Blue Card Starry Sky

Chapter 4 Distress

Chapter 4 Distress
Lan Tian returned to the village and felt a pang of guilt seeing the villagers searching for him all over the mountains. His parents, seeing him disheveled and unkempt, were bewildered. His hair, cascading over his shoulders, made him look like a beggar, utterly wretched. The villagers were astonished, wondering what had happened to him in the Men'som Mountains the previous night. The Men'som Mountains had been filled with lightning and demonic energy the previous night, causing great concern. Thankfully, he had returned safely, relieving Lan Feng's worries. However, they didn't blame Lan Tian; seeing his state, they couldn't bring themselves to reprimand him.

Lan Tian went home, washed up, ate something, and then went out to sea with Lan Feng to fish. The sea was far from calm that day; a fierce storm soon arose, and huge waves raged against them, making their small boats rock violently. Lan Feng sensed something was wrong; it seemed today was truly not a good day to go out to sea. He was a bit overwhelmed; judging by the weather, they had to turn back immediately, otherwise the waves would become even larger, and their small boats would inevitably capsize, risking being swallowed by the sea. Therefore, Lan Feng ordered the five small boats to row back to the village as quickly as possible.

But just then, a pointed creature appeared in the distance and swam toward them. Soon after, two, three... groups of them appeared within a mile behind them.

"Oh no, it's a whale shark!" the team member in front shouted.

This is bad. Being targeted by the whale shark is almost certainly fatal, because they are powerful and experienced fighters. They attack in groups with premeditated attacks, and almost no one can survive an attack from such a sea monster and escape successfully.

These sea beasts travel in packs and are incredibly powerful. They are enormous with sharp teeth, capable of biting through a small boat with a single bite. Looking back, there seem to be over a dozen. He could fight off three or five, but so many, in swarms, made Lan Feng uneasy; he feared they wouldn't make it back. Trying to calm himself, Lan Feng was internally devastated, but looking at his people and Lan Tian beside him, he regained his composure. He immediately ordered Lan Tian to jump onto the adjacent small boat so his teammates could escort him to safety.

Lan Feng stayed behind to fight and hold off the enemy for a while, hoping to buy Lan Tian and the others a chance to escape. Lan Feng analyzed that the situation was likely dire, and he feared he wouldn't be able to return. He decided to try to get his team to escort Lan Tian back, while he could still hold them off for a bit, hoping they could leave this place safely.

"I won't leave. I want to fight alongside you." Lantian understood her father's intention and insisted on staying to fight alongside him, sharing life and death.

"Hurry up, Fatty, take this kid away as quickly as possible, and don't look back!" Lan Feng roared at his men. He knew he couldn't go back with so many Demon Whale Sharks this time! But in order to buy time for Lan Tian and the others to leave safely, he had to stay behind to have any hope of buying enough time.

“Brother Feng…” The fat man knew the urgency of the situation and could not delay. He dared not linger and was reluctant to part. He knew that this farewell would be forever. He glanced back at Lan Feng and then quickly rowed back with Lan Tian.

A whale shark had already swum to the front of Lan Feng's boat. Lan Feng immediately raised his bow and arrows, and a volley of arrows flew up. The whale shark hesitated for a moment when attacked, then suddenly swooped down even more ferociously, its blood-red maw tearing directly at the small boat.

"Click, click"

The stern of the boat had been bitten off by the whale shark, and the boat was tilting towards the stern. In an instant, Lan Feng's entire body was involuntarily guided towards the whale shark.

"Boom"

Lan Feng was thrown heavily onto the whale shark's head, instantly feeling dizzy. The whale shark, attacked by Lan Feng, was about to sink into the deep sea. Lan Feng quickly grabbed the small short sword from his waist and, with all his might, stabbed it into the whale shark's head.

With a sharp "snap," the short sword pierced the skull of the demonic whale shark as easily as cutting tofu. This short sword was a personal item that Lan Tian had carried with him since birth. It was incredibly sharp, capable of cutting through iron like mud, and indestructible—an exceptionally razor-sharp sword.

Instantly, the whale shark bled and died on the spot. Lan Feng immediately swam back to the small boat. The whale sharks behind him were further enraged by the death of their companion. They immediately swam over and surrounded Lan Feng, filling the damaged boat with whale sharks. The enraged whale sharks launched their strongest attack on the boat, and in an instant, seawater rushed into the boat, making it sway precariously and about to fall into the sea.

"whoosh whoosh"

At this critical moment, a sudden barrage of lightning bolts pierced the sky, illuminating the sea with white light.

"Bang, bang"

Each arrow exploded upon contact with the whale sharks, the powerful energy blasting their bodies apart. Several whale sharks died instantly from their explosions, while others were severely injured by the aftershocks. Caught off guard and unable to escape, the remaining whale sharks panicked and fled in all directions, disappearing in an instant. The danger was over.

Lan Feng was stunned, completely bewildered. He was on the verge of death, and then a barrage of lightning arrows changed everything? He couldn't believe it. Was it real? Who had saved him, and them all?
"Dad, are you alright?" Lan Tian called out from afar as he drove towards Lan Feng.

"It's nothing, just a minor injury," Lan Feng said to Lan Tian. Seeing that they were safe and sound, he felt relieved as the danger subsided.

"Fatty, hurry up and get these whale shark carcasses onto the boat. This is our spoils of war. Hurry, it's not safe here, get out of here as soon as possible." Lan Feng ordered his men to salvage the spoils and return to the ship as quickly as possible, away from this dangerous place.

Five small boats sped back. Before them lay a bloody mess: five or six mangled whale shark carcasses, blasted beyond recognition, a truly horrifying sight. How powerful and terrifying that volley of arrows had been! Lan Feng instructed everyone to quickly gather the whale sharks, load them onto the boats, and transport them back to the village.

Lan Tian also helped collect the spoils onto the ship, filling it to the brim. He smiled with satisfaction; this was his first time participating in such a brutal battle, and he had won in one fell swoop, the ship overflowing with trophies. After everyone finished salvaging the whale shark, they quickly sailed away. The stench of blood here would only attract even larger and more numerous sea monsters, which would be troublesome.

The storm at sea was still raging, but Lan Feng and his companions were undaunted and overjoyed. Each ship was loaded with the most spoils and the greatest harvest they had ever seen since setting sail. How could they not be excited! Now they could live in peace for a while longer and would never have to worry about food again.
