Chapter 45 Handle with care
Milton returned to the underground fortress of the pharmacy and touched the PKM repeatedly.

Just before Brandon and Veronica's eyes were about to turn sour, Milton finally reluctantly put down the machine gun, waved his hand and said, "Veronica, you continue to guard the pharmacy; Brandon, go to the awards ceremony, don't wander around aimlessly."

"Boss, do you need to use my car? Didn't you give your car to Horn?"

“No need.” Milton refused to use the wrecked car that Brandon hadn’t even taken to the repair shop yet. “I’ll buy my own car. You should fix yours yourself.”

Veronica and Lutz both drive motorcycles, and Milton is even less likely to use one.

They have the money to buy a new car, but because they have so much money, they are now having some trouble making a decision.

So in the end, Milton still had to choose a car himself.

Since he wouldn't need red points to buy civilian vehicles anyway, Milton simply opened the system and started making his selection.

Brandon, beaming, said, "Okay, I'll go first and see how much bonus the police department is willing to give me this time... Hmm, maybe I can even be promoted to sheriff, haha."

Watching Brandon's beat-up car drive away, Milton looked down, opened the dashboard, and began browsing the car market.

"They're all used cars, and the selection isn't complete... We're just too small-scale; many prizes have redemption restrictions."

Milton glanced around and saw that the vast majority of the cars were familiar models.

Ford, Chevrolet, Toyota, Buick...

But the vast majority are cars and pickup trucks.

Milton wanted to find a real off-road vehicle as his ride—in a country with underdeveloped infrastructure, a car with good off-road capabilities can sometimes be extremely useful.

“There are very few off-road vehicles available, such as the Nissan Patrol and Ford Bronco…” While Milton was choosing, he suddenly spotted a very eye-catching car.

The Land Rover Defender 90 has BFG all-terrain tires and has been modified with a 5.0L V8 engine!

This is a great vehicle, and it has great potential for modification. At least adding a machine gun platform to the roof wouldn't be a problem.

Because it's a used car, there are a few minor issues, but overall it's in excellent condition!
The only minor issue that can't be optimized is that this car consumes fuel as much as a prostitute drinks tequila... even on highways, the fuel consumption is as high as 18L/100km.

"No, that's not right. The high price is my problem, not the car's problem."

Having stared at it for so long, Milton knew that this Land Rover Defender was the car of his dreams.

Milton gritted his teeth, clicked on the specific information of the Land Rover Defender, and looked at the price tag.

Even though he was mentally prepared, Milton was still stunned for a while.

"Nearly 50 points?! Even if it's not red points, isn't this price a bit outrageous?!"

After deducting the red points that can't be used recklessly and need to be saved to buy armored vehicles, Milton now only has a little over 50 regular points left.

On the black market, a Land Rover Defender of this year and condition would fetch no more than $8. Of course, generally speaking, there's no market for such a car.

The price tag of 50 points is indeed terrifying.

“…It’s better than taking the points to the grave.” Milton felt a pang of regret, but ultimately chose to redeem them. “It’s reasonable, isn’t it? All the redeemed items on the panel have gone through legal procedures, which alone makes them quite valuable.”

After a brief period of deliberation, Milton still spent the 50 points.

[Redeem successful. Due to the presence of other vehicles in the garage, this car will temporarily be located in an unoccupied area. Please pick it up within 20 minutes. The address is...]

Milton was a little impatient. He casually said goodbye to Veronica and quickly headed towards the pick-up point marked on the panel.

A few minutes later, in a grove of trees, Milton saw a tall, square box covered with a canvas.

Suppressing his excitement, Milton pulled back the canvas, revealing a brand-new, olive-green Land Rover Defender.

Like everyone who has just picked up their car, Milton first walked around and inspected it – original roll cage, front steel protective net, tubular rear bumper, and aftermarket snorkel – all very good!

Front and rear rigid axles, coil springs, Bilstein steering dampers – very good, excellent! The air conditioner and CD player seem to be aftermarket additions, but the cooling effect is good. The CD player is also a Sony, and the quality is very good.

After ignition, the sound from the V8 engine is even more pleasing to the ear.

It's pleasing to the eye no matter how you look at it.

This is what it feels like to "love your car"!
"Soft-top convertible... There might be potential for bulletproof modifications later, but I'm out of points and money, so let's leave it at that for now."

Milton knew what the important thing was, quickly regained his composure, and drove the new car toward the "Quick Delivery" Chinese restaurant.

The car's rugged design, roaring engine, and obviously hefty price tag attracted a lot of attention along the way.

After parking the car, Milton went into the restaurant.

The owner, a mixed-race man who appeared to have Chinese ancestry, immediately came out to greet Milton as he entered the restaurant, smiling obsequiously, "Sir, what would you like to eat today?"

Even if he didn't know Milton, he knew that someone who could drive such a car was not someone to be trifled with.

He was prepared to be ripped off.

Milton longed for his hometown and had little special affection for overseas Chinese. He pulled out 200 guildhal notes and said casually, "I'll take your restaurant for two hours. Everyone else, leave now. I'll pay the bill."

Who wouldn't be happy to eat for free? The other customers didn't object at all, immediately packed the remaining food into plastic bags, and left the restaurant quickly.

Upon seeing the 200 qchar handed over, the restaurant owner was overjoyed—earning 200 in just two hours, this job was worth it.

"Sir, please have a seat. I'll get you some water. Just tell me what you'd like to eat. I'll bring you the TV remote; you can watch whatever you like!"

Sigh... In the end, I still had to eat Americanized Chinese food.

Milton looked at the unappetizing menu and finally ordered a chicken stir-fry and broccoli stir-fried with beef, which he found relatively acceptable.

As for the television channel, Milton didn't switch—it just so happened that local news was being broadcast on it.

“Local councilor López de Mendoza has pledged that if elected to parliament, he will push for pharmaceutical reforms in the region. He promises his reforms will protect the patents and interests of pharmaceutical companies, enabling them to develop more drugs for treating diseases; at the same time, he will accelerate the privatization of health insurance.”

"He claimed that doing so would increase the variety of drugs and significantly reduce the cost of medication."

"Currently, Lopez's approval rating has exceeded 48%..."

"A prison break has occurred at Malacan Town Jail; the prisoners have not yet been found..."

"..."

"A major drug smuggling case has been busted in Malacan, resulting in the deaths of several police officers in a gang attack. It is understood that the Qing Teng Charitable Foundation has been embroiled in a major scandal during this smuggling operation, with several senior executives arrested."

"The local court stated that they strongly condemn and will not tolerate such criminal behavior. Several executives of the Qing Teng Foundation may face up to one year in prison, hefty fines, and large bail."

"Several executives stated that they were completely unaware of what the employees had done and would hire lawyers to protect their legitimate rights."

"The police department has decided to commend several brave officers..."

"..."

Milton picked up a mouthful of noodles with his fork and shook his head slightly—a “major scandal” that had caused the deaths of countless people, including children and pregnant women, was being treated so lightly.

One year? Milton was quite certain that these people wouldn't even need to go to jail.

The local border control, police station, and courts are all under their control. Even if they are caught red-handed, even if the charges are irrefutable, so what? To them, it's just the loss of one project.

Milton watched the news for a while longer, and around 15:30 p.m., a tall man walked in and sat down at the table.

“'Hell Tax Collector' Milton? I’m here for an interview.”
