I'm working on Marvel's Spider-Man in American comics.
Chapter 29 Spider Lady
Chapter 29 Spider Lady
"It's time for Peter Parker to go home."
The New York night wind blew across Spider-Man's mask, carrying with it the lingering sound of gun smoke and sirens. He cast one last glance at Herman, surrounded by the media—the guy was talking nonstop to the cameras, like a washed-up actor finally getting a primetime spot. Very well, let Herman enjoy this final spotlight.
He used a rather poor excuse to explain why he didn't go home so late at night. Aunt May would definitely start nagging him again. Besides, he just received a text message from Tony Stark on his phone, asking him to go to the Avengers Building to have a chat tomorrow afternoon.
"Although the Avengers knew my identity when I was carried back to Avengers Tower, it's not very nice to invade my privacy so directly. Wow!"
Peter stopped swinging when he saw a woman standing upright between two glass curtain walls. The hem of her beige windbreaker fluttered in the wind, her sunglasses reflected the lights of New York, and she hadn't spilled a single drop of coffee in her two cups.
"I've been watching you for a long time, Spider-Man." The woman tucked a lock of her long, dark chestnut hair behind her ear. "We need to talk."
"Wait, I've heard your voice."
Peter thought the voice was familiar and remembered something. Fragments of memory broke into his mind: "It's you, you are the one who communicated with me in my dream?"
The woman smiled.
"Let me introduce myself. My name is Julia Carpenter, the messenger of the Web of Destiny. You can also call me Mrs. Spider."
Spider Lady.
Anyone who knows Spider-Man will definitely think of the blind old lady in a wheelchair in the 94 Spider-Man. And if we talk about the second-generation Spider-Woman Julia Carpenter...
Most people think of the epic masterpiece "Mrs. Spider" in Sony's Spider-Verse. Many people don't remember that she is actually the second-generation Spider-Woman.
Fortunately, the MCU-based Marvel Universe doesn't have any traces of the Sony Universe, which leaves Peter scratching his head. After all, the first Spider-Woman was still in high school, while the second Spider-Woman was not only older but had already become Mrs. Spider. Add to that the other obvious differences from the MCU, and he's completely lost in the timeline of this universe.
"Well, ma'am. What did you want to talk about? Magic or divination?"
"How about we have a cup of coffee together?"
A few minutes later, the two Spider-people were drinking coffee together on the top of the Empire State Building. Peter looked at the charlatan cautiously and asked.
"I heard you say in my dream, find another spider, was that you, ma'am?"
"I won't let you look for me. I'm the messenger of the Web of Fate, merely delivering its message. Besides, I roughly know what you want to ask. I'm not blind."
Mrs. Spider didn't drink her coffee, seemingly just holding it in her hands to keep it warm. She looked out at the New York City skyline at night, as if gazing at some invisible latitude and longitude. "Have you heard of the multiverse?"
"Um... yes. Reed Richards completed a vague observation of other multiverses in 2008, although everyone could only replicate his experimental results without understanding the underlying principles."
"The Web of Fate is a higher-dimensional being that spreads its power across countless universes through spider totems. Most Peter Parkers will be bitten by a radioactive spider, which is the anchor of fate."
Peter had known this setting for a long time, but he couldn't reveal that he knew it, so he had to listen to Mrs. Spider's nagging again.
"And among the countless spider totems, you are also a very special existence. You didn't become Spider-Man just because Ben Parker didn't die."
Peter choked on his coffee and couldn't help but wave his hand. He then looked at Mrs. Spider, who just smiled and said, "Actually, you should have been born three years later in this universe. But for some reason, the nodes of the web of fate changed, and a special totem appeared - you are the 'chief'." "What...chief?"
Peter knows that there are three special totems in the Spider-Verse: "Alien," "Bride," and "Descendant," representing three different Spider-powered individuals. But what is the Patriarch? A brand new Spider-totem created because of him?
Julia didn't intend to explain anything, but instead turned the topic back to what had just happened. "As the clan leader, you possess the ability to respond to the Web of Fate. Whenever the Web of Fate begins to vibrate, it indicates that there's a problem with that world's Spider Totem. You can then travel through the multiverse to the place where fate is fluctuating, helping that world's Spider-Man repair the broken Web of Fate."
"I'm not even sure I can help New York, ma'am. How can I help the Spider-Man of the multiverse? Is there no one else in the multiverse? The Multiverse Avengers or something?"
Peter put his coffee aside and spread his hands. Julia just looked at him quietly with a smile.
Peter looked at her in silence for a long time, then sighed helplessly.
"Okay, what should I do?"
"Soon, you'll feel the tremors of the Web of Fate, but before that, you need to find another spider. You both share the same totem, and your destinies are connected. Only by finding each other can you successfully return to your own universe after resolving the crisis in the Web of Fate."
"If you can see the future," Peter asked Spider-Man, "then why don't you just tell me where to look?"
"I don't write destiny, Peter Parker." She said his name in full for the first time. "I read it."

In Times Square, as the police and disaster control agency entered one after another, the media began to be isolated, but they were quite satisfied with the content of today's interview - Hermann was a complete chatterbox in front of the camera and was willing to say everything.
However, Herman did not really tell everything. He did not say anything about Dr. Otto or Kingpin. He just wanted to become famous and did not intend to betray his friends or the gang boss.
Among the crowd, there were a few unusual individuals, one of whom was Carl King. He wasn't particularly interested in thrillers or Spider-Man; he simply came to join in the fun. He walked over to a fallen piece of billboard and saw some spider silk stuck to it. Curious, he pulled at it and found it felt familiar.
I seem to have seen this somewhere before?
He suddenly thought of the chemistry lab that Peter Parker had left this afternoon.
"Peter Parker is Spider-Man?"
Carl King muttered to himself, although he smiled at himself, that skinny Peter?
But Peter Parker has become very powerful now.
Carl King fell into deep thought, thinking about the prank he had played on Peter Parker when he put the mutant spider of Osborn Technology on his neck. He began to wonder if it was because of that spider that Peter Parker became Spider-Man?
No, no, no, we can't be sure that Parker is Spider-Man...
He was so lost in thought that he didn't notice a man passing by. The man, dressed as a reporter, squeezed out of the crowd interviewing Herman, then blended into the crowd and called Herman's new boss.
"Hello, it's me, Mr. Wesker. Your new employee is very well behaved. He knows what to say and what not to say. You probably don't need to worry about him."
The reporter walked into the bathroom with a smile, and while listening to Jin Bing's instructions on the other end of the phone, he walked into the bathroom cubicle. When he appeared again, he was a completely different person - not only his clothes and face, but even the fingerprints left behind and the irises in the mirror had changed.
"Yes, I've observed Spider-Man's every move. I can imitate his movements, demeanor, and even his personality perfectly. If your props are as amazing as you say, I, Chameleon, can guarantee you that, Mr. Wesker."
"Soon enough, Spider-Man will be infamous and become a public enemy."
The next chapter may be a little later
