Su Li finally left the campus after 10 p.m. After much trouble, she carefully finalized the building materials samples, and on her way out, she unexpectedly ran into Yu He.
With her departure abroad imminent and unable to refuse their hospitality, she went to He Bao's dorm to sit with a few of her close friends. After a couple of glasses of red wine, the group interrogated Su Li about her private life with her "male god" in a rather unconventional manner before finally letting her go.
Under the car headlights, the winter wind and heavy snow lashed at them fiercely; the oppressive force of nature was omnipresent, seeping into their very bones. Inside the car, Su Li, however, felt lightheaded:
She has always had a clear goal and knew where she wanted to go; but more importantly, she is no longer afraid.
She became more determined and clearer about how to achieve it.
She has bread, a skill, and a future; now, she also has a close confidant and a warm home.
At this moment, the world seemed to become clear and bright.
Just as Su Li was feeling quite satisfied, red and blue police lights suddenly flashed behind the car. The lights drew closer, and in the darkness, she could barely see them: "No way!"
Left with no other choice, Su Li slowly pulled the car over to the side of the road. She hugged herself tightly, biting her lip, pondering what to do.
The snow blurred her vision in the rearview mirror: a man in a police uniform was getting out of the car. The snow was swirling and messy, and Su Li couldn't make out his face beneath the brim of his hat. The walkie-talkie on his chest swayed precariously with his steps.
The officer put one hand on his waist and knocked on the window with the other. Reluctantly, Su Li rolled down the car window.
The car windows were tinted; only then did her face appear behind the window. The other person paused slightly, looked down, and subconsciously lowered their hand from their waist.
"Could you please open the car door?"
Having never encountered traffic police before, Su Li looked completely bewildered. With snow falling heavily, this request seemed rather unreasonable. But what could she do when the police were carrying out their duties?
A cold wind blew in. She obediently pushed open the car door.
Pressing down on the open car door, the officer slowly spoke: "Madam, are you aware that you were speeding?"
"No, I don't think so," Su Li whispered tentatively.
Just now, she thought of Mu Fei and their home, and perhaps her heart was so eager to return that she drove a tiny bit too fast.
"Driving at 60 on a road with a speed limit of 40; ma'am, here is your driver's license."
Su Li doesn't have a driver's license. After all, driving is a small matter; one can learn to drive in three months. But getting a driver's license is a long shot. Besides, she doesn't usually have a car to drive.
Feeling guilty, she glanced furtively and her eyes met those of the traffic police officer.
It seems like something is not right.
Over the years, Su Li's adeptness at navigating social situations and her habit of reading people had taken hold. In Su Li's eyes, the traffic policeman even seemed somewhat guilty: his expression was hesitant, and his eyes were subtly scrutinizing her. The walkie-talkie hung on his lapel, the small green light on the communication screen constantly glowing, but there was no sound.
Also, from the very beginning, the man was slightly taken aback the moment he saw her behind the window.
Su Li noticed something interesting: half of a gun handle was faintly visible behind the traffic police officer's waist. But do traffic police officers carry firearms when on duty?
During her exchange studies abroad, she also played with simulated targets.
These thoughts flashed through Su Li's mind for only a moment. Before her eyes, the police officer was still pressing down on the car door; at that moment, there were two "clicks" from his chest radio, like someone coughing softly.
With a tender smile, Su Li turned gracefully. From the car, she extended a stunningly curved leg encased in black high-heeled boots. Almost instantly, the man's gaze fell upon her thigh beneath her skirt.
A strange light flashed in the man's eyes.
“Officer, look,” Su Li’s peach blossom eyes, as natural and expressive as her soft lips, seemed to speak volumes, “The snow was so heavy, I might not have been paying attention to my speed…”
Like silk, her breath flowed with her every breath, her voice soft and tender: "Could you please let me off this time?"
Her voice trailed off. Although the traffic police were cautious, they still moved closer.
Just as the man was about to press down on the pistol behind his waist, Su Li suddenly raised the leg outside the car, swung it in a wide arc from the knee, and kicked the man's groin with a solid kick to the toe of her shoe.
Like a thin sheet of paper, the man slid softly to his knees in front of her.
Without a shred of pity, Su Li followed up with another kick to the man's face, as if kicking away a mere stumbling block. She simply kicked him away from the car door.
She slammed the car door shut, locked it, and slammed her right foot on the accelerator; the engine roared furiously, the wheels whipping through the snow and wind. Like a wild beast, she charged forward.
"Oops. Report! Target incorrect!"
Snowflakes drifted down, covering the ground. In the middle of the road, a man in a police uniform huddled together, groaning and panting for a while before managing to utter broken, human voices:
"Damn it! That bitch! It's Q! Q ran away!"
In the wind and snow, the matte night sky blue Panamera took the lead. To Su Li's surprise, this seemingly useless toy was now completely at her beck and call, working very well.
With both hands gripping the steering wheel tightly as if grasping at a lifeline, Su Li grew increasingly frightened: it seemed the other party knew this car belonged to Gu Mufei.
So, if Mu Fei had been in the car just now, would he have opened fire immediately? Would he have acted like Wang Yuchuan?
Su Li was sweating profusely.
She dared not think too much about it; she had to inform Mu Fei immediately.
But after searching through her handbag and coat pockets, she couldn't find her phone. It couldn't be... Su Li bit her lip. She'd been so careless during her enjoyable get-together with her friends that she'd left her phone at Yu He's house... Oh my god. Su Li rubbed her forehead. She hated herself for being so stupid.
In any case, she couldn't just drive straight to Mu Fei; she couldn't reveal his location to Tang Quan.
In a rush, Su Li glanced hastily at the rearview mirror. She hoped, wished, that behind her there was only night and heavy snow. She hoped she had made a mistake; that she had simply assaulted a police officer.
But things didn't go as planned. Not far away, at some unknown time, two black cars appeared from both sides, following closely like shadows, determined to succeed.
Now, she has only herself left.
Terrified, Su Li's heart was racing; her ten fingernails dug stiffly into the leather steering wheel. Her jaw clenched, and tears welled in her eyes, blurring her vision. She tried her best to remain calm.
She wasn't originally the target. The unexpected turn of events, the other party's inability to react immediately, gave her a chance to escape. Now, Tang Quan has most likely recognized her and is devising a new plan: most likely, it's another kidnapping.
Kidnapping?
Suddenly, the image of Sheng Chunqiu's lecherous and despicable behavior in front of the mall that day flashed back into Su Li's mind.
One hundred million?
She sneered.
Hmph. Whatever she wants, she won't let Mu Fei pay; she won't be humiliated. This body, she only lets those she's willing touch; it's her decision.
She's certainly not an expert at throwing people off a car, but she won't give up when it comes to coming up with ideas!
In Su Li's hands, the conspicuous luxury car practically flew close to the ground, flashing lights at every surveillance camera it passed. Su Li had made up her mind: as long as the police noticed her, she would be safe even without a driver's license.
Unfortunately, it's the middle of the night! And this weather! Plus, it's the end of the university year, and this is a deserted, run-down place!
With a struggle, Su Li turned the steering wheel: it was quite heavy. Out of control, the car skidded. It seemed that Gu Mufeng had once told her that this car wasn't very suitable for snow.
However, he also casually remarked that if you don't want to be surrounded, you should avoid intersections.
With a sharp drift, Su Li almost darted onto the Minpu Expressway.
Although it was nearly 11 p.m., the expressway leading straight into the city center was not deserted. Amidst the swirling traffic, Su Li used all her skills to weave in and out; but the pursuers on both sides were relentlessly close behind.
Clearly, the enemy had discerned her intentions. Soon, several more vehicles joined them along the road, like orcas calmly surrounding a lone dolphin on a vast ocean. The encirclement around her gradually tightened, becoming increasingly smaller.
She can't delay any longer.
Braving the wind and snow, urged on relentlessly, Su Li sped up. The gray road seemed endlessly swallowed by the car headlights; as far as the eye could see, the dark Parrot River, separated only by a narrow strip of water, gradually drew closer. The highway slowly turned left.
To the right, the magnificent cityscape flashes by in a blur; in the middle of the waves, the horizon of Pear Island sparkles with frost, seemingly within reach.
Mu Fei is there. But she can't go to Pear Island.
Just across the river, the yacht marina was bustling with activity, and the night market and Ferris wheel stretched along the riverbank. Go there: as long as she blended into the crowd, Tang Quan wouldn't be able to find her again tonight.
Gripping the steering wheel tightly, her palms already soaked with sweat, Su Li couldn't help but smile radiantly.
The moment she fell in love with Gu Mufeng, in the quiet of the night in her dormitory, she already knew the consequences.
Apart from herself, she fears nothing else; if it happens a few more times, she will fall passionately in love with him.
If you take control of yourself, life can be as simple as driving a car—
The taillights flickered, flashing briefly as the truck dodged the light, and the car sped off the exit. The city center was dotted with buildings. Ahead, not far ahead, as she moved forward, the avenue ended, and the river gradually widened.
The yacht cuts through the flowing water and shimmering light, while the snowflakes fall like pear blossoms.
A black SUV suddenly veered out of the way, its headlights shining like the sun. Su Li swerved sharply.
Out of control, the matte night sky blue Panamera Turbo S veered off the road, into the park bushes, and onto the river embankment railing, like a shooting star—
Flames flew everywhere.
The bustling Pear Island was reflected in the water, the riverbank ablaze with crimson light. Fireworks should have been fleeting; yet now, the flames roared to the heavens. Crowds gathered. The firelight and heat scalded every pair of eyes in the crowd, searing every face.
He jumped off the black SUV and hurriedly squeezed into the crowd, his face full of astonishment.
The sounds of fire and wind raced in a reverberation. Two faint "clicks" came through his wireless earpiece, barely audible, like a gentle cough.
Delayed.
"President. Mission failed. She's dead."
