Chapter 58 Spitaminis's Breakout Tactics
Chapter 58 Spitaminis's Breakout Tactics
Upon hearing Suya's question,
Lucan pulled a piece of parchment filled with lines of encrypted symbols from his baggage.
After carefully examining the map for a while, he pointed to the area marked on the map between the two defensive lines of Plymouth and the Golden Curtain, and said:
"Five days ago, which was also the fifth day of the war, the King of Conquerors led an army of 50,000 to our second line of defense after defeating Exeter."
"She seized the opportunity of our side's lack of high-level combat power, and personally came to the Iron Wall with the sage Aristotle. She then unleashed the [King's Army] and the great magic, [Lyceon's Corridor]. The two of them used a power that was almost like the world of their minds."
"Our soldiers, under those distorted rules of causality, could only await their fate, and the entire fortress city was overwhelmed by a force described as 'unimaginable'."
"In just ten minutes, the Conqueror King breached Plymouth, known as the cliff of Britain."
"After the second line of defense was shattered by the Conqueror King,"
"Of the 80,000 troops evacuated from Exeter, along with the 50,000 defenders, more than half were lost here."
Then, the Conqueror King personally led ten thousand Companion cavalry, galloping swiftly to this location on this plain, intercepting the retreating rout. Together with the Macedonian phalanx legions that arrived later, they dealt us another heavy blow using the 'hammer and anvil system'.
Suya listened to Lukan's earnest narration as if it were a myth.
I thought to myself, isn't this against the rules? How come the master-disciple duo of Conqueror King and Aristotle have a combo skill?
Two people, in ten minutes, wiped out a city with 130,000 people?
No, guys!?
Even according to the deeds and legends of the King of Conquerors in the Type-Moon world, it shouldn't be this outrageous, right? What the hell kind of world is this?
Suya swallowed hard, and had no choice but to bite the bullet and continue asking:
"Then what?"
"How many of us are left?"
Lucan took a deep breath and replied:
"Thirty thousand people."
"Among them are five thousand knights, not those brought out by Dagonet, but those novice professionals who can only do odd jobs and cook. All five thousand of them are knights with the cavalry or spearman class!"
Lukan pointed to the location he was indicating on the map again.
Suya quickly recognized the place as being further back from the hilly area where he had first crossed, beyond a coastal mountainous and canyon region, extending northeastward to a plain that reached the Golden Iron Curtain.
"Now, they are trapped here, constantly hiding in the mountainous environment near the sea."
then,
Lucan pointed to that spot, then drew an arc to the left, his fingertip tracing the path from the besieged point, across the canyon, to the hilly area where Sua had initially crossed, and then across Bern Territory.
Until they reached Pendenburg, where they were located, and drew a circle.
"This group of people should have been wiped out by the Conqueror King within a week."
"But just last night, after the fall of Sol and Bestok, the signals from the beacon fires indicated—"
"The Conqueror King's army is tightening its encirclement."
"Now, these 30,000 defeated soldiers are being forced to flee towards us like wild dogs being chased by hunters."
At this point, Lukan paused for a moment before speaking with difficulty:
"But, as you can see, this is a dead end."
"Those of us who chose to abandon them and run away back then have now simply arrived at the end point that the Conqueror King has arranged for us ahead of time."
After hearing this,
Suya took a deep breath and did not answer immediately. Instead, she closed her eyes and quickly created a rough topographical map in her mind, listing the positions, numbers, and combat strength of both sides, and constantly simulating one possibility after another.
A somewhat oppressive atmosphere continued to spread throughout the room.
A solemn expression crossed everyone's face.
No one spoke; they were all waiting for Suya to speak.
Neither Lucan nor Dagonet believed Sua could devise a way to escape. They packed their belongings, preparing to flee further back into Persia, the land bordering Cornwall, Britain, despite the possibility of encountering a terrifying Macedonian supply corps blocking their path, or even more headhunters. Escaping in that direction was essentially a dead end.
But every extra moment of life is precious.
If they manage to evade detection and flee to Persia under assumed names, they might actually escape with their lives.
Although this act, which is essentially surrendering to the enemy, is disgraceful to the king, there is still a glimmer of hope for a comeback.
Yoshihisa
Lukan shook his head, looked at Dagonet, and exchanged a glance with him.
They didn't try to stop Suya, but instead continued what they had just stopped doing, silently packing their bags.
And at this moment——
Suya opened her eyes.
He asked in a deep voice:
"Lord Lukan, Lord Dagonit, I'd like to know, what can a hero-level combat force do against a fully-organized army?"
"One against a thousand".
"What about a half-hero?"
"One against a hundred".
"Where's the Master?"
"He can only serve as a basic non-commissioned officer in the army. His individual combat strength is insignificant in the face of the army. For example, when faced with a squad of ten advanced professionals, he could only flee in defeat."
"So, can we consider the hero in Cornwall, Seleucus, as one of a thousand men? I mean, can a thousand men hold him off and prevent him from suddenly attacking and beheading him?"
Dagonet thought for a moment and replied, "No problem."
After Suya pondered for a moment,
He looked at the three of them and asked in a low voice, "Do we have absolutely no way out?"
Lukan paused, slightly raising his head, somewhat confused by Suya's meaning, but finally gritted his teeth and replied:
"almost none."
"We are not confident that we can get you safely to Persia."
Suya scratched his head.
Persia, what Persia?
He quickly ignored this point and spoke in a deep voice to the three people in front of him:
"We still have a chance to fight!"
"As long as—we don't encounter a legend whose fighting strength is immeasurable, namely the conqueror king you mentioned and her teacher, Aristotle."
Upon hearing this, the three of them were all taken aback and looked at Suya in surprise.
Then, I heard him ask:
Have you ever heard of Spitaminis?
Meryl and Dagonet read the name aloud, their expressions somewhat blank.
Lukan instinctively replied, "You mean the Sogdian War? That Persian hero?"
"Not bad!"
Suya looked at the map, then at the canyon nestled by the sea, and said in a deep voice:
"Spitaminis, who led 2.8 troops to break through the encirclement of 7 Macedonian troops in the Battle of Sogdiana in 329 BC."
“We have more cavalry than Spitamnis, more suitable terrain for guerrilla warfare, and a more desperate situation than he did.”
"As long as we gather the remaining forces, unite the people, and choose the right opportunity."
"We can certainly try to replicate this great breakthrough here!"
