Chapter 16 Contradictions
Jiang Mian was helped forward by Rong Fei. She actually wanted to say that she didn't need his help, as she only had a concussion, not a broken leg.

Moreover, the aphrodisiac effect of the butterfly orc glitter made her body even hotter now, and Rong Fei being so close to her made her feel very depressed and uncomfortable.

However, seeing that they were almost at the room, she felt it would be pretentious to say anything more, so she kept quiet and just forced herself to stay put.

The strong arm around her waist and the broad, slightly cool chest that brushed against her shoulder were eroding Jiang Mian's rationality. Fine beads of sweat appeared on her forehead, and she even wanted to grab the slightly cool hand around her waist and press it against her face to warm it up.

Jiang Mian's hand had already subconsciously touched Rong Fei's hand, which was pressed against her waist through her clothes.

Long, pale fingers, prominent veins on the back of the hand, and a slightly cool touch.

Jiang Mian woke up with a start, swallowed hard, pretended that her palm had unconsciously brushed against the back of his hand, and then restrained herself from putting it down.

When they arrived at the room, Jiang Mian felt as if she had been saved and hurriedly left Rong Fei's side. The short journey felt like an eternity.

Rong Fei raised his eyebrows slightly and naturally let go of her.

"Thank you." Jiang Mian thanked Rong Fei as soon as she returned to the door.

Her face was extremely red, her forehead was covered in a thick layer of sweat, and the strands of hair on her forehead were wet and messy. Her pair of dark eyes were extremely alluring and watery, with the corners of her eyes reddening, even staining her beauty mark red.

Upon hearing the thank you, Rong Fei looked at her quietly for a while, and only smiled slightly when Jiang Mian looked up at him: "It's nothing."

"Mm." Jiang Mian nodded silently, then went back to her room and closed the door.

The aphrodisiac effect of the glitter kicked in.

Jiang Mian walked unsteadily towards the restroom, intending to use physical methods to cool herself down.

Her slender fingers and pale fingertips were wrinkled from being soaked in cold water.

Jiang Mian slowly emerged from the cold water, shivering slightly.

She quickly crawled into bed and lay down.

The heating was quickly turned on to prevent people from catching a cold.

Jiang Mian then fell into a deep sleep.

Jiang Mian woke up to Rong Fei's knocking on the door that evening: "Mianmian, the nutritious soup is ready."

After Jiang Mian woke up, she was still a little weak, but she felt much better than at noon.

She stretched and decided that she still needed to find the imperial edict again to clarify some things.

However, she definitely needs Rong Fei to go with her.

Jiang Mian slowly walked out and was somewhat surprised to see Rong Fei standing at the door. He thought she would leave after calling his name, but he didn't expect her to still be standing there.

"I was worried something might have happened to you, so I stood here and waited to see." Rong Fei noticed the doubt in her eyes and slowly explained, "It seems you feel much better after a good night's sleep."

"Yes." Jiang Mian smiled faintly and walked out. "Thank you for lunch today. Let's go."

Usually, when it's mealtime, everyone else comes out on their own.

As soon as Chi Lin saw Jiang Mian, he went straight to her side and touched the pink bandage on her neck: "Oh dear, sister is injured?"

Jiang Mian pushed away Chi Lin, who was leaning closer, and casually replied, "Mm."

"How did you get hurt, sister?" Chi Lin blinked gently. "Does it hurt?"

"It's nothing," Jiang Mian said casually, not wanting to explain too much.

"You may not feel pain, but it hurts me." Chi Lin's wrist was still wrapped in white gauze. At this moment, she reached out her fingertips and gently ran them over Jiang Mian's bandage. She also leaned her head close to Jiang Mian and said softly, "Does it really not hurt? Let me blow on it for you, sister."

Jiang Mian pushed away the head that was leaning closer, as if avoiding some kind of virus: "Go away, go away, don't touch me."

She said this and quickly left. "Ah, sister, you've hurt my heart so much," Chi Lin said, looking heartbroken.

Jiang Mian didn't take his words seriously at all.

The evening's nutritious soup, however, was only served on imperial edict, and no one else was present.

Just when Jiang Mian thought the imperial edict wouldn't appear, it did.

The tall, slender young man stood before Jiang Mian, his purple hair hanging down in disarray, as if he had no interest in grooming it. His face was pale, yet his beauty was still undeniable, like a withered, drained flower, decaying and alluring.

He stood in front of her, his gaze falling on the bandage on Jiang Mian's neck, a hint of irritation flashing across his face.

No matter how disgusted he felt, Zhao Ci couldn't ignore the memories of his manic period returning, making him feel conflicted and repulsed.

He was utterly disgusted by this woman, but in his confused state, he felt an urge to mate with her.

Even now, when I think back on it, I can still feel the trembling sensation of those fingers gently stroking his butterfly wings, a dense, tingling, and itchy feeling in my heart.

But Jiang Mian actually pushed him away!

She had drugged him and gotten into his bed before, but now that he was aroused, she pushed him away without any mercy.

A conflicted feeling tormented Zhao Ci's heart.

How dare this person refuse him? What gives him the right to be so easily dismissed?

But the frustration in my heart could not be expressed.

As a beast slave, he should have been summoned by his master and dismissed at will.

But he really hated the term "beast slave" and was very unwilling to be a lowly slave.

Humans are truly the most disgusting creatures; they deserve to be called beast slaves.

Seeing the butterfly beastman standing in front of her for a long time without saying a word, and his face growing darker and darker, Jiang Mian took the initiative to speak: "Drink the nutritious soup first, we can talk about it later."

She also wants to talk to him later.

In her opinion, she had only been bitten on the neck and didn't feel anything.

However, the imperial edict is uncertain. Having gnawed on the neck of someone he disliked, he must feel extremely uncomfortable.

“No need.” Zhao Ci’s dry, pale lips moved slightly, his long eyelashes drooping, his voice dry and cold. “I’ll wait for you.”

Jiang Mian understood what he meant: he wouldn't drink the nutritional supplement, but would wait until she finished it so they could talk.

"If you're not going to drink, then we don't need to chat anymore," Jiang Mian replied casually, then continued drinking her nutritious soup.

The imperial edict was truly baffling; it seemed no one knew what tricks this person was up to now.

Is he hungry? Is she worried about him?

Thinking of this, Zhao Ci felt that Jiang Mian still had designs on him, using such a roundabout method to get him to drink the nutritious soup.

He frowned in disgust.

Who knew Jiang Mian would add casually, "Don't overthink it. I have no feelings for you anymore. I'm just afraid you'll starve to death, and then God will punish me."

"Are you still afraid of retribution?" Zhao Ci asked, a mocking smile playing on his lips, as if he had heard something amusing.

"Hurry up and drink, so we can start chatting sooner," Jiang Mian said with a slight twitch of her lips.

Now that this person has come to see her, he must have figured it out and intends to discuss the rules with her.
