, experiments, or other means.
"Knight Balmar was a powerful knight in his lifetime, and his remains are undoubtedly excellent experimental material for wizards. This wizard apprentice may not only want to create a monster, but may also be attempting some more dangerous ritual or magic."
Robin's heart tightened when he heard this, and he clenched his fists. "Then we must stop him! We can't let him continue to desecrate the dignity of the deceased!"
Grand Knight Damia glanced at Robin, a hint of approval flashing in his eyes. "You are right. We must not only stop him, but also completely eliminate his threat. However, wizards are cunning and unpredictable, so we must proceed with caution."
At this moment, Knight Fitz emerged from the cave, holding a roll of worn parchment in his hand. "Grand Knight, we found this deep in the cave. It contains some strange symbols and text. It might be a record of a wizard's experiments."
Grand Knight Commander Damia took the parchment and examined it carefully, his brow furrowing ever deeper. "These symbols... appear to be incantations from some kind of summoning ritual. This wizard apprentice might be attempting to do more than just modify corpses; he might be attempting to summon a more powerful being."
"Summon?" Robin and the others felt their hearts sink.
"That's right." Grand Knight Commander Damia closed the parchment and said in a serious tone, "We must find him as soon as possible and stop his plan. Otherwise, the consequences will be disastrous."
He turned to the crowd and said, "Everyone, listen! Return to the barracks immediately and gather more forces. We must conduct a thorough search of this area. We must not allow him the opportunity to complete the ritual!"
Everyone responded in unison and took quick action.
Robin squatted by the campfire, gently stirring the leopard bone soup in the pot with a wooden spoon in his hand.
The rich aroma spread with the rising steam, attracting Thomson's eyes to stare at the soup in the pot, his throat rolling unconsciously a few times.
"I'm most worried about him escaping to another lord's territory," Robin whispered, his brow furrowed slightly, a hint of worry in his tone. "If he does escape elsewhere, we'll be in big trouble. Not only will it become more difficult to track him down, but it could also spark conflict between the lords."
Thomson's attention was completely absorbed by the leopard bone soup, and he didn't even listen to Robin's words. He licked his lips, leaned closer to the pot, took a deep breath, and said intoxicatedly, "This soup smells so good! Robin, your cooking skills are really getting better and better!"
Robin glanced at Thompson helplessly, shook his head, and was too lazy to say anything more to him.
He turned to look at Lily and Eric beside him and found that they were deep in thought, obviously reacting to his words.
Lily hugged her knees and sat by the campfire, staring at the dancing flames, and whispered, "Robin is right. If that wizard apprentice really escaped to the territory of another lord, things will become complicated.
Other lords might think we are incapable of handling our own problems, or even suspect we are deliberately pushing the trouble onto them.”
Eric nodded and took over the conversation: "Besides, we are all very familiar with the wizard's methods. If he really continues his experiments in other territories, the consequences will be disastrous. We must find him before things get out of control."
Robin sighed, set the wooden spoon aside, and said in a deep voice, "But we've searched the entire territory and found no trace of him. It's like he disappeared into thin air."
Lily raised her head, a hint of determination flashing in her eyes. "Maybe we have overlooked something. Wizards are good at hiding and disguising themselves. He may be hiding somewhere we least expect. We need to sort out the clues again and see if there are any details we have missed."
Eric nodded in agreement. "That's right. Perhaps we can start with the experimental records in the cave and see if we can find out his next plan. Although the wizard's style of action is secretive, there are always traces to follow."
Robin pondered for a moment and said slowly, "You have a point. Tomorrow we will go to the cave and search it carefully to see if there are any clues that we have overlooked. In addition, we can also send people to the nearby villages to ask if anyone has seen any suspicious people."
Thomson finally recovered from the temptation of the leopard bone soup. He overheard the conversation and scratched his head. "What about me? What can I do?"
Robin glanced at him and couldn't help but smile: "As for you, just be responsible for distributing the soup to everyone. Only when you are full can you have the strength to work."
Thomson immediately beamed and patted his chest, "Leave it to me! I'll make sure everyone gets the most delicious leopard bone soup!"
Lily and Eric were also amused by Thomson's reaction, and the tense atmosphere eased a little. However, they both knew that the relief was only temporary.
The wizard's threat still exists, and they must find him as soon as possible to avoid a greater disaster.
The four of them sat around the campfire, drinking soup in silence.
Then, Eric and Lily's eyes widened suddenly: "This soup is too..."
