American comic book: My Father is Superman, am I just an NPC?
Chapter 270 Ian: I Have No Fatherly Love
Chapter 270 Ian: I Have No Fatherly Love
In the wilderness and ruins.
"Ignore this newborn giant baby. Let's get back to the point: why did I crawl out of the ground?"
"That's not important! There are many forms of passages across dimensions, what matters is the result! What matters is that I, the Undying God-King Ian, have returned, having given up the eternity of Heaven for you and for this world!"
Ian remained immersed in his own tragic narrative of "heaven refusing to stay, righteousness returning to earth," his soul glowing faintly with emotion.
“So you see, I saved you again—especially you, Bruce Wayne, my descendant.” Ian’s main point was to express that the Justice League would be doomed without him.
As for the secondary purpose, it was simply that he was no longer content to be Bruce Wayne's uncle. There was no other way; Bruce Wayne had offered him a position, and it would be impolite not to take advantage of it.
"Don't speak yet, rest your throat. Here's some throat lozenges for you." Ian shoved a lozenge into Batman's mouth as soon as he saw Batman was about to object.
The main ingredient is actually ghost pepper.
Batman started coughing violently.
They were so spicy they couldn't speak. No one could understand how a soul could interact with the material world and pull out a ghost pepper from its pocket.
"Okay, let's continue."
However, just as he was speaking eloquently...
As I was about to continue describing my selfless spirit,
Diana, standing to the side, couldn't help but blink, a very strange expression on her face. She pointed at the top of Ian's head, hesitated for a long time, and finally mustered up the courage to speak.
“Um… your name is Ian, right? Aren’t you really going to hide your horns while you’re lying to us?” Diana wanted to be respected.
In such a short period of time.
Ian has grown large horns on his head, comparable to those of a goat.
"Damn it! It really does have horns!"
Ian belatedly realized what was happening and instinctively reached up to touch his head. His expression immediately changed. Even though he had been criticized before, he had thought he was just being sabotaged.
Never thought about it.
Its head really has grown into a pointy shape.
Still two big, pointed things! The tentacles weren't the emptiness of the soul, but rather hard, curved, and seemingly sharp-tipped... horn-like objects!
His heart skipped a beat, and he quickly turned to look behind him—a long, thin tail with a small triangle at the end was wagging wildly and uncontrollably from side to side!
as predicted!
"This...this is?!"
A look of shock and panic crossed Ian's transparent face. He frantically groped around on his head and behind him, confirming that they were indeed genuine demon horns and a tail emitting a faint sulfurous smell!
"Impossible! How could this be?!" he exclaimed, then, as if remembering something, he hurriedly tried to explain to the stunned crowd, his voice trembling with barely concealed panic, "You've seen wrong! This...this isn't a demon's horns! Nor is it a demon's tail! Believe me, really! No one knows angels and demons better than me!"
"This...is a symbol of heavenly glory! Yes! It's the sacred horn! It's the tail of the gospel!" As expected of a writer, he concocted two seemingly plausible names in the blink of an eye.
only.
"Forehead."
Diana, seeing his blatant attempt to cover up his lie, couldn't help but facepalm and mutter to herself, "Do you even believe what you're saying? Look at your hands!"
"what?"
Upon hearing this, Ian looked down and saw that his hand, which was originally transparent and had the outline of a human hand, had now become sharp at the fingertips and was covered with a layer of incredibly fine, obsidian-like scales.
Yes, his hands had suddenly transformed into a pair of demonic claws!
"Wonder Woman, don't speak!" Ian, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, immediately glared at Diana, trying to cover his guilt with his loud voice. "If you dare to talk nonsense again, I... I'll call the immigration office and have them check your visa! Let's see if you, a foreigner from Paradise Island, are legal!"
His emotions grew increasingly agitated, and the soul energy behind him fluctuated violently. With a soft "plop," a pair of skeletal, thin-membrane-covered, and ominously scarlet devil wings suddenly shot out from his back, unfurling with a vast and majestic aura that seemed to blot out the sky!
"Damn it!! Why is it still happening! When will this end!" Ian panicked completely and hurriedly reached behind him to grab the conspicuous wings, trying to tear them off or stuff them back in, but the wings seemed to be a part of his soul, and the futile effort only brought a tingling sensation on the soul level.
"Oh~"
Ian couldn't help but roll his eyes.
"So this is the sensitive skin of demons, no wonder they don't want people to touch it."
He seemed to understand something.
"you……"
Even Superman couldn't stand it anymore.
He pointed to Ian's demonic form, which was so perfect it could grace the cover of a hellish textbook, and spoke with a tense expression and an extremely complex tone.
"You must have crawled out of hell, right?"
This is not a question, but an affirmative statement.
Ian's expression froze instantly, as if he had been frozen in place. But his strong mental fortitude kicked in again, and after only a second of stiffness, he stubbornly retorted, "Superman, a mere single dog, you...you've never been to Heaven, you have no idea what Heaven looks like!"
"I've been... I've been forcibly given wings by Heaven and made an angel!"
"So, these are the wings of angels! Because we angels are meant to deter demons, we must be more ferocious and evil than demons! This is how we fight evil with evil, and violence with violence! It makes perfect sense! You can go and look up the Old Testament! The angels in it look even scarier than me!" Ian began quoting scriptures.
But no one present believed his nonsense.
Even the purple-clad girl, who had been in a daze, couldn't help but tilt her head and, in her ethereal voice, precisely pointed out the contradiction in Ian's words: "But...didn't you just say that you rejected Heaven and didn't stay there? How come you've become 'one of us angels' now?"
Ian was far less polite to the child he nominally owned. He immediately turned his gun on the girl, his translucent face flushed crimson, and retorted.
"Shut up! What do you know?! You have more rebellious bones all over your body than I have horns on my head! I don't even have as many rebellious bones as you! But considering your background, it's not surprising!"
"Now! Immediately! Right now! Go in and lock yourself up! You're not allowed to come out without my permission!" Ian might just be a biological father.
So he had no fatherly love at all.
"..." The girl in purple looked at Ian's furious, demonic appearance, then glanced at the cold corpse. A hint of helplessness flashed in her purple eyes. She sighed softly, as if to say, "I'm so unlucky to have a father like this." But she seemed unable to disobey Ian's orders.
Helpless, the girl in purple, though somewhat unwilling, eventually transformed into a dazzling purple streak of light and "whoosh" darted into Ian's "corpse" outstretched palm.
Disappear.
"Now it's peaceful. You haven't even started raising a giant baby yet, so you don't know how troublesome a giant baby is." After dealing with the "internal problem," Ian took a deep breath and turned his attention back to his image crisis.
Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, he walked towards his own corpse at the bottom of the pit.
"Didn't you want to see beautiful, holy wings?" he said, awkwardly putting his "corpse" onto his soul as if putting on a slightly tight-fitting garment. "I'll show you right now! I'll let you see what a true seventy-two-winged ultimate archangel looks like!"
As his soul and body reunited, the previously lifeless "corpse" suddenly opened its eyes! Although its face was still somewhat pale, the breath of life had returned.
"Don't blink!"
Ian straightened up, concentrated his mind, and activated the skill ability derived from [Advanced Mimicry] within him. Behind him, a great light shone! Pairs and layers of seventy-two enormous, pure white wings, radiating a soft and holy light, slowly and solemnly unfolded behind him like a peacock spreading its tail!
It was shining with all its might, so the holy light dispelled the surrounding darkness and even made this ruin seem like a sacred temple!
"Look! Did you see that?!"
Ian spread his arms triumphantly, feeling the immense divine power brought by the seventy-two wings, and prepared to announce his victory to the astonished crowd.
"This is the evidence! I said I am God..."
Before he could finish speaking, another change occurred! The seventy-two wings, which were originally pure white and radiating a soft, holy light, suddenly began to uncontrollably emanate wisps of a thick, blood-red aura from their roots! This hellish aura, like a living plague, rapidly spread and permeated upwards along the veins of the wings!
It was terrifying. The pure white was being steadily eroded by the scarlet, and the pure white feathers were being stained dark red and then pitch black at a visible speed! In just a few breaths, most of the wings had turned into a pitch black color like a fallen angel, exuding an aura of ominousness and destruction!
"No! No! Change back to normal!!" Ian's expression changed drastically. He frantically concentrated all his will and strength, attempting to dispel the surge of hellish power and re-dye his wings white. His face turned bright red, his soul and body trembled violently, and immense energy clashed and surged around him!
Through his relentless efforts.
Some of the blackened edges of the wings painstakingly and gradually faded back to their original color, revealing a faint white glow. However, most of the wings remained stubbornly in their corrupted state.
Finally, Ian, exhausted, stopped, panting heavily. The sight behind him was truly spectacular—seventy-two enormous wings, the left half stubbornly maintaining its pure white color, radiating a soft glow; the right half, however, had turned completely into deep black, surging with the crimson energy of hell!
Light and darkness, holiness and depravity, coexisted within him in an extremely strange yet balanced state!
"Damn it! What Western fantasy Renaissance?!"
Ian was utterly speechless at this.
“This…how is this possible…” Diana was overwhelmed with emotion, staring at the scene that defied all her understanding. She murmured in disbelief. In her education and the pantheon she had been taught, light and darkness were like fire and water, and it was absolutely impossible for them to coexist so harmoniously within a single individual!
"Aaaaaah, I'm going crazy! How can there be so much hellish power!" Ian looked at his wings, half white and half black, and was both angry and anxious, almost going insane. He tried flapping his wings, and holy light dust fell from the left, while dark red embers drifted down from the right.
The scene became even more bizarre.
"You wait!"
Enraged, Ian roared, "I know who framed me! It must be that real devil! I'm going to find him and get to the bottom of this!"
Without waiting for anyone's reaction, his seventy-two distinct black and white wings on his back suddenly flapped! A violent, eerie current of energy, a mixture of divine thrust and hellfire, erupted, sending dust billowing through the air. The next moment, he transformed into a streak of black and white light, soaring into the sky at an astonishing speed.
"Swish swish~"
Ian sped off towards Los Angeles on the West Coast! Left behind, a group of superheroes stared at each other in bewilderment amidst the ruins; the Justice League elders remained silent for a long time.
"He... he's gone already?" Batman spat out a mouthful of liquid, clutching his still-painful throat, his voice hoarse and filled with a sense of absurdity.
The events of tonight were so numerous and complex that even he felt his brain was overloaded. Furthermore, he had to contend with the onslaught of mental pollution.
It was truly too tiring.
"I have to find a way to get rid of those absurd energies in my head." Batman gripped the blood he had drawn from Ian's ephemeral corpse tightly.
No one noticed.
Superman frowned, his gaze fixed on the horizon where Ian had disappeared.
His super vision tried to lock onto Ian's flight path, wanting to see who this talkative guy was going to find, and who the other person was mentioning with a hint of apprehension in his tone.
"His direction...is Los Angeles?"
Clark seemed to be deep in thought.
He also seemed to have a deep impression of Los Angeles.
“I feel like this guy is really crazy.” Diana looked away, shook her head, and said in a complicated tone, “I’m afraid there’s not a single truth in his mouth.”
She crouched down, checked on the unconscious Flash, and confirmed that he had only been temporarily knocked unconscious and was not seriously injured. Only then did she breathe a sigh of relief and continue speaking.
"However, this madness may stem from a very long period of slumber or sealing, much like someone who has been imprisoned for too long."
"Putting aside his absurd words and deeds... the power he just displayed, whether it was that holy radiance or that hellish aura, far exceeded my comprehension."
"Therefore, he might... truly be an ancient being from the cosmic level that we cannot comprehend." Wonder Woman had already realized that she was the only mystical hero present.
She began to offer reminders to the others based on her understanding and knowledge, but of course, since everyone was still not very familiar with each other, she didn't go into too much detail.
"Yes, I agree with you."
Superman knew Ian's terror all too well, so he thought Diana was right.
The group began whispering about Ian's outlandish origins and contradictory powers, with various speculations arising. Batman, though his eyes darted around and he knew some information about the name Ian Kent, for some reason did not reveal it to Superman.
Perhaps they were afraid that Superman would unleash his fatherly love.
He chose to remain silent.
While these mortal heroes were discussing amongst themselves, in a higher dimension beyond their comprehension, Lady Death—the veiled woman who held the power of ending all things—silently appeared where the girl in purple had stood. She looked down at the empty space, as if she could see through matter.
She saw traces of the past left there. Her ethereal yet cold voice, tinged with curiosity, echoed in the void, directly entering the consciousness of another being.
“I’m very curious, Ms. Paradox.”
"Why...why did you 'kill' your creator, your—'father'?" Her question was like a stone thrown into a silent pool.
Almost as soon as she finished speaking, the figure of the Paradoxical Lady, holding a black umbrella and dressed in a Lolita dress, solidified like a phantom beside Miss Death. Faced with this pointed and almost accusatory question, the Paradoxical Lady still wore that mysterious and elusive faint smile.
"If I were told that only in that way could I truly be born, would you believe me?" The Paradoxical Lady simply tilted her head slightly, looking in the direction where Ian had disappeared.
“After all, my name is Paradox.” In the woman’s deep eyes, Ian’s hurried figure was reflected as he searched for the “Bar of Light” on the sand-falling machine.
