Chapter 27 Dragon Blood Grass
Chapter 27 Dragon Blood Grass (Seeking Follow-up Reading)
Early the next morning, Eric, Lily and Thompson came to the door of Robin's barracks with leopard skins.
They had excited expressions on their faces and were obviously looking forward to the upcoming trip to the market.
"Robin, get up! It's time for us to leave!" Thomson knocked on the door, his voice filled with impatience.
Robin was already up and packing his gear.
Hearing a knock on the door, he quickly opened it and saw three people standing outside, holding the intact leopard skin in their hands. He couldn't help but smile: "You are quite proactive, coming here so early."
Lily smiled and said, "Of course we have to go early. When there are more people in the market, the leopard skin can be sold at a good price. Besides, we still have to buy herbs, so we can't waste time."
Robin nodded, picked up his bag, and followed the three of them.
Winston City is the largest city under Lord Blot's rule, with a permanent population of approximately 1.6. Although not particularly large, as the political and economic center of the territory, it is still bustling.
The city has only one main road, with densely packed shops and stalls on both sides, and other alleys extend out like a spider web, connecting residential areas and workshops.
The four of them walked into the market along the main road and were immediately attracted by the scene before them.
The streets are lined with all kinds of stalls, and the vendors are shouting loudly, selling their goods.
From fresh fruits and vegetables to exquisite handicrafts, to the furs and bones of various wild animals, everything is available.
"Let's go find a furrier first," Eric suggested. "Only a professional furrier can give a good price for leopard skin."
Robin nodded in agreement, and the four of them searched the market for the furrier's stall.
Soon, they found a fur shop that looked larger.
The shop owner was a middle-aged man with a shrewd smile on his face. When he saw the leopard skins in the hands of the four people, his eyes suddenly lit up.
"Hey, dear guests, are you looking for leopard skin?" the shop owner greeted them enthusiastically. He reached out and felt the texture of the leopard skin, nodding with satisfaction. "Yes, the fur is intact and the color is shiny. It is indeed a top-quality product."
Lily asked directly, "Boss, what price can you give me?"
The shopkeeper narrowed his eyes, pondered for a moment, and said, "How about this? I'll give you five gold coins. How about that?"
Robin and Eric looked at each other, feeling somewhat dissatisfied.
The leopard skin is obviously worth more than this amount, and the owner is obviously trying to lower the price.
Eric shook his head and said firmly, "Boss, your price is too low. This leopard skin is intact and the fur is thick. It is worth at least eight gold coins."
The shopkeeper feigned helplessness and spread his hands. "Sir, as you know, the market is down right now, and the fur business is tough. How about this? I'll add another gold coin, making six gold coins. How about that?"
Robin sneered, picked up the leopard skin, turned around and was about to leave: "Since the boss is not sincere, then let's go find another one."
Seeing this, the shop owner quickly stopped them, a smile on his face. "No, no, no, please don't be impatient! Let's discuss it. Seven gold coins, this is my limit, what do you think?"
Lily looked at Robin and Eric, and seeing them nod, she smiled and said, "Okay, seven gold coins is seven gold coins. But, boss, if we have good stuff in the future, we may not come to you."
The shopkeeper nodded repeatedly, quickly took out seven gold coins from the counter, and handed them to Lily: "Don't worry, customer, I will definitely give you a better price next time!"
After the transaction was completed, the four people walked out of the fur store with satisfied smiles on their faces.
Seven gold coins were enough for them to buy several doses of herbs.
"Next, let's go buy some herbs," Robin said. "I remember there's a pharmacy on the east side of the market. The prices are pretty reasonable."
The four of them walked towards the herbal medicine shop, buying some dry food and daily necessities along the way. After arriving at the pharmacy, Robin followed the recipes in the book and selected several herbs that would boost blood and strengthen bones.
Seeing that they bought a lot, the store owner gave them some discounts.
"Gentlemen, I see you are all knight apprentices! This herb must be refined into a potion before it can be taken. Don't even think of using it to assist in your training, as it will only backfire." The shop owner kindly advised Robin and the others before they left.
Robin quickly said, "Thank you for your concern, shopkeeper. Our Knight Commander asked us to buy these things, and we don't know how to use them."
When the shopkeeper heard that it was purchased for the Knight Commander, he no longer cared.
After buying the herbs, the four of them found a small tavern to sit down, ordered some simple food, and chatted while eating.
"With these herbs, we'll be able to drink leopard bone soup for the next few days," Thompson said excitedly. "Robin, you have to make it more often so we can improve our strength!"
Robin smiled and nodded: "Don't worry, as long as you can hunt the leopard, I will be responsible for making the soup."
Lily and Eric also laughed, and the atmosphere was relaxed and happy.
After dinner, the four of them packed up and prepared to return to the barracks.
On the way back, Robin was looking down at the herbs in his hand when a system prompt suddenly sounded in his mind.
A line of text popped up in his vision: "Dragon Blood Grass Found!"
Robin's steps suddenly stopped and he froze in shock.
Dragon's blood grass? Wasn't that one of the herbs they had just bought for three gold coins?
He followed the system's instructions, quickly scanning the surroundings, and finally locked onto an old man pushing a cart.
The cart was filled with messy grass and looked inconspicuous, but Robin's vision clearly marked the locations of several dragon blood grasses and Cattleya roots.
These are some of the herbs he just learned about from herbal documentaries in the past few days.
"What's wrong?" Eric asked in confusion when he saw Robin suddenly stop and patted his shoulder.
Robin came back to his senses and smiled casually: "It's okay, I saw something interesting."
After he finished speaking, he quickly walked towards the old man pushing the cart and blocked his way.
The old man became nervous when he saw several young men in leather armor and swords suddenly blocking his way. He quickly stopped pushing the cart and asked respectfully, "My lord knights, what can I do for you?"
Eric looked at the weeds piled on the cart, frowned, and knocked on the cart with his scabbard, his tone a little impatient: "Old man, don't you understand? What are these things?"
The old man quickly explained: "These are the weeds I collected in the mountains and prepared to send to the lord's mansion."
Hearing the words "Lord's Mansion", Eric's momentum suddenly weakened a bit, and his tone became more restrained: "Oh, so that's how it is."
Robin calmly walked to the cart, picked up a few dragon blood grass and Cattleya roots from the grass pile, and quickly stuffed them into his pocket.
Seeing that Robin had only taken a few weeds, the old man didn't care much and didn't even raise his eyelids. It was obvious that he had no idea the value of these weeds.
