Chapter 29 Beast Tide
Chapter 29: Beast Tide (Part 2)
The city bells suddenly rang, and the low and rapid bells echoed in the air, ringing a full twelve times.
Every sound seemed to knock on people's hearts, carrying a heavy and urgent sense of oppression.
Robin suddenly opened his eyes, his brows furrowed and his expression serious.
He stood up quickly, his eyes swept towards the direction where the bell sound came from, and an ominous premonition surged in his heart.
"Twelve bells..." Lily murmured softly, her face turning pale. "This is the alarm that the city is facing a major crisis!"
Eric also stood up, gripping the sword at his waist tightly, and asked nervously, "What happened? Is it a monster attacking the city? Or an enemy invasion?"
Thomson seemed a little flustered, his voice trembling slightly: "What should we...what should we do?"
Robin took a deep breath and forced himself to calm down. The more things were like this, the more he couldn't panic. He quickly analyzed the potential crisis and said in a deep voice, "No matter what happens, we can't just sit there and wait for death. Let's report to the main parade ground first and see what instructions we have."
The four of them quickly packed up their things and rushed towards the parade ground.
The military camp's parade ground is located outside Lord Blot's castle, and the parade ground is on the other side.
The streets were in chaos, people were running around in panic, vendors were scrambling to pack up their stalls, children were crying and looking for their parents, and the whole city was in chaos.
Robin ran while observing the surrounding situation.
He saw a group of fully armed soldiers rushing towards the city wall, their faces full of tension and vigilance.
Clearly, a crisis is imminent.
"Faster! Faster!" Robin urged, speeding up his pace a little more.
When they arrived at the camp, they found that a large number of soldiers and knights had gathered there.
Grand Knight Commander Damia stood on the platform, commanding the crowd with a solemn expression. His voice was loud and powerful, instantly drowning out the surrounding noise:
"Everyone, listen up! Immediately follow the predetermined plan and proceed to your respective defensive positions! Archers on the city walls, take up their positions, and the knights must assemble and stand by! The logistics team will be responsible for evacuating civilians. Ensure the safety of the people!"
Robin and the other three quickly ran to their own team and waited for further instructions.
Grand Knight Commander Damia's gaze swept across the crowd, finally stopping on Robin and the others, and he nodded slightly.
"Robin, Eric, Lily, Thompson!" he shouted, "The four of you, follow Knight Fitz and go to the east side of the city wall for support! That's the weak point in the defense, you must hold it!"
"Yes!" the four answered in unison and quickly followed Knight Fitz towards the east side of the city wall.
On the way, Knight Fitz briefly explained the situation to them: "Knight Malizzi has been sent to investigate the wizard incident and is temporarily away from the lord. Therefore, for the next period of time, you will all be under my command. According to the scouts' report, a large group of magical beasts is approaching the city. Their number is far greater than before, and they seem to be commanded by a high-level magical beast. We must defend the city walls and must not let them break through the defense line!"
Robin's heart sank. The threat posed by the monsters was far more serious than they had imagined. He gripped his sword tightly, his eyes determined: "We will definitely hold on!"
When they arrived at the east side of the city wall, they found that many soldiers and knight apprentices had gathered there.
In the distance outside the city wall, dust was flying, and one could vaguely see a dark group of monsters rushing towards the city.
Their roars and footsteps mixed together, as if the earth was shaking.
"Prepare for battle!" Knight Fitz shouted. The archers on the city walls immediately drew their bows, and the knights gripped their weapons, ready for battle. Robin stood at the edge of the city wall, his gaze fixed on the distant herd of monsters. His heartbeat raced, but his heart remained remarkably calm. He knew this battle would determine the fate of the city, and the lives of each of them.
"Lily, Eric, Thompson," he whispered, "Remember, we are a team. No matter what happens, we must support each other and never fall down!"
The three of them nodded, determination glittering in their eyes.
The group of monsters was getting closer and closer, their roars were deafening, and their hideous faces gradually became clear in the dust.
Robin stood on the city wall, his eyes blazing, his longsword clenched tightly in his hand, his knuckles turning slightly white from the effort. He took a deep breath, forced himself to calm down, and then quickly snatched a powerful bow from the hands of an archer beside him.
"Lend it to me!" Robin whispered, with unquestionable firmness in his tone.
The archer was stunned for a moment, but when he saw the determination in Robin's eyes, he nodded and stepped aside.
Thompson stood beside Robin, his face pale and beads of sweat oozing from his forehead. He asked nervously, "Robin, when will Knight Commander Malizzi return? Is he... is he okay?"
Robin heard the worry in Thompson's tone, turned to look at him, and found that his eyes were full of anxiety.
It was clear that Thompson was very worried about his uncle, Knight Commander Malizzi.
Robin patted Thompson's shoulder and said in a calm and firm tone, "Don't worry, Knight Commander Malizzi is very powerful and experienced. He will be fine. What we need to do now is to defend the city wall and wait for him to return."
Thomson nodded, but the worry in his eyes hadn't completely dissipated. He gripped the spear tightly and whispered, "I hope so... I hope he can come back safely."
Robin said nothing more. He knew that comfort at this moment would only have a temporary effect. True confidence came from their own actions.
He quickly pulled the bowstring and locked his eyes on a high-level magical beast that was rushing in the front in the distance.
It was a huge wolf-shaped monster, covered with dark scales, with bloodthirsty red light flashing in its eyes.
It was extremely fast and rushed to the city wall in the blink of an eye.
"Whoosh-"
Robin released the bowstring, and the arrow shot out like lightning, accurately hitting the monster's eye.
The monster let out a shrill howl, and its huge body fell to the ground with a bang, stirring up a cloud of dust.
"Well done!" Eric praised from the side, with the sword in his hand already unsheathed, ready to fight at any time.
Lily stood on the other side of Robin, with the short bow in her hand also fully drawn, and her eyes were as sharp as an eagle.
Her breathing method has reached its peak, and there are faint energy fluctuations around her body.
Robin stood on the city wall, the strong bow in his hand was like a flash of lightning. The bowstring was constantly pulled and released in his hand, and arrows shot towards the group of monsters under the city wall like raindrops.
His movements were smooth and swift, like a precise machine, and every arrow carried a deadly threat.
"Whoosh-whoosh-whoosh-"
