The real life of an American police officer: Winning over others with virtue
Chapter 106 Leaving
Chapter 106 Leaving
Out of the corner of his eye, Eric noticed the various hard drives inside the backpack and was somewhat surprised.
This mysterious driver's method of intrusion is quite unique, more like an assassination. Wait, why does it give off a spy vibe?
Eric looked at the broad back of the man who had already reached the door and said, thinking that the man would stand up for a prostitute who should have little to do with him and risk his identity to kill the gangsters.
“McCall, like you asked me in the car before, can I ask you a question?”
McCall stopped abruptly, turned to look at Eric, and memories of the car flashed through his mind.
Are you a good person or a bad person?
McCall paused for a moment, then began to think seriously. Fragments of memory flashed through his mind like movie frames, and finally he shook his head at Eric.
"I do not know."
After he finished speaking, he prepared to open the door and walk out, but at that moment, Eric's voice came again.
"Dozens of children have gone missing in this area, and this gang is very likely the mastermind behind it all, with Terry possibly being one of the victims."
McCall stopped again and looked straight ahead.
"Interested in joining my operation?"
Hearing this, McCall opened and closed the door repeatedly, the door shut in his hands several times. Finally, when he was about to close it, he stopped and banged his forehead against the door, making a loud thud.
He then turned around and looked at the smiling Eric with a helpless expression.
"Officer, did you know I would join?"
Eric laughed and said, "Because you are a good person, I see a chivalrous spirit in you."
"Chivalry?" McCall asked, puzzled. He could understand the first part of what was said, but he only vaguely understood the latter part.
"Never mind, so I'm curious why I'm a good person?"
Eric said calmly, "Only good people are unsure of who they really are. For example, I don't know whether I'm a bad person or a good person."
The moment he finished speaking, McCall stopped and looked at Eric, a hint of camaraderie in his eyes, and smiled helplessly.
"Ok."
As he spoke, he looked at Aigur, whose face was growing increasingly pale, and calmly asked, "What were your original thoughts?"
Eric gestured to the counter on the right that resembled a safe.
"I don't ask for too much, I just need to prove that he did indeed do it."
“Good!” McCall nodded, staring at Aiguer to show that he understood Eric’s meaning.
"Then let's begin, officer!"
"Yah!"
As a result, Eric witnessed a rather brutal interrogation scene.
This was the first time he had witnessed interrogation techniques in a very direct way, which even made him a little uneasy.
It's not about the gore, but rather the tone of voice accompanying the actions.
It's like that creepy feeling when someone whispers in your ear while you're just asleep.
What frustrated him most was that McCall, whether he noticed the change in his expression or had a wicked sense of humor, continued to teach him while doing so.
He managed to get the Interrogation lv1 (Beginner) skill onto his personal panel.
Within minutes, Aegur, who had been holding on, was on the verge of death, and McCall handed him a file folder with his bloodied hands.
Are you the devil?
Eric wanted to say those words, but he swallowed them back and took the briefcase from McCall's hand.
“Time to go.” McCall took some tissues from his backpack, wiped the blood off his hands, and then put them back. Eric glanced at the dying Aegur, whose eyes were filled with nothing but a thirst for a quick death, and fired a shot without thinking.
Blood gushed from Aigur's forehead as he slumped in a chair, the neon lights behind him shining as if welcoming him to hell.
Before he could disappear from sight, Eric and McCall had already opened the door and gone out.
As mentioned before, the time was almost up, and the noise around us indicated that the people outside had discovered the body downstairs.
Eric glanced at McCall instinctively. Compared to this experienced and capable man, Eric was still somewhat lacking in experience.
Compared to McCall, he was like a kid waving a gun. Simply put, McCall was a professional, while he was a self-taught amateur.
Sure enough, McCall had prepared a route for both the intrusion and the escape, and he said calmly.
"Come with me."
After saying that, he walked towards the passageway ahead.
Eric obediently followed behind.
Before long, they entered a very hidden fire escape, then moved to the storage room at the back, and then came out again, went down to the first floor through another fire escape, and then came out from the kitchen on the first floor.
The whole process went incredibly smoothly. Even though there were people along the way, they only glanced at McCall in his repairman's clothes and casual attire that didn't look like those of a customer, before continuing with their own business.
Finally, inexplicably, they ended up back in the original restaurant.
The Russians who were originally guarding the entrance to the passageway had disappeared, as if they had received a message and rushed over to check.
This is equivalent to them circling around behind these people and then leaving gracefully.
Eric was utterly amazed by this series of actions and kept glancing at McCall.
Noticing the gaze, McCall looked at Eric and calmly said, "You need a blueprint."
Eric immediately understood and realized what was going on.
"We're splitting up here?" McCall asked before he could react.
“OK!” Eric smiled, looking at the restaurant where people were still chatting and laughing, and just like in the car, he didn’t stop talking.
"But will we have a chance to meet? I'd like to learn from you."
Having finally found such a worthy and chivalrous person, he naturally wouldn't let the opportunity to learn from him slip by.
Compared to these highly trained individuals, he is, in a sense, just like the rookie Annie, relying entirely on his talent and brute force, without any basic knowledge or training.
Upon hearing this, McCall merely glanced at Eric, said nothing, and sped away.
"I have a feeling we'll meet again."
Eric looked at McCall, who was already several people ahead of him and had left without saying a word, shook his head, chuckled, and followed him out of the restaurant.
Finally, I made way for one Russian after another who hurried in through the outer passageway, walked past them, left the Russian-style building, and walked down the street.
Eric turned to his right and saw that McCall had unknowingly disappeared into the alley.
He thought for a moment, then headed to the left side of the street.
Although someone like McCall, who lives in seclusion in the city, would certainly choose the most suitable route to escape the surveillance range of the street cameras and leave unnoticed.
But he didn't need to, because he was a policeman, and the way he got here couldn't withstand close scrutiny, so he had his own methods and tricks.
Of course, he would also selectively avoid monitored areas.
