Chapter 309 Purge
Eric's right wrist, holding the gun, showed no noticeable upward movement due to recoil. Thanks to the high-tension and fast-return characteristics of the CAR system, the muzzle completed a second lock within an extremely narrow range.

boom!
A second shot rang out immediately afterward.

The bullet once again pierced precisely through the gap in the railing and entered the target's exposed neck.

The screams were abruptly cut off by the sharp blade.

The seventh person's body stiffened abruptly, then went completely limp, his head drooping between the railings, and he fell silent.

The dull thud of the bullet piercing the neck bone and the abrupt end of the scream were like cold awls, piercing Florian's ears as he reached the landing between the second and third floors.

His steps suddenly froze at that moment. Looking down at his men, his head slumped against the railing, his body limp, clearly indicating that he was not going to survive.

A chill instantly ran down Florian's spine, replacing his previous rage.

This efficiency and terrifying marksmanship are definitely not typical of police or gang feuds.

"Damn it!" Florian looked down at the dim light below, lowered his voice, and squeezed out a curse through gritted teeth. He abruptly stopped his downward steps and instead retreated without hesitation, even with a hint of haste, rushing up to the third floor in three strides.

The echo of the second gunshot had not yet completely dissipated in the confined space.

After firing the second fatal shot, Eric's right wrist, holding the gun, swiftly and smoothly rotated back from the stair railing, pointing once more at the half-open door that had already been pierced by the gun.

Inside the door, there was deathly silence.

Only after the sixth corpse fell to the ground did no further sound come from it, neither breathing nor any other movement.

Without hesitation, Eric fired a shot as soon as he caught a glimpse of movement under the light slit at the bottom of the left-hand door in the middle section, making a deterrent shot.

boom!
The bullet pierced the door panel.

The breathing behind the door stopped instantly, followed by the sound of frightened movement, clearly indicating that they had been scared away and were hiding deeper into the room.

Taking advantage of this gap, Eric, using the door frame as cover, once again made an extremely rapid peek, his line of sight synchronized with the muzzle of his gun, scanning the near-corner area inside the door.

There was no one there, only corpses lying on the ground.

Eric slipped into the room.
This is a room with a dilapidated table in the center, on which are scattered syringes, tin foil, a lighter, and some small plastic bags and mineral water bottles whose original condition is no longer recognizable.

Several storage cabinets stood against the walls, their doors wide open, filled with a jumble of clothes and empty bottled water.

But the most jarring thing was the lone iron bunk bed in the very center of the room.

A young woman was lying on the bed.

Her clothes were disheveled, her hair was greasy and stuck to her forehead and cheeks, her eyes were wide open, staring blankly at the peeling paint on the ceiling, her breathing was weak and slow, and her chest rose and fell only slightly.

Eric lowered his eyelids slightly and glanced at the woman's exposed arm, which was covered with alternating old and new needle marks, some of which had turned blue or purple, and some still had fresh bloodstains.

She lay there quietly, unresponsive to Eric's intrusion, the fierce gunfight that had just taken place outside, or the smoke and blood that filled the air.

Eric sighed inwardly. This place was probably more than just a transit point; it was a den of iniquity where drugs destroyed willpower and trampled on humanity.

These kidnapped or lured girls were already completely controlled by drugs, turning them into mindless zombies, before they were even sold or forced into other acts. A brief silence fell outside, but Eric could still tell there was an enemy in the room on the left side of the middle section, because they had just been intimidated.

There might be more enemies in the second room on the right at the end of the corridor.

Regardless, securing the flanks was the priority. Eric adjusted his breathing slightly and peered over the shoulder.

The corridor was dark, and the people inside the rooms dared not come out; their heavy breathing rose and fell with each other.

Eric picked up a bottle of mineral water from the table and threw it forcefully at the door of the room on the left side of the middle section. In this situation, this trick always worked, and he wanted to bring the dead silence to life.

*Thud!* The sound of a mineral water bottle hitting a wooden door was unusually clear in the deathly silent corridor.

At the same instant the sound rang out, the door on the left side of the middle section suddenly opened a wider gap from the inside, and a hand holding a pistol frantically reached out, attempting to fire blindly outwards.

Eric flashed out from the edge of the door frame like lightning, instantly switching from a high ready stance to a modified Weaver stance, sideways to reduce the projection.

The other person's arm and part of their shoulder had just emerged.
boom!
Eric fired a shot that struck the small section of the man's shoulder that was sticking out. A muffled groan of pain came from inside the door, and the pistol that had just been sticking out clattered to the floor of the corridor.

Eric moved quickly, rapidly approaching the doorway on the left while using the narrow space of the corridor to widen his field of vision.

As he approached, the eighth man inside the door, who had been shot in the shoulder, was momentarily panicked and unbalanced due to the excruciating pain and the loss of his weapon. He instinctively tried to shrink back inside the door and retreat.

Thanks to the increased field of vision from the rapid movement and the angled view, Eric had locked onto the increasingly clear outline of the head behind the door frame.

boom!
The second shot rang out, and the bullet pierced the skull of the eighth man. Inside the door, only the heavy sound of the body falling to the ground and a suffocating silence remained.

Eric paused briefly at the doorway, then quickly scanned the area with his probe to confirm that there was no further threat near the corner inside the door.

Instead of entering, he quickly turned around and moved forward, naturally switching to the CAR system, and turned the gun towards the second closed room on the right.

Hearing the commotion inside caused by the gunshot, Eric quickly fired a shot towards the lower part of the door frame of the second room on the right.

Bang! The bullet struck the door frame with a loud sound. At the same time, he quickly slid in a low posture and silently moved to the other side of the door, confirming that there was no threat above the stairs.

Next, press yourself against the wall, adopt the CAR gun-holding posture, minimize your silhouette, and aim the gun at any figure that might appear at the doorway.

If someone inside the room hears gunshots at the door and screams from next door, they will likely conclude that he is launching a full-scale attack.

Tension and fear can drive them to make wrong decisions, either rushing out to help or opening the door to check.

If the other party doesn't take any action, then he will go straight to the third floor, where Kimmy and Amanda will most likely be.

But in just a second, the door creaked open from the inside, and the ninth man with a pistol rushed out first, pointing his gun at Eric's original spot.

His side was completely exposed to Eric's gun, who was already waiting on the other side.

At a distance of less than half a meter, the CAR system's advantage at extremely close range was fully demonstrated. Eric didn't need to aim at all; relying on muscle memory and directional instincts, he pulled the trigger instantly.
