Chapter 67 Man-made Disaster
The air outside was scorching hot, but once inside the airport, it was surprisingly cool.

Indeed, with so many orcs and humans here, the low temperature can inhibit the growth of some bacteria.

Jiang Mian walked towards the package pickup area. After her identity was verified by the staff, she handed over her hub space. The staff then connected their cargo hub space with Jiang Mian's hub space. After the cargo was successfully transferred, the staff returned her hub space to her.

"Liyan, let's go." Jiang Mian had just turned around.

The next second after her voice rang out, a burst of bullets rang out. At the same time, before she could even see when Li Yan arrived, a strong arm appeared around her waist. He grabbed her with one hand and charged quickly, then flipped over and hid behind a huge stone pillar in the airport. A volley of bullets swept across the spot where Jiang Mian had just been standing, followed by another round of gunfire.

Chaos erupted at the airport as everyone scrambled to escape, and alarms blared throughout the entire airport.

A yellow smoke bomb exploded with a bang at the spot where Jiang Mian had just picked up the package.

Seven or eight men continued to spray bullets at the package pickup area with guns. After they had finished spraying, they rushed in and robbed the packages.

Behind the stone pillar, Li Yan was half-squatting, with Jiang Mian sitting on one of his thighs. Her heart was pounding so hard she almost lost her mind.

The thugs weren't targeting her; they were after the supplies at the delivery station. She just happened to be there when they were carrying out their operation and was attacked indiscriminately.

Fortunately, Li Yan reacted extremely quickly, otherwise she would have been gone.

Li Yan quickly took out a bulletproof vest from the hub space and helped Jiang Mian put it on. His movements were swift but also rough, clearly showing that he had no experience in helping others put on clothes.

Jiang Mian was slightly surprised to see the bulletproof vest, but when Li Yan helped her put it on, he was too rough, and the wound on her left arm was pulled and hurt slightly again. She just frowned slightly and didn't say anything.

The next second, Li Yan stood up nimbly with one arm around Jiang Mian, his tone cold and emotionless as he commanded, "Hold me tight."

Jiang Mian instantly understood, her legs nimbly wrapping tightly around his lean and powerful waist, her hands tightly hugging his neck, and her head resting firmly on Li Yan's neck, her entire petite body pressed tightly against his broad and powerful chest.

Li Yan's body stiffened slightly, and his breath escaped a little.

Damn it, I didn't let her hold me that tight.

She's hugging me too tightly.

A burst of gunfire rang out, and it was coming this way.

His sharp eyebrows drooped slightly, and a laser gun quickly appeared in his hand.

As the assailant rapidly advanced, firing in this direction, this position was no longer safe.

During the lull between bursts of gunfire, Li Yan moved with incredible speed. As he moved, machine gun fire rushed toward him. Li Yan rolled to dodge, using the steel plate on his seat to block the incoming laser bullets. He then pressed the button on his laser gun, and the laser bullets quickly shot toward the thugs.

Everything happened in an instant; the two thugs were hit by the laser blast in a flash.

In an instant, all the other thugs fired their laser bullets at us.

After several rolls and some intense gunshots from very close range, Jiang Mian felt her heart pounding in her throat. She clung tightly to Li Yan, feeling the powerful, taut muscles emanating from his body.

Li Yan instantly carried Jiang Mian and landed on another pillar.

"Damn it!" A man exclaimed as he saw his two brothers get blown off their heads with a single blow.

His eyes turned red, and he grabbed the laser gun, wanting to rush over and kill the other person.

Another man quickly grabbed him: "The airport's gunfire system is almost back up, let's go!"

The man could only stare intently in Li Yan's direction with bloodshot eyes before retreating continuously. The two of them worked together and ran out through the gate on that side. As they walked towards the airport gate, they indiscriminately shot and killed anyone hiding there.

Soon after the assailants left, the airport's strafing system was restored, and a large number of laser projectiles rushed towards the gate.

But the thugs had already escaped.

The airport returned to calm, and soon housekeeping robots came out to clean up and dispose of the bodies.

"Aren't the people at the airport going after the supplies?" Jiang Mian frowned slightly.

“The items at the courier station don’t belong to the airport. They are only responsible for safekeeping them. If there is a major robbery and they cannot keep the items safe, they will not take responsibility. They will only blame the recipient for being unlucky,” Li Yan said coldly. “They will not compensate or spend manpower to track down the packages.”

Jiang Mian choked up.

Although I was able to retrieve my belongings by coming over now, it gave me quite a fright.

However, if she arrives late and doesn't take her belongings, they will be stolen by thieves, making her trip pointless and leaving her with no recourse.

When Jiang Mian realized that she was finally safe, her whole body relaxed slightly. Because she had been holding Li Yan's neck tightly with both arms, she didn't feel anything at the time. But now that she realized it, a sharp pain came from her injured left arm, as if a healed scar had been accidentally torn open.

She slid off Li Yan, her left hand hanging limply at her sides, her brows furrowing slightly.

The soft strands of hair and the supple arms brushed against Li Yan's neck, seemingly sending a jolt of electricity through him, causing Li Yan to stiffen slightly.

His gaze fell on Jiang Mian's slightly furrowed brows.

He quickly realized that he must have aggravated the injury on her arm.

"Does your arm hurt?" Li Yan grasped Jiang Mian's wrist, his sharp brows slightly lowered, and looked down at her.

"It's alright, I'm almost fully recovered, it just hurt a little from the strenuous activity just now," Jiang Mian said softly. "I'll be fine after a while."

"Let me take a look for you." Li Yan frowned, and his hand subconsciously reached out, but when he saw Jiang Mian's fair and slender neck, which was only wearing a short-sleeved shirt, he knew it might not be appropriate to pull the clothes off, so his hand froze in mid-air and stopped halfway.

"No need." Jiang Mian didn't notice his movements and simply shook her head.

So she went outside: "Let's go, just in case something else happens."

Li Yan paused for a moment, then put down his hand and followed.

His tall figure followed behind her, like the most loyal bodyguard, giving her a great sense of security.

Li Yan stared at Jiang Mian's back for a long time.

Damn, the more I look at this woman, the prettier she gets.

Moreover, her hands and waist are soft, her voice is soft, and even her hair is soft.

And it smells really good...

Li Yan lowered his brows sharply, forcibly banishing the thought from his mind; he would never like that woman.
