Chapter 51 People Die for Money (Seeking Monthly Tickets)

"You little rascal, you've got some nerve!"

Some people seemed to wake up from a dream, staring at him and giving him a thumbs up.

An old hand scoffed, "Damn it, that 'Butcher' slaughtered all the martial arts masters in the North and South. Big names like Cao Shaoqin, Blood Saber Ancestor, the Four Eccentrics of the North and the Four Wonders of the South all fell at his hands. And now they're asking him for treasure?"

"I think you're just an old man who's tired of living!"

The swordsman blushed at the retort and couldn't help but retort, "Let's put that aside for now! They sound impressive, but who knows if their skills are actually that good?"

"Hard?" the old hand asked menacingly.

The word "hard" had barely left his lips when a clang was heard, a flash of cold light appeared, and a knife shot out like lightning.

"Ahhh!"

The swordsman suddenly felt a chill in his lower body, and was so frightened that he knelt down, covering his head and screaming incessantly.

The man's pants had been slashed with a long gash, turning them into open-crotch pants. Although he was not injured, he was panicked and lost all his bravado.

With a clang, the veteran swordsman sheathed his sword and sneered, "With your meager skills, you dare to say that 'The Butcher's' skills aren't solid?"

Those present, witnessing the veteran's swift and ruthless swordsmanship, all fell silent.

"Kid, it's amazing you're still alive after all this gossip!" The old hand chuckled coldly.

The swordsman was so frightened that his lips turned white, and he hurriedly kowtowed. The onlookers saw that his pants were wet, obviously he had been scared to death. Looking at the old swordsman's proud and self-satisfied demeanor on the other side, they all felt that their eyes had been opened and they marveled.

Just as things were getting chaotic, a big bearded man suddenly ran into the store, shouting and yelling.

"Go look at the south gate city wall! There are words on it!"

"What word?"

The man was running so fast that he couldn't speak for a long time. After taking a sip of tea and catching his breath, he calmed down and slowly began to speak amidst the urging of the crowd.

"The words were on the city wall, two zhang above the ground. It read: 'Want to find the treasure? Go and find it! All the treasure is kept there, at Tianning Temple, south of Jiangling City!'"

Just then, a flurry of footsteps and deafening shouts sounded outside the door. A large crowd surged forward, making a racket and heading quickly toward the south of the city.

The crowd froze for a moment, then suddenly shouted and rushed out the door like madmen, joining the crowd.

This includes the seasoned veteran who just made a big splash.

And then there was the swordsman who wet his pants in fear.
-
Almost instantly, everyone had dispersed.

Ren Shaoyang and Hongxiu were left alone in the large inn lobby.

The sun had already set, and dusk was falling. As the noise outside faded into the distance, a chilling cold filled the air.

That was a sign of death.

Hongxiu was stunned for a moment. Seeing that the innkeeper and the waiter had run out, she turned her head and stared at Ren Shaoyang with her big eyes.

Ren Shaoyang said, "Why are you looking at me?"

Hongxiu's face instantly turned crestfallen: "My goodness, this is a treasure!"

Ren Shaoyang's face darkened: "We're not short of money, and we haven't skimped on your food or clothing, so why are you crying?"

Hongxiu grumbled, "I just feel bad about it. You, not only did you not take it, but you also had to announce it."

Ren Shaoyang laughed and said, "To be honest, I really didn't announce it."

Hongxiu asked curiously, "Who else but you would do something so foolish?"

Ren Shaoyang said leisurely, "Yes, there is. A young man who is missing five fingers on his right hand."

Why did he announce it?

He knew his master wasn't dead and wanted to force him out.

Hongxiu exclaimed, "That's not right!" She counted on her slender fingers one by one, "Want to get the treasure? Go find it! All the treasure is kept in Tianning Temple south of Jiangling City!" She looked up at him angrily, "That's clearly your tone."

Ren Shaoyang chuckled and said, "That young man only wrote the words 'The treasure is in Tianning Temple, south of Jiangling City' at the time."

"I couldn't sleep because of the heat at night, so I went out for a walk and chatted with him for a bit. After he left, I went upstairs and filled out a few lines."
-
The next day, the three of them went downstairs.

The innkeeper and waiter had not yet returned.

After leaving the inn and retrieving the donkey cart, I found the streets sparsely populated, far less bustling than they had been a few days ago.

Ding An had been cultivating in his room upstairs all day and was unaware of what had happened. Looking around, he exclaimed, "Eh!"

"That's strange, there's hardly anyone here today?"

Ren Shaoyang, driving a donkey cart and wearing a straw hat, replied, "People die for wealth, birds die for food."

Ding'an didn't understand: "What do you mean?"

As Hongxiu ate her pastries, she said, "The cripple means that the whole city is fighting over that priceless treasure!"

"Huh?" Ding An's mouth gaped open, looking completely dumbfounded.

"Oh dear, don't 'ah' anymore." Hongxiu took something out of her bag and handed it to him. "Here, put this on."

Ding An was still in shock when he mechanically took it. He felt that it was soft to the touch and the stitches were fine. He looked down and saw that it was a black cloth robe.

"Little beggar, you really bought it?" Ding'an looked up in surprise.

Hongxiu pouted, tilted her head back, and snorted, "So that no one will feel ashamed to wear clothes I knitted!"

"Huh? Hehe." Ding An didn't know how to answer, so he could only scratch his head and chuckle sheepishly.

"Oh right, cripple, your clothes are ruined too, change them!" Hongxiu took out two more pieces of clothing from her bundle and handed them to Ren Shaoyang outside the car.

Ren Shaoyang took them; one was a white cloth robe, and the other was surprisingly a black cloak.

He didn't look at the white robe, but instead reached out and touched the crooked stitches on the cloak, smiling happily.

"Little beggar, we're one black and one white, don't you think we look like 'Black and White Impermanence'? Are we going to a wedding or to someone's funeral?"

"Ouch~!"

Ding An jumped up, grabbed his mouth, and said fiercely, "Crippled man, you made me faint the first time we met. Now that my junior sister is getting married, you can't say anything weird again!"

Ren Shaoyang's lips were pinched so hard they resembled a bird's beak that he couldn't speak, and he could only shrug.

Ding'an shouted, "Can't you stop saying weird things?"

With his mouth in someone else's hands, Ren Shaoyang had no choice but to nod and even raise his hand to swear an oath.

Ding An then smiled and let go of her hand.

The two changed out of their tattered black robes and into the black and white robes that the little beggar had bought.

The next moment, two handsome young men appeared, standing on the left and right sides of Hongxiu, just like the Black and White Duo.

The three men drove the donkey cart toward the east gate when they suddenly heard a commotion in the distance.

They turned their heads and saw a large group of people surging into the street, all of them looking flustered.

Suddenly, a loud voice shouted, "My God! Tianning Temple has collapsed! All the treasures have fallen into the water and been washed away!"

Then a hoarse voice cried out, "Too late, my treasure!"

A shrill voice cursed, "Go to hell! What do you mean 'treasure'? The government and the Imperial Guards have sent people, so what? The treasure is poisoned! They're all trapped inside!"

"Damn it!" the loud voice spat. "The person who buried the treasure is a real scoundrel; they actually poisoned it!"

"Yes, yes," the hoarse voice continued, "a whole temple full of treasures, and I didn't even get to see it. It's such a pity it's gone."

"Hey, that golden Buddha is over ten feet tall, I don't believe it's poisonous."

The more they talked, the angrier and more agitated they became. In the end, they all collapsed on the street and burst into tears.

A chance to defy fate and become rich overnight is gone just like that!
Ren Shaoyang and his two companions stuck their heads out of the car, looking like three huskies.

Hongxiu suddenly said with relief, "Luckily we didn't go."

Ren Shaoyang laughed and said, "I wonder who was crying in bed yesterday!"

Ding An thought for a moment, then blurted out, "It seems to be a little beggar?"

Hongxiu was stunned for a moment, then gave him a sidelong glance, annoyed: "You talk too much!"

Ding'an: "(_)`"

Just as the little beggar was pulling Ding'an's ear and yelling at him.

Ren Shaoyang suddenly spotted a familiar, honest-looking young man.

He was seen holding a woman's hand and carrying a sleeping girl, walking towards the edge of the city.

Seemingly sensing the gaze, the young man turned around, saw the young man driving the donkey cart, and they smiled at each other.

One person clasped their hands in a fist salute, while the other bowed deeply.

Ren Shaoyang gave a whistle, and the donkey cart started running merrily.

We parted ways, our paths diverging, never to meet again.

Just then, the little beggar exclaimed "Hey!" and asked, "Lame man, have you noticed? The donkey seems to be walking slower!"

Ren Shaoyang replied without turning his head, "It has gotten heavier."

"You haven't gained weight either!"

"The iron rod has gotten heavier!"

As the sun rose, the donkey cart slowly disappeared into the distance.
