Chapter 37 Durian God of War
Chapter 37 Durian God of War
There was a reason why Lao Wang and I were angry.
Despite Hao Hao's tall and strong appearance, his mental age is less than that of a three-year-old. I've known him and his mother for so long, and I've never heard him call her "Mom" even once. The reason he can wander around the fruit market is because everyone here knows him. If he gets separated from Aunt Xu, someone can always help look after him. Aunt Xu always has to hold his hand when she goes to crowded places; that's what the rope around his waist is for.
In our eyes, Hao Hao is just a baby.
With old grudges fueled by new ones, the fight between Lao Wang and Zhang Biao was anything but ordinary from the start. Fists rained down on faces, and for a time, it was a close contest. Lao Wang, a former athlete, was used to fighting, but his limp was a disadvantage, making him less agile than Zhang Biao. Zhang Biao, on the other hand, was essentially a professional thug before coming to the market, possessing extensive fighting experience, so Lao Wang was at a slight disadvantage.
After dealing with the girl in the pink down jacket, I continued searching for tools, and my eyes couldn't help but fall on the paring knife in the room.
Li Ping shook her head at me.
I knew I couldn't use this, but upon scanning again, I discovered a treasure—a tattered mop standing by the door.
This time, Li Ping nodded.
I grabbed the mop, ready to lend a hand, when Old Wang shouted, "Fengzi, don't worry about it, you'll be responsible for getting me out of there later."
My heart skipped a beat. By now, vendors from nearby stalls had all come out to watch, and many customers were also there to see what was going on. Whether this matter went to the market management office or the police station, it was definitely not going to end well. Someone would have to take responsibility for cleaning up the mess.
“Old Wang is right,” Li Ping reminded me. “Give him the ‘thing’ first.”
I held the mop horizontally, went around behind Old Wang, and stuffed it into his hand. The girl in the pink down jacket was crouching down, looking for a good angle to take a picture, and she happened to be blocking my way.
"Excuse me," I said.
The girl deftly stepped aside to make way, half a tangerine between her teeth, and casually gave the mop a close-up shot...
As Old Wang was hitting the ground, he suddenly had a mop in his hand, which gave him wings. He swung it and smashed it down on Zhang Biao's chest.
In the chaos, Aunt Xu panicked. Zhang Biao was someone from the market, and she was afraid of implicating us, so she shouted without thinking, "Stop fighting! We're leaving now." As she spoke, she tried to step forward to break up the fight, but Zhang Biao pushed her, causing her to stumble and fall to the ground.
Everyone couldn't stand it anymore and started booing.
Perhaps it was the mother-son bond, but Hao Hao suddenly got angry. He didn't know how to fight, but he knew to step forward and grab Zhang Biao around the waist. Old Wang seized the opportunity and rushed up to shove Zhang Biao's shoulder hard with a mop head.
However, there was a mistake here. The mop head was originally spread out on the ground, but now it's frozen, and the head is still in the spread-out shape. You can't use this thing to hit someone, especially since everyone is wearing such thick clothes in winter. I should have handed the mop head forward to Old Wang.
Zhang Biao was both anxious and angry, and his strength was no match for Hao Hao's. In desperation, he kicked out in mid-air, sending Lao Wang staggering backward and nearly landing on his buttocks on the fruit stand. To maintain his balance, he thrust the mop backward, and with a soft "plop," the mop handle pierced a piece of fruit.
It was an open durian, and the wooden handle just happened to stick into that opening...
Old Wang adjusted his posture, ready to charge again, when he suddenly felt the mop was unusually heavy. He lifted it up and saw a durian stuck in the handle. He laughed and then turned the mop around.
Zhang Biao saw the durian and also Old Wang's eerie smile. Even with his intelligence, he sensed what was about to happen.
"you--"
Old Wang held up this powerful weapon, charged up his strength, and ran. Although the thick, spiky head of the durian did not gleam with cold light, the oppressive feeling coming towards him was even greater than that of a broadsword or spear!
Duang——
Zhang Biao was tightly hugged by Hao Hao, with nowhere to hide or dodge. He was probably the first person in the market to experience the feeling of being hit on the face with durian.
In just one moment, Zhang Biao's mouth and nose bled, and his cheeks were covered with bloodstains.
The onlookers burst into hearty laughter.
After that, the durian fell to the ground, and Zhang Biao took the opportunity to break free from Hao Hao's control. However, with blood smeared on his face, he waved his hands and spun around like a blind man. Old Wang threw down the mop and rushed over to chase after him. Zhang Biao was weak and tried to run away with his head in his hands, but he was blocked by the walls and the crowd every time. Old Wang used his fists and feet to take full advantage of the situation.
Li Ping touched me with her hand.
I was watching with a big smile when her reminder made me realize it was time to end things.
"Alright, alright, if you keep hitting it, someone'll get killed." I suppressed a laugh, grabbed Old Wang, carefully picked up the durian, and then shouted, "I'll treat everyone to durian!"
People cheered loudly.
After the durian was broken open, the flesh was golden and soft. Who wouldn't eat such expensive fruit for free? Even the fruit vendors came up to buy some. Everyone on the spot took a piece and it was all gone in less than 3 minutes. Everyone had a satisfied smile on their face, and our little patch of land became smelly.
My Musang King durian! The flowerpot was so big! I'm a little heartbroken...
After a while, Zhang Biao wiped the blood with his sleeve and could barely see. He pointed at Lao Wang and shouted, "You wait, I'll make sure you rot in jail! I'm calling the police right now to have you arrested!"
"You son of a bitch—" Old Wang grabbed the mop and was about to poke the durian again.
Zhang Biao jumped back, making a phone call while observing Lao Wang's movements.
Aunt Xu looked at Zhang Biao, whose face was covered in flowers, and took Old Wang's hand, saying, "Brother, why did you do this?"
Old Wang laughed and said, "Don't take it to heart. Even if it weren't for you, I would have beaten him up. This is a personal grudge between the two of us."
Aunt Xu looked at Li Ping again and said hesitantly, "Look at the mess this has made."
Li Ping patted the back of her hand and said, "It's okay. Oh, where's Hao Hao?"
Hao Hao has wandered off somewhere again.
Aunt Xu, in a hurry, said to me and Old Wang, "I'll go find Hao Hao first. If you need my testimony later—"
Old Wang waved his hand: "You go ahead, I want to see how he's going to put me in jail for the rest of my life."
Not long after Aunt Xu left, two policemen came into our view.
Cold storage facilities and fruit markets are frequented by a large number of people and are a mixed bag of people. They have always been considered sensitive areas by grassroots police officers. Today, with the vice mayor leading a team to inspect the area, the commotion was so great that even if Zhang Biao hadn't called the police, someone would have already notified the police station. The station dared not take it lightly and responded to the call very quickly.
The two police officers were both quite young. One was a third-level police superintendent, accompanied by a police auxiliary officer. They walked in, holding a body camera horizontally, parting the crowd, and were also followed by a market manager.
"Who called the police?" a third-level superintendent asked.
Zhang Biao stumbled and pushed through the crowd, shouting, "Police officer! Police officer! I called the police! Someone's been killed!"
The auxiliary police officer inquired about the situation from the onlookers and learned that it was a fight. He then asked the person he had spoken to, "Are you done fighting now?"
"It's over," people said with smiles.
The auxiliary police officer asked, "Who was hit?"
Zhang Biao pointed to his face and said, "Isn't it obvious? I, I was hit."
The auxiliary police officer looked at me and Lao Wang and asked, "Did you two beat him up?"
Old Wang said, "It has nothing to do with him, I did it all by myself."
The third-level police superintendent said, "Alright, let's talk at the station."
Zhang Biao shouted, "Officer, please handcuff this man!"
The third-level superintendent pretended not to hear at all, and the auxiliary police officer said, "No need to call me uncle, you're older than both of us combined."
"I'm doing this out of respect for the government," Zhang Biao said weakly.
Li Ping seemed to want to say something to the police but held back, finally giving me a reassuring look that told me to relax and let it go.
Just then, someone shouted, "Durian God of War!"
The crowd burst into laughter, and many people joined in the shouting, leaving the two policemen completely bewildered.
Old Wang waved to the crowd, like a victorious hero returning home.
And so, amidst the cheers of the onlookers lining the streets, our group went to the police station.
