Chapter 2 Stockpiling Supplies (1)

She put all the belongings she had accumulated abroad over the years into her personal space, then, carrying only a small backpack, embarked on her journey back to China.

On her first day back in China, Su Nuannuan went straight to the country's largest grain wholesale market. Many schools and large companies purchase their grains from here, ensuring quality.

Su Nuannuan rented a warehouse ten kilometers away from the grain wholesale market. After doing all this, she immediately went to the grain wholesale market.

"Boss, I need 2,000 catties each of rice and wheat flour, 1,000 catties each of millet, red beans, mung beans, and corn, and 1,000 catties of cooking oil."

The boss came from a farming background in northern China and was a very generous and magnanimous person.

"Wow, girl, you want so much!"

Su Nuannuan smiled slightly and made up a reason.

"The company plans to expand its workforce this year, and the boss asked us to purchase more supplies."

"Young lady, you've come at just the right time. A batch of grain just arrived this morning, exactly the amount you need. Since you bought a lot, I'll give you an extra 300 jin of sorghum flour. That'll be 50,000 yuan in total."

Su Nuannuan paid the deposit, and the boss began to arrange for people to load the goods.

"Hey girl, do you want some meat? My friend owns a slaughterhouse nearby, they have fresh pork and chicken..."

"You want what you want."

Su Nuannuan was just wondering where she could buy some meat when the shop owner offered to help her.

"If you want to go, I'll ask my friend to give you a 20% discount."

"Okay, thank you, boss."

Having obtained the address of the slaughterhouse, Su Nuannuan headed straight for her destination.

"Are you Miss Su?"

As soon as Su Nuannuan arrived, a burly, middle-aged man came towards her.

"Boss, I want 100 pigs and 2000 chickens, all freshly slaughtered."

The boss beamed with joy upon hearing Su Nuannuan's words, never expecting his older brother's introduction of such a wealthy client. He pulled out a calculator, his fingers flying across the keyboard as he read out the prices of pork and chicken.

"A pig costs you 1500 yuan, and a chicken costs 20 yuan. You need 100 pigs and 2000 chickens, which would be 19 yuan in total. I'll round it down to 19 yuan."

The moment the price was revealed, Su Nuannuan gasped. She hadn't expected her wallet to be so much thinner in an instant.

That's why she only orders pork and chicken.

Having paid the deposit as well, Su Nuannuan gave the warehouse address to the boss. After visiting two places, Su Nuannuan felt exhausted. She booked a hotel nearby, ate dinner, and began planning her shopping list for the next few days.

The next day, Su Nuannuan woke up early, had breakfast at the restaurant, and went straight to the warehouse she rented.

When she arrived, the warehouse was already filled with supplies. After sending the security guard away, Su Nuannuan began to store the supplies into her spatial storage.

Looking at the bloody pork and chicken, Su Nuannuan showed a disgusted expression. She was thankful that she had ten separate preservation compartments in her space; otherwise, having these still-dripping pork and chicken together with whatever else would have felt filthy.

After collecting the supplies, Su Nuannuan paid the remaining money and headed to her next destination—the fruit and vegetable seed wholesale market.

Originally, she wanted to buy some fruits and vegetables directly, but she was dismayed to find that they were more expensive than grains. Thinking of the ten acres of unused land in her space, Su Nuannuan decided to buy seeds directly. She could grow whatever she wanted to eat.

As usual, after arriving at her destination, Su Nuannuan rented a warehouse in advance.

The seeds of fruits and vegetables grown here are famous throughout the country. I heard that they have a collaboration with the Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and the fruits and vegetables they grow are large and sweet.

She first ordered a batch of common fruit tree seedlings, including apples, peaches, bananas, loquats, pomegranates, lychees, and so on. She ordered one hundred seedlings of each type, spending a total of 8000 yuan. She also bought some common edible vegetables and seeds of fruits such as strawberries, watermelons, and grapes, spending 1000 yuan.

After having the shop owner deliver the goods to her door, she went to the largest department store in the vicinity.

I bought a lot of snacks and daily necessities. Instant foods included instant noodles, self-heating hot pot, and hot and sour noodles… Seasonings included salt, sugar, soy sauce, and hot pot base, as well as various canned goods, dumplings, glutinous rice balls, ice cream, and various frozen foods. Of course, I also bought dried meat, potato chips, biscuits, jelly, and other snacks.

Of course, the most important daily necessities were also included: toilet paper, sanitary napkins, towels, shampoo, shower gel, toothpaste, soap, and so on. These were all purchased according to department store standards, enough for Su Nuannuan to use for several lifetimes. The total purchase amount was 50 yuan. Because of the large amount bought, the store owner gifted Su Nuannuan a complete set of home appliances, including a washing machine, refrigerator, air conditioner, water heater…

This made Su Nuannuan very happy, as she was worried that the second floor of her small attic was empty. With this furniture, she could create a cozy and practical little home.

After finishing this round of shopping, Su Nuannuan also booked a hotel, waiting to receive the goods tomorrow.

The next day, after settling the final payment, Su Nuannuan stored all the goods in her spatial storage. After several busy days, she finally had a chance to catch her breath.

Since acquiring the space, she has always felt a sense of urgency, which only subsides when she fills everything into it.

After resting for two days, Su Nuannuan embarked on another supply-stocking trip, this time heading to the clothing wholesale market. First, she bought 100 military-style overcoats. Then came summer dresses, short-sleeved shirts, blouses… she bought thousands of items in different sizes, along with spring and autumn coats and trousers, winter down jackets and floral cotton-padded coats, and most importantly, underwear. In total, she spent 35 yuan. The shop owner, a young woman from Guangdong, assumed Su Nuannuan was a businesswoman and gave her a hundred sets of pajamas as a gift.

Leaving the clothing wholesale market, Su Nuannuan saw another fabric processing factory across the street. This was an old-fashioned clothing factory on the verge of closing down, with a large stock of old-fashioned cotton and floral fabrics piled up inside. These fabrics would seem outdated and unfashionable to people today, but for people in the 1960s, they were the most fashionable items. Su Nuannuan bought all the old-fashioned fabrics in the factory, along with two sewing machines. It cost a total of five thousand yuan. Su Nuannuan was delighted with the cheap price of the fabrics, and the factory manager was relieved to have finally cleared out this batch of goods.

She then went to a nearby shoe factory and bought ten pairs of shoes of various styles, including men's, women's, elderly, and children's shoes, spending a total of 4000 yuan.

After storing the goods in her spatial storage, Su Nuannuan arrived at Yiwu City, known as the "China Commodity City".

Before arriving, Su Nuannuan had contacted the manager and ordered a batch of vintage items from the 1960s and 70s. She ordered quite a few, including Phoenix brand bicycles, Hero brand fountain pens, Shanghai brand watches, and sewing machines. If she really traveled back to the 1960s, these would be her start-up capital. She especially loved the watches—small, convenient, and easy to carry—ordering five thousand of them in one go. The total cost was 250,000 yuan.
