American Comics: Starting from the Invincible Young Hero

Chapter 23: Take control of your own destiny.

Chapter 23: Take control of your own destiny.

"Why do you ask, Father?"

Hearing what the Omni-Man said, Mark looked up at his father in confusion.

"My cousin is already a superhero. He fought off the Fraxon invasion twice and saved many Chicago citizens."

"No, there are many kinds of superheroes, and many people have different reasons for becoming superheroes."

The Omni-Hero shook his head; the point in his words wasn't whether he was a superhero or not.

Russell understood the hidden meaning of his uncle Nolan's words.

Mark didn't know that not all superheroes were helpful. Some enjoyed the cheers of the crowd, the admiring looks from others, and the fame they'd receive. Others simply wanted a profession where they could vent their violence for a legitimate reason.

The more naive his son Mark is and the more he immerses himself in boring superhero games, the more Omni-Man doesn't know how to reveal the truth to him.

The only person in this family who might try to reveal the secret first is his nephew who has been smart and mature since childhood.

Russell's perspective may not be so rigid.

"Russell, you haven't been out fighting crime like Mark these days, is it because you don't have a suitable superhero suit?

When I first came to Earth, I also worried about the suit. I adjusted it many times before it became the one I felt comfortable with."

After the Almighty Man finished speaking to Russell, he hugged his wife and went for a walk outside in the block, leaving the two children to eat.

"After dinner, I'll take you to a tailor shop that specializes in making superhero suits. They can make any style you want there. I'm sure you'll like it."

Looking at his uncle's back as he left the dinner table, Russell's expression changed.

Did Uncle Almighty notice that he was different?

Every father is the person his son admires the most since childhood, not to mention that Mark's father is the most powerful superhero on the planet. He has always hoped to awaken his abilities to inherit his father's mantle and become a respected superhero.

This has almost become his instinctive thinking, and of course it is also related to Mark's kind nature. His aunt has taught both children very well since childhood.

Unlike Mark, Russell doesn't have that idea. He doesn't mind saving people, but he won't make himself tired or even disrupt his life in order to save people.

He chose to be a superhero, more to gain conquest points and become stronger, so strong that no one except himself could control or even influence his fate.

Russell wanted to be a strong man who could control his own destiny, rather than a weak man who had no ability and could only pray for help from others when danger came.

……

In the darkness of night, the 'Tailor Shop', which appears to be an ordinary suit tailor shop, is actually the most popular place for superheroes to customize their battle suits.

The shops on the ground floor were closed after midnight, but the studios underground were still open.

After all, many superheroes become active at night.

Didi!

There was a sound indicating that a customer had arrived. Under the light, the old man wearing reading glasses who was sewing clothes straightened his back and looked up. Even though he was bald and had white hair, he was still a strong old tailor.

"Nolan, you're here again?

Is Mark not satisfied with the battle suit I made for your son?

That’s right, young people’s ideas always change very quickly.”

Looking at the red-cloaked figure walking down the stairs, seemingly leading a young man, old Arthur joked with the Almighty Man with a leisurely expression.

"Remember what I told you about my nephew Russell? He has also awakened his ability." Uncle Nolan introduced Russell, who walked in right behind him, to his old friend.

Russell glanced at his uncle's strong back and looked at the old tailor politely.

On the way here, he could only see the back of his uncle Almighty Man several times.

Uncle Nolan seemed to be just flying in front casually as an adult, and seemed to speed up several times to deliberately test whether Russell could keep up with his flying speed.

"He has a well-proportioned body, tall and slender, just like a clothes rack." As a tailor, old Arthur pinched his chin and squinted his eyes, and he got Russell's physical data.

"Do you have any special abilities? Like bursting into flames, emitting electricity that can destroy clothes and suits?"

"No." Russell shook his head. Maybe in the future, but I can't say now.

Omniman leaned aside with his arms folded, watching the two men discuss their requirements for the battle suits.

"As long as the material is strong?"

"Yes."

Old Arthur nodded. This was an easy request.

"I have several ready-made battle suits here..."

"No need, Mr. Arthur, I have a battle suit design of my own." Russell handed over a sketch.

"Oh? Let me take a look."

This is not surprising. When young people are full of enthusiasm to debut as superheroes, they often design titles and costumes for themselves.

But most of them are flashy and have no consideration for practicality, but old Arthur never discourages the enthusiasm of young people.

He always makes suggestions for revisions in a tactful, gentle and humorous way.

Old Arthur has a gentle temperament, like a cup of mellow tea. It makes people feel comfortable to be with him. This is why he is one of the few friends of the Almighty Man.

"what?

Simple yet serious and sharp, Russell, you have a talent for design."

The old man took it, squinted his eyes, put on his reading glasses, and said in surprise.

"It's just too cold a color scheme. It's not something children would draw on the margins of their notebooks when they dreamed of being you. Perhaps...older children would like it better?"

The battle suit sketch given by Russell was based on the battle suit of Lord Superman, which is the coldest embodiment of the aesthetics of power, majesty and oppression.

The classic red and blue color scheme of Superman's uniform was abandoned in favor of a dark black like the night sky mixed with cool white. The prisms framing the symbol on the chest became sharper and more majestic.

Under the cold white symbol, the diamond-shaped frame surrounds a bright red background that looks like blood, which instantly reminds people of the tragic end of those who angered the owner of the suit.

The slight difference is that Russell replaced the s symbol representing hope with ∞, which represents infinity.

This also makes the blood-red background color even darker.

The collar is slightly raised majestically, and the simple and sharp cold white cloak is connected to the arms and draped over the shoulders, giving it a draping feeling that is somewhat like the authority of the toga of the ancient Roman Senate.

"It's extremely powerful and can intimidate...villains at a glance. This is the kind of majesty a superhero should have." Seeing this cold and majestic battle suit, Omni-Man couldn't help but raise his eyebrows, his eyes slightly lit up as he looked at his nephew.

He clapped slowly, not knowing whether he was appreciating Russell's battle suit or the personality that was invisibly revealed in the design of the suit.

Even when Mark put on his new suit, he just said it was pretty good.

"The materials are all ready. Considering my relationship with your uncle Nolan, we'll expedite the production. You can come and get it tomorrow morning," said Old Arthur.

The money was naturally paid by my uncle, the Almighty Man.

After leaving the tailor shop, Uncle Nolan put his arm around Russell's shoulders and chatted with him like an elder, and then they came to the sky.

The tall buildings on the ground beneath my feet now look as small as grains of sand.

A cold full moon hangs in the distant space.

“Growth means looking back at how stubbornly you used to cling to certain ideas and finding them ridiculous.

Russell, you have awakened your abilities, you can go to the sky and into the earth, and you possess strength beyond the reach of ordinary people. Destroying a city is as easy as kicking over a sandbox.

The perspective on things will definitely be different from before.”

The bustling Chicago at night was like a small sandbox under the feet of the two men, and the Almighty Man spoke.

"In the past, you may have dreamed of becoming a scholar or a business elite, but those dreams are meaningless to you now. You must have a brand new goal for the future."
