Chapter 16: They Came to Save Her
Song Yi thought that there were never that many so-called telepathic connections in this world.

For example, Jiang Lanye should still be attending court right now and could not possibly be at Weiyang Palace.

Just as the cold hairpin was about to pierce her flesh, outside the hall, Eunuch Cao's shrill voice suddenly rang out:
"Your Majesty has arrived——"

A crisp sound rang out, and the hairpin in Consort Zhuang's hand fell to the ground.

She completely changed from her previous ruthless and vicious demeanor, her eyes filled with panic, and said, "Let her go!"

Then, she rushed over, picked up the veil that had fallen to the ground, put it back on Song Yi, and warned in a low voice, "I advise you to behave yourself!"

Then, several eunuchs immediately released her and scrambled to the palace gate, where they knelt obsequiously on the ground to greet Jiang Lanye.

Song Yi's arms were numb from being pressed down, and he suddenly lost all strength, falling down with another muffled groan.

Jiang Lanye walked outside the palace and vaguely heard painful groans inside. He stopped and opened his eyes to see Consort Zhuang walking quickly towards him and standing in front of him.

"I see you, Your Majesty."

Her voice was incredibly charming, and upon closer listening, it even trembled slightly.

She forced herself to calm down and smiled brightly.

Why has Your Majesty come to my humble abode at this hour?

Jiang Lanye frowned.

He had just finished the morning court session, but for some reason, he felt uneasy.

Eunuch Cao intended to summon Song Yi to him, but Jiang Lanye knew that it was not because of the nightmare.

He suddenly became very eager to find Song Cainu and sent someone to Xianyue Pavilion, only to learn that Song Yi had taken Xichun to Weiyang Palace.

Jiang Lanye set off almost immediately, riding in a dragon carriage to Weiyang Palace.

He asked calmly, "What are you doing?"

Consort Zhuang's heart skipped a beat. She was still trying to lie when Song Yi's voice rang out from inside the hall.

"His Majesty."

Jiang Lanye's brow twitched, and he strode past her into the room.

Then, he stopped in his tracks and coldly surveyed everything inside the hall.

A chair that had been knocked over, a vase shattered on the floor, and Song Yi lying on the ground.
What exactly happened before he arrived?

Jiang Lanye walked up to Song Yi and said coldly, "Stand up."

Song Yi struggled for a moment, and her usually calm voice was now filled with grievance.

"This concubine cannot stand up."

Jiang Lanye then noticed that her palm had been cut by something, leaving a deep and thick gash, and blood had stained her entire hand.

Bloodstained shards of porcelain lay to the side.

He glanced at it, then suddenly squatted down and said, "Get up first, I'll carry you back."

Song Yi supported herself on the ground with her left hand, barely managing to sit on the floor tiles. Before she could even speak, she was suddenly lifted into the air and held firmly in Jiang Lanye's arms.

Consort Zhuang turned her head and saw Jiang Lanye pick her up on his own initiative. She was so frightened that she couldn't even finish her sentence, and she had a vague sense of foreboding.
She had been in the palace for a year, and had never seen Jiang Lan take the initiative to hug someone else at night.

This Song Yi, isn't she just an ordinary palace maid? And she always wears a veil, so why does His Majesty care about her so much?

Song Yi wanted to raise her arms to wrap around Jiang Lanye's neck so that it would be easier for him, but she found that she couldn't raise her arms. Perhaps she had fallen and hurt herself. Jiang Lanye was still able to carry her steadily and walk without changing his expression.

Song Yi then relaxed completely, her body going limp in his arms as she leaned against him listlessly.

Jiang Lanye walked quickly and steadily. When he passed Consort Zhuang, he said coldly, "To the Golden Palace."

His voice was always indifferent, and at this moment it was impossible to tell what his emotions were.

Consort Zhuang said blankly, "Yes."

Song Yi leaned against him comfortably, but she didn't know what to do with her arm.

Jiang Lanye glanced down at her and said, "Put your hand up here." Song Yi whispered, "It will stain His Majesty's dragon robe."

Jiang Lanye remained silent.

Consort Yun in the past would never have cared about such trivial matters.

She was always unrestrained; everyone else was afraid of her, but she was not.

Jiang Lanye realized once again that the person in his arms was not the one he was obsessed with.

On their way back to the Golden Palace, Jiang Lanye put her down and let her sit in a chair. She stretched her legs and suddenly let out another muffled groan.

Jiang Lanye had intended to straighten up, but upon hearing her movement, he stopped moving, stood very close to her, and stared at her.

Song Yi awkwardly turned her head away and said, "My knees hurt too."

Jiang Lanye looked again and found that the blood seeping from her knees had soaked through her skirt.

The imperial physician arrived soon.

He was startled when he saw Song Yi's hands covered in blood. He quickly took out some medicinal wine and said, "Cai Nu was injured by a piece of broken porcelain. Now we need to clean the broken pieces out, otherwise the wound will easily leave a scar in the future."

Song Yi responded sullenly, her left hand nervously gripping the hem of her skirt.

She has always been extremely sensitive to pain, let alone now.

Beside her, a palace maid knelt and placed a basin in Song Yi's hands.

The imperial physician moved exceptionally quickly, but Song Yi still couldn't grit her teeth and let out a few painful groans. Her left hand gripped the hem of her skirt tightly, making it wrinkled and crumpled.

Her smooth forehead was covered in sweat; she was in so much pain that she had forgotten to breathe.

Jiang Lanye stood calmly to the side and watched.

The medicinal wine was quickly poured down, diluting the blood.

The imperial physician quickly wiped her hands clean, sprinkled on medicinal powder, applied ointment, and then wrapped them with white cloth.

After he finished wrapping everything up, Jiang Lanye belatedly asked, "Does it hurt?"

If she weren't worried about her own life, Song Yi would have rolled her eyes at him.

That's why she was clinging to him so desperately in order to complete her mission and return to the modern world.

This person is like an iceberg; not only is he clueless about romance, but he also doesn't know how to care for or comfort people.

If he hadn't been an emperor, he probably would have lived a lonely life until his death.

However, Song Yi has learned her lesson and now knows how to play the victim and act pitiful.

She tilted her head back, her eyes shimmering like a shattered bronze mirror.

"It hurts so much, my concubine."

Jiang Lanye stared at her, confirming that she was just being coquettish. After thinking for a moment, he said, "If it hurts, just bear with it. It won't hurt in a little while."

Song Yi: "."

Who doesn't know how to endure it! Who doesn't know the pain will subside in a while!

Just as the imperial physician was about to treat the wound on her knee, Consort Zhuang finally arrived, albeit reluctantly.

As soon as she entered the Golden Palace, she knelt before Jiang Lanye and said awkwardly, "Your Majesty, there is a reason for this. I hope Your Majesty can listen to my explanation."

Jiang Lanye glanced at her but didn't say anything, then turned his gaze to Song Yi.

Consort Zhuang dared not get up at this moment, even though her kneeling in the palace was a great humiliation. She could only follow Jiang Lanye's gaze and look at Song Yi.

Xi Chun felt heartbroken and tears streamed down her face. She rolled up her clothes to reveal a section of her fair calf, and above that, her knee, where a shard of porcelain had been pierced.

The condition of the knee was much more serious than that of the palm, and even the imperial physician couldn't help but frown.

He couldn't help but say, "Your Highness is quite tolerant of pain. This porcelain shard has been stuck in your skin for so long, and you haven't uttered a sound."
