The real life of an American police officer: Winning over others with virtue
Chapter 203 Iron Plate
Chapter 203 Iron Plate
"That was fast." Eric's gaze immediately fell on the handle of the back door.
A very faint metallic scraping sound came from the back door, followed by the handle being slowly turned at millimeter-level speeds.
The door was pushed open a hairline crack, pausing for a few seconds. A tiny tubular camera stealthily slipped in, silently scanning the rear area.
“Professional.” Eric remained motionless, like a cold stone, still lurking in the innermost shadowy corner at the bottom of the stairs.
Eric steadily rested the Benelli M4 shotgun against his shoulder, the muzzle slightly raised, anticipating the height and path the enemy would take after the door opened.
Finding no obvious threat, the person outside widened the door slightly. A figure wearing soft-soled shoes and carrying a G36 automatic rifle equipped with a tactical light slipped in like a cat, pressed against the inner wall of the door, and immediately scanned the warehouse door and the area above the stairs.
A second figure then slipped in, positioned to guard the side and rear of the first person, towards the entrance to the hall.
The two moved smoothly and made almost no noise.
As for why Eric knew what the two were wary of, it was because the two worked together: the first light shone on the dark space above the stairs, while the second light shone on the door leading to the foyer and the direction of the warehouse.
But the two were completely unaware that Eric was hiding in a blind spot at the bottom of the stairs, a blind spot for humans that was completely out of their sight.
In a flash, Eric moved, not suddenly, but silently like a shadow flowing by. At the moment he pulled the trigger, his body instinctively leaned slightly to the side.
boom!
A deafening roar echoed violently through the narrow stairwell and the rear area, as shotguns spat out scorching flames and deadly slugs.
At a distance of less than five meters, the terrifying stopping power of the slug exploded instantly! The upper body of the first enemy burst into a cloud of blood mist, and the huge impact slammed his entire body up and crashed backward onto the second enemy who was right behind him.
Before the first person could even let out a short scream, Eric's second shot roared without pause!
boom!
The second person, struck by the residual force of the slug and the corpse of his comrade, had his chest and abdomen mangled beyond recognition and was clearly beyond saving.
The impact of the two corpses slammed the back door shut, instantly blocking the already narrow passage with bodies and blood.
"Two shots, two bodies. The back door is temporarily blocked by two corpses!" Eric absorbed the information from the two corpses as they slammed the back door shut again. The thought flashed through his mind and quickly retreated.
The loud gunshot sent a jolt through the hearts of the three remaining men outside the door! They instinctively tried to move, but the bodies of their two comrades blocked the narrow back door, instantly disrupting their attack.
The next second, they immediately and decisively started firing blindly at the back door, bang bang bang bang bang bang!
Bullets tore through the back door, leaving behind numerous bullet holes through which light shone.
All of this happened in the blink of an eye, and Eric's eyes remained as cold as ever, without a trace of emotion.
"They need time!"
He focused half his attention on the front hall, since the enemy was attacking from both sides, and it wasn't hard to imagine that the group of six enemies in front already knew what had happened.
The gunshot is the signal that the front door is about to be opened!
Almost as soon as the echoes of the three men outside the door began firing blindly at the back door, before the gunfire had even subsided,
The six-man squad at the front gate was alerted by the gunfire from the rear area. Led by Ralph, they completely abandoned stealth and decisively stormed the door!
At the same time, Eric heard a loud banging on the door. Apparently, the six men in front thought their comrades at the back door were engaged in a fierce firefight with him and wanted to break down the door to provide support or launch a pincer attack.
The next second, a burst of automatic weapon fire erupted! The gunshots were like popping beans, bullets tearing wildly at the door panels and frame separating the small door, sending wood chips flying everywhere!
They began a full-scale assault on this barrier that separated the inside from the outside!
The intense firepower from both sides forced Eric to hunch over, daring not to peek out for fear of being hit by stray bullets from the suppressive fire.
"That's the difference between an ordinary person and someone with experience," Eric cursed inwardly. "Damn it, faster than expected! The door won't hold for long! Our position is going to be exposed; we have to move it!"
The small isolation door was teetering on the brink of collapse under the onslaught of fire. Eric knew that once the door broke, his huddled corner at the bottom of the stairs would be completely exposed to direct fire.
Without the slightest hesitation, Eric leaped out from under the stairs the instant the enemy's fire subsided and they repositioned themselves! He didn't rush into the front hall or the warehouses and rooms ahead to commit suicide.
Instead, he used his strength to leap over the stair railing and onto the stairs, pressing his back against the side wall and facing the rickety isolation door. He steadily shouldered his Benelli M4 shotgun, locking the muzzle firmly against the door frame area.
The small door was kicked open, and two dark figures flashed out from the outside. Eric pulled the trigger, driven entirely by instinct and feeling.
Boom boom!
Two shots were fired in quick succession, followed by a muffled groan of pain from behind the door.
Without confirming the outcome, Eric immediately retreated up the stairs, stopping steadily on the landing at the corner of the stairs, a blind spot between the upper and lower sections.
Just as he said, the gunfire would become even more intense, with bullets blasting straight into the wall he had just been leaning against.
These people do know how to locate sounds.
Bang bang bang bang bang~
In the darkness, amidst the intense gunfire and the sight of rubble falling from the wall, Eric managed a weak smirk. With his left hand, he angled his Benelli M4 over his shoulder, adjusting the gun to expose the magazine opening, while his right hand swiftly pulled four slugs from his belt.
Two bullets are placed side by side in a row, for a total of four. With fingertips pressed against the cartridge case and thumbs against the bottom of the cartridge case, the elbows are used to push the two bullets that are pressed together into the magazine opening at once. Then, the next two bullets are pushed in in the same way.
In the blink of an eye, four single-headed bullets were loaded into the magazine.
Having completed this step, Eric continued to steadily shoulder the Benelli M4 shotgun. He could already hear the commotion ahead; compared to those behind, the enemies at the front door were moving faster.
Clearly, this was a tactical coordination. The front door was unobstructed, making it easier to launch a surprise attack, while the back door was blocked by corpses, making it more difficult to enter.
The narrow space and the fact that the defender was familiar with the terrain were his advantages.
So Eric wasn't worried at all; instead, he wanted to see what these people were planning to do.
Undoubtedly, the pressure has shifted to the enemy.
What Eric didn't know was that the pressure he was putting on was so great that even after the gunfire subsided briefly, no one dared to take any further action.
In the café's lobby, Ralph avoided the direct line of fire from the small partition door, looking at the half-open door and the two gruesome corpses beneath it. The heavy pressure in the air made him unconsciously lick his dry lips.
Who exactly is inside?
Ordinary people could never do this, especially in this completely dark environment. Their reaction time would be impossible to be so fast. Moreover, the enemy's shooting speed was terrifying. The two people in front of them were clearly quick in their movements, rushing in one after the other, and were killed in the blink of an eye!
The two gunshots rang out so closely that they sounded almost like a single shot. No kidding, he almost thought the other side had only fired one shot.
Then, looking at his three companions who dared not move forward, Ralph couldn't help but curse inwardly: Fuck! That's terrifying!
It seems they've kicked a hornet's nest.
