Chapter 34 Godfather! I really want to improve!

Chapter 34 Godfather! I really want to improve!
The disinfectant smell suddenly became pungent.

Ian was completely bewildered by the reaction of Tessa, the female Grim Reaper he had known for two days. He even wondered if he had mistaken her for someone else, and if he was seeing Tessa's twin sister?

There are quite a few Grim Reapers.

Death exists everywhere in the world, in every place where life exists. They are a higher form of life that wanders the earth, their duty being to guide the departed to their destined place. Places like hospitals are certainly places where death frequently appears.

Every soul about to die will encounter Death.

There are also theories and evidence suggesting that Death might be a special kind of angel, just with different duties than the angels in Heaven, and that the essence of life could be seen as a special angelic form. Regardless of the theory, the undeniable fact is that the authority of all Deaths derives from the "Knight of Death" among the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

He is the most unique of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, belonging to the oldest group of life in the universe, second only to God, and like Lady Death, he is an embodiment of the concept of death.

That's why.

The identity of a "Death Knight's Familiar" could indeed bring Ian immense benefits. Of course, it could also come at a great cost, but in any case, it's something Ian can't refuse right now.

What are your thoughts, boss?

Ian couldn't figure it out.

He only knew that if there were benefits, he would accept them passively, but if there were drawbacks, he would fight back fiercely. And from the current perspective, being able to see the existence of Death was still a pretty good benefit.

"Tessa?"

Ian saw the female Grim Reaper walking towards him.

"what?"

The female Grim Reaper's expression grew even more surprised; clearly, Ian hadn't mistaken her for someone else—she was indeed the female Grim Reaper, Tessa. However, she acted as if she were meeting Ian for the first time, completely unfamiliar with him.

"Seriously, you can't be so angry that you're pretending not to know me just because I used your blessing—no, your curse—to be idle in the toilet a few times, can you?"

Ian's first reaction was that she was a fickle, petty old woman.

however.

"I don't understand what you're talking about, child. You shouldn't be able to see me; it's against the rules." The female grim reaper's eyes were suspicious, and her confused expression didn't seem like she was acting.

Are you sure we haven't met before?

Ian's Adam's apple bobbed.

very nervous.

It wasn't because of the approaching female Grim Reaper, nor just because of her unfamiliar attitude, but because as she drew closer, he couldn't smell that pleasant scent anymore.

This made Ian extremely uneasy.

If the female Grim Reaper Tessa in front of me is not the same female Grim Reaper Tessa I have seen before, then who exactly is the fake Tessa I have seen?
[Temporary Curse: You will be immune to death for 24 hours.]

Except for Death.

Who else has the right to issue such a curse?
I'm sweating.

It started to emerge from Ian's forehead.

Perhaps his subconscious mind already had some guesses, but Ian's will and soul clearly had their own ideas, and he was unwilling to think about the reason why he was sweating.

Don't think about it.

Rounding up and down a bit, and then deceiving oneself a few more times, it's roughly equivalent to the world remaining calm and peaceful. Ian gradually regains his composure thanks to his perfect logical loop.

"Have we met before?" The female Grim Reaper stopped in front of Ian. The two were very close, one tall and one short. She looked Ian over with a serious expression and then shook her head.

“I’m a complete stranger to you. I think this is the first time we’ve met.” In her long memory, the female death goddess Tessa couldn’t find a single trace of Ian.

"Goo~"

The sound of the boy swallowing became clearer.

The corridor lights suddenly flickered.

The female grim reaper suddenly turned her gaze to the ward where resuscitation was underway. On the machine connected to the patient's chest, the electrocardiogram, representing the fluctuations in life, was almost flat.

"I'm sorry, I don't have much time left. Although I don't know why you can see me, this is not right." The female Grim Reaper raised her slightly pale right hand.

"Relax, there will be no pain. You need to forget how we met. I think this special fate will guide us to meet again when you leave this world in the future."

The female Grim Reaper's voice was gentle, even somewhat affectionate. Her hand was about to touch Ian's forehead when she noticed Ian actually leaning his head closer. However...

The female grim reaper's hand didn't touch the boy's forehead; instead, the boy, with his mouth open, bit her wrist, catching her completely off guard and freezing in place.

"What are you doing?"

The female death goddess Tessa was completely bewildered; she could feel Ian's teeth clenching.

After a while.

"I'm sorry, I just wanted to try it out in the face of your unsportsmanlike attack." Ian awkwardly released her hand and politely took out a tissue to wipe the drool off the female Grim Reaper.

"It seems that Einstein's theory still has limitations." Ian looked melancholy. He didn't really want to believe that science had limits, and preferred to think that his teeth weren't good enough.

"????"

The new Tessa was still confused. She could understand every word Ian said, but she just couldn't understand what he was saying. However, she did discover something that was hard to believe.

"Teeth marks."

The female Grim Reaper raised her cleaned hand, and there, on her wrist, were clear teeth marks where she had been bitten, reflecting a physical sensation she had never experienced before.

That was pain.

This is absolutely impossible; Death should be immune to all physical harm from humans. Ian, who knows the nature of Death, can roughly understand the female Death's confusion.

“I think that’s why, can’t you see?” Ian raised the back of his hand, where the brand of the Death Knight was flashing.

"Is there any magical power involved?"

The female Grim Reaper couldn't see or sense anything; she merely frowned slightly and suddenly spoke into the air, "Andrew, I need some help."

The words fell.

next moment.

A slicked-back man in a black uniform appeared silently behind Ian. He was clearly a Grim Reaper as well, his bony hand pressing directly onto the top of Ian's head.

"Tessa, you can't even handle a little boy with clairvoyance?" The male voice behind him was languid, and he even pinched Ian's head hard.

"Bro, you messed up my hair." Ian was startled at first, then turned around without hesitation and raised his hand to deliver a backhand stab to Death behind him.

Accurate hit.

The handsome Grim Reaper named Andrew stiffened instantly, then knelt on the ground, incredulously covering his crotch with his hands, letting out a near-heart-wrenching howl.

"It's broken! It's really broken! It shouldn't have broken!"

It's getting more and more painful.

This caused the male Grim Reaper to roll around frantically on the ground. A crowd of people passed by, but they couldn't see the Grim Reaper; they only looked at the strangely behaving boy with odd expressions.

"This is impossible! You can really hurt Death!" When the female Death Goddess Tessa saw the terrible state of her companion, she felt her legs tighten and quickly took a few steps back to distance herself from Ian.

Ian did not answer the female Grim Reaper's question. After realizing that he could actually harm a being like Grim Reaper, he simply raised his fist, which was marked and shimmering, and pondered.

"This must be the date you gave me, boss." Ian pulled the mysterious pendant out of his clothes and held it to his lips as if he were making a phone call.

"If it really is you, then please give me a shout! Otherwise, I'll have to call you godfather." Ian's tone wasn't actually obsequious.

He was simply driven by a desire to improve, a yearning to exploit bugs and level up every day. This "call" might not have gone through, because Ian didn't hear any whispers from the ancient gods.
