Chapter 9 Hanging Himself
The first phase of the interrogation of the Wallbreaker has ended, and Luo Qing listened to the entire interrogation process from outside the door.

The interrogator looked at Professor Luo Qing's charred robe with some confusion: "Mr. Wallfacer? What happened to you?"

"I was in a car accident on the way here. The car exploded, but I have already paid for the damaged guardrail."

No, is this about whether or not the guardrail will be compensated? The main point is how you got into the accident?

Seeing the interrogator's hesitant expression, Luo Qing patiently explained, "Don't worry, I still have more than 200 million in film and television fees and royalties, which can cover the compensation. I didn't use the Wallfacer's funds, and the car accident wasn't part of the plan."

Is the money the main issue? It's the car accident!

Luo Qing said, "May I go in and have a chat with my wallbreaker?"

The interrogator looked troubled: "According to the PDC Wallfacer Act, wallfacers should avoid direct contact with wallbreakers as much as possible, based on the wallfacer principle..."

"It's part of the plan."

"Oh, please, please." The interrogator made way for them.

Luo Qing tossed his long robe aside and strode inside.

...

Wallbreaker Number Five heard the noise and looked up again.

The moment he saw Luo Qing, his heart froze for a split second.

"Long time no see, my Mr. Wallbreaker."

Luo Qing sat opposite the wallbreaker, in the same spot where the interrogator had previously been sitting.

The wall-breaker lowered his head: "You heard everything?"

“No, I just arrived too. I will now conduct the second phase of the trial. Wallbreaker Evans, please be prepared.” Luo Qing said, opening his notebook and taking out a pencil, looking very professional.

The man who broke the wall clenched his fist. He even knew the man's name and claimed he hadn't been eavesdropping.

Luo Qing: "Before the second phase of the interrogation begins, is there anything you'd like to ask?"

Wallbreaker: "Was the video just now real?"

Luo Qing: "Which ones?"

The Wallbreaker: "Slay the sea with my sword, and pursue the Sophon."

Luo Qing: "Bao Zhen's brother."

Seeing that the person breaking through the wall seemed hesitant, Luo Qing condensed a wisp of sword intent and easily cut a corner out of the one-piece steel interrogation table. The triangular iron block flew back to Luo Qing's hand, then slowly turned red, softened, and finally turned into a ball of scalding red iron molten metal that rolled in the air.

The man who broke through the wall had no more illusions left. He asked, "How did you do that?"

The red molten iron returned to the corner of the table, solidifying back into a corner. Luo Qing, having returned it to its rightful owner, smiled slightly. This was the smile of the Wallfacer. The Wallbreaker was all too familiar with this smile; he knew he was destined never to get the real answer.

Luo Qing said, "My answer has been revealed many times, on the big screen."

The person who broke through the wall quickly went through all the movies and TV series that Luo Qing had acted in.

"Are you a cultivator?"

"Yes."

The wallbreaker took a deep breath, as if trying to convince himself to accept the answer.

"Alright, I've answered your question. Now it's my turn. Before that, would you like me to help you remove the handcuffs and relax a bit?"

The wall-breaker retorted, "Aren't you worried I'll run away?" As soon as he finished speaking, he realized that his question was a bit too foolish.

Luo Qing gave his "wall-breaker" a thumbs up: "There's a combined arms brigade stationed near Qincheng Prison. If I don't make a move, and you can escape, then you can start putting on a show."

The man who broke the wall remained silent, raising his hands in quiet contemplation. With a gentle tap from Luo Qing, the handcuffs, shackles, and restraint chair were all unlocked.

The wall-breaker stood up, moved around for a while, and then sat down again.

"Thank you, Mr. Wallfacer."

"Why are you being so polite with me? You're probably the one who understands me best in this world." Luo Qing smiled and shook his head.

Before the conversation between the two officially began, Luo Qing signaled to the staff to turn off all the surveillance cameras, as some things were not suitable for outsiders to hear.

The second phase of the 'interrogation' officially began.

Unlike the interrogator's professional and precise questioning, Luo Qing and Evans, the Wallfacer and the Wallbreaker, were like old friends who hadn't seen each other for many years. The two gradually opened up and started talking. Facing Luo Qing, whom he had been monitoring for five years, Evans quickly let down his guard as if he had given up.

The only bystander here was Tomoko.

Luo Qing seemed to be deliberately having Zhi Zi witness this conversation.

"Brother Wallbreaker, when did you start observing me?"

Five years ago, it was the third year of the Crisis Era.

"Hmm...so that means it was in 2010."

"Not only that, after you became a Wallfacer, I collected all your publicly available information, including information about your deceased parents, and established a comprehensive personality analysis starting from your childhood. This analysis of you has covered all your social circles before you became a Wallfacer. During this period, Zhizi provided me with a lot of help."

"What were the analysis results?"

"The result was terrible. I failed completely. Your past experiences and growth have absolutely no connection to your later Wallfacer career."

"Why do you say that?"

"Your present is completely separate from your past. As a child, you already showed exceptional intelligence. Thanks to your highly educated father, you received ample nurturing and were admitted to the University of Science and Technology of China's Junior Class in 1995. In 01, you went to Princeton University to pursue a PhD in theoretical physics under the tutelage of Edward Witten. At the age of 23, you completed a groundbreaking paper on cutting-edge physics theory."

During your postdoctoral research at Harvard University in 2004, your research findings were published as a cover article in Nature Physics (04). In 2006, at the age of 28, you were hired by Tsinghua University, setting a record for the oldest professor at the university. As of the time of the Guzheng Project, you were in charge of leading the national frontier project "Quantum Science 2020".

Unlike Dr. Luo Ji, who is cynical and carefree, from the astronomy department next door at the same university, you are a typical genius-type physicist. Compared to top physicists, your brilliance may be somewhat dim, but your achievements have already become a small cornerstone on the ladder of cutting-edge physics. Moreover, you are still young, and your future is limitless.

As Luo Qing listened to the introduction of his life story, he casually tapped the table.

"continue."

The wallbreaker paused, then continued, "Therefore, as a leading Chinese physics expert, you were quickly targeted by the organization during Ye Wenjie's time. You unexpectedly received an offer from the 'Science Frontier' Society and joined it."

"Within the Science Frontier Society, the ETO organization hidden beneath the Science Frontier attempted to recruit you as a member of the Science Frontier, but failed. Meanwhile, Sophons No. 1 and No. 2 arrived on Earth in 2005 and began disrupting the particle collider experiments on Earth. At that time, Evans also received direct instructions from the Sophons—to kill the science of Earth."

Luo Qing nodded, signaling him to continue.

"Frontier theoretical scholars have become targets of ETO's attacks, including you. Evans' era has arrived. The Judgment Day, hailed as the Third Red Coast Base, quickly started anew under Commander Ye Wenjie's nose. If Commander Ye Wenjie hadn't been arrested, with her prestige, she could still have regained control of ETO and suppressed the Adventists, but she was arrested."

"In the three years from 2005 to 2007, a total of 127 cutting-edge theoretical scholars committed suicide. Evans was initially relatively conservative, mainly using sophons to perform miracles to induce scientists to commit suicide. However, he felt that this method was too slow, so he began to fabricate accidental events to actively assassinate scientists from various countries."

"This high-profile behavior quickly attracted the attention of countries around the world, and a cross-border joint operations center, which is the prototype of today's PDC, was established. After Ye Wenjie led you to arrest them, the Judgment Day was also destroyed."

“I know all this history. Get to the point.”

"The key point? The key point is that you, as the target of the Adventists, did not commit suicide. After witnessing the miracle of 'Cosmic Flicker,' you locked yourself in the laboratory and did not see anyone for more than two months. Then you actually figured it out on your own."

Wallbreaker No. 5 gave a bitter smile: "And Zhizi didn't pay attention to you during this time. This is the Lord's biggest mistake. No one knows what kind of transformation you underwent in those months. You are different from those scholars who committed suicide."

Several images of people hanging themselves flashed through Luo Qing's memory, and her expression trembled almost imperceptibly.

Fortunately, the Wallbreaker didn't notice this, and Somoko also simply interpreted it as a natural twitch of the facial nerves.

The wall-breaker's explanation continues.
