Deadly Trap.

Chapter 16, Glock 17

Chapter 16. Glock 17
Clearly, Su Yan knew the apartment intimately. She neither asked her daughter to help her inside; nor did the seriously ill blind man even once reach out to offer assistance.

"Su Li".

Finally, after hearing a door click shut, seemingly sealing itself tightly, Gu Mufeng lowered his voice and gently helped Su Li, who was still clutching her wrist and pale-faced, to her feet: "Come here."

"how……?"

Clearly, Su Li was inexplicably distracted. She showed no reaction to Gu Mufeng's touch, but she couldn't be more unwilling.

Perhaps out of mechanical compliance with the string of zeros from that morning, or perhaps because she simply didn't want to be alone at this moment, Su Li followed Gu Mufeng out of the living room at a distance that was neither too close nor too far.

Her mind was tormented by a thousand thoughts: doubts, confusion, and even fear. Like a drumbeat, she staggered, her heart pounding.

Almost instinctively, Su Li glanced nervously towards the end of the corridor.

The end of the corridor was completely dark. The bedroom door seemed to be tightly shut. In the complete darkness, an old painting hung in the air, with faint ink writing in the blank spaces:

"In a certain month of a certain year, your younger brother respectfully congratulates you and your wife on your housewarming and presents you with a pair of wild geese."

With a heart full of trepidation and without stopping for a moment, Su Li was pushed into the entrance hall, only to find herself unwittingly caught in Gu Mufeng's hunting range.

He braced himself against the wall with his left hand, completely blocking her from the corridor. His right hand lifted the hem of his gray suit jacket and casually tucked it into his trouser pocket, already waiting for her to walk right into his trap.

His broad shoulders and imposing stature loomed forward menacingly, forcing Su Li to press herself tightly against the wall, standing ramrod straight under his tight protection.

His handsome, expressionless face loomed above her, his indifferent eyes looking down into the depths of her pupils, as if trying to see right through her.

"Gu Mufeng!" Coming to her senses, Su Li gritted her teeth and hissed, "You're shameless! What do you mean by cohabitation!"

Her cheeks flushed quickly.

Completely surrounded and pressured by his figure, Su Li spoke coldly, her fingers like knives piercing his heart. She raised her head proudly, lowered her voice, and remained unmoved: "You'd better explain yourself now. Otherwise—"

"Otherwise?" He stared coldly at her as she lashed out.

"I just—" After thinking for a long time, Su Li couldn't come up with anything to say. What could she do to Gu Mufeng?

Is he trying to blackmail me into leaving him?

She could even hallucinate Gu Mufeng's contemptuous snorts.

"It doesn't matter. Listen."

Clearly seeing through Su Li's thoughts, Gu Mufeng's eyes suddenly became as still as water. His gaze rippled like waves, as if touched by a dragonfly, and in an instant, the emotions in his eyes surged.

As if caught in his sudden, subtle emotion, Su Li's breath trembled slightly.

Gu Mufeng silently removed his left hand from the wall. The next second, his fingertips were already lightly touching the edge of Su Li's earlobe. There, a thin line of blood scab appeared where the earring had cut through.

His voice was soft but firm: "Wait for my call anytime, okay?"

Gently push with your breath.

These lips, it turns out, can also speak with tenderness and affection.

He was so close, turning his head slightly, their lips almost touching...

Su Li held her breath.

“This time, I won’t send anyone to watch you anymore.” He said gently but earnestly, “But I require you to tell me anything immediately. Anything. Only me.”

Meaningfully, he continued to knead her earlobe with his fingertips, as if to make sure she was listening attentively:
"I need you to be available whenever I call."

Ugh. It's still that cold, aloof, condescending, and self-righteous face.

This person's personality is truly capricious and willful.

Su Li was about to shove Gu Mufeng away. She had already tolerated him for a day; any longer, and she was afraid she would really lose her temper completely.

With impatience, just as her bandaged hands pushed against his chest, Gu Mufeng quietly leaned down and whispered in her ear.

His breath suddenly came too close. Moist and warm, he gently teased her sensitive earlobe. This made Su Li involuntarily…recall…last night, with him…

Su Li instinctively tensed her body, suppressing her primal desire for him. Instantly, her cheeks flushed with a mixture of embarrassment and anger: "You—!"

"Su Li." At the same time, his voice was deep and magnetic, almost too soft for her to hear, "Be careful of your mother."

"What?" Su Li's hands, which were pressed tightly against his solid shirt that revealed his heartbeat and body heat, suddenly felt empty—she blurted out the question. However, Gu Mufeng said nothing more.

Without even glancing at Su Li again, he turned and disappeared into the deep gray winter outside the door.

Su Li stood rooted to the spot, her breath catching in her throat, cold sweat beading on her palms. She touched her burning earlobe, as if his breath were still there. He could still protect her like he had just moments before, letting her run wild.

Gu Mufeng would never know...

Silently, Su Li turned around. She stared sadly at the silent door at the end of the corridor.

The house was eerily quiet. It was as if she were the only person in the house.

I don't know when it happened, but the sky, which was a bright, clear blue this morning, has now faded into a heavy, inky gray, as if it were about to collapse. Fine snowflakes are falling from the sky.

The wind wasn't strong. But the damp chill of this coastal city in winter was pervasive, penetrating deep into your bones.

The surrounding suburbs were desolate, deserted, and unusually quiet. When he arrived, Gu Mufeng had parked his car in a secluded spot; now, he was silently walking back to his car alone.

The hem of his pure black wool coat billowed with each step, and his phone vibrated muffledly a few times in his breast pocket. He ignored it.

In his mind, a report that he had personally burned page by page until it turned to ashes, word by word, in black and white, clearly emerged:
Name: Su Yan

Education: Master of Music from Manhattan School of Music, New York.

Occupation: Former professor. Former pianist. Retired due to illness. Currently working as a private tutor.

Marital status: Divorced.

Children: Su Li. See another report for details.

Presenter: X
Su Yan. I never expected her to be such an extraordinary woman.

Just before he parted ways with Su Li, a sudden, icy alertness gripped his heart. His gaze swept across the room.

The door at the end of the corridor slowly closed a crack, as if someone was constantly listening to his and Su Li's every move, forcing him to put on an act of tenderness.

Su Yan. She appears gentle and harmless, so why does she make him feel like he's facing a formidable enemy? Her deliberate questioning, the cruel details of her death she tells him, and why doesn't she separate the couple?

It seems the secrets behind this woman are far more complex and dangerous than he anticipated. He has met his match and must proceed with caution.

As he walked steadily forward, in his mind, Gu Mufeng seemed to be walking swiftly down a towering spiral staircase and arriving at his unique private library.

His proud visual memory compiled all his experiences into a book, and now, everything that had happened that afternoon was like a disassembled play, slowing down and replaying on the stage in front of him.

The suburbs were eerily quiet, but Gu Mufeng seemed oblivious. He walked silently alone, undisturbed, lost in thought for a long time.

"If I were to be cruel to Su Li, I would be a strict mother with a loving child..."

Finally grasping the key point, Gu Mufeng's lips curled into a look of disgust, revealing a barely perceptible self-deprecating smile. He wouldn't let Su Li become a bargaining chip for coercion.

"Ah, so you're Gu Mufeng."

Just a dozen steps away from his matte night-blue Panamera Turbo S parked on the street, an exaggerated voice suddenly rang out from behind.

The laughter, suppressed in his throat, couldn't hide the excitement and twisted joy of his success: "Truly, it's an honor to witness this."

Immediately afterwards, an unusually crisp "crack" sounded, a faint metallic clang.

Gu Mufeng's heart skipped a beat, and a chill instantly shot from his spine to his brain.

The gun was pressed against the back of his head.

He curled his lips into a cruel smile: This was exactly what he wanted.
