Chapter 449 The Sordid Work

Su Nuannuan knew about Su Jianjun and Chen Xiuting's health condition, but others didn't.

People will just think you want to bring two old people, almost in their graves, to work in the factory. This will not only affect efficiency, but if one of them dies in the factory, who will they complain to?

Not to mention, Su Jianjun was still injured and had been poisoned by enemy agents. Now, no matter how much money Su Nuannuan and Su Sanquan offered, no one was willing to take Su Jianjun and Chen Xiuting in.

The two of them helped their parents find jobs, which was more tiring than working for themselves.

Another fruitless trip. Chu Mingzhou massaged Su Nuannuan's shoulders, who was exhausted and collapsed on the sofa, and said.

"Or, I could find someone to get Dad a job guarding the gate at the pharmaceutical factory."

Su Nuannuan's eyes lit up, then quickly dimmed, and she said.

"Let's forget about it. The gatekeepers at your pharmaceutical factory are all retired soldiers. I'm really afraid that Dad will put the job on our heads if we have to compete with them."

Although Su Jianjun did not serve in the army for very long, the people he admired most were these soldiers.

In particular, the veterans in these positions all have some degree of physical disability. Without the work provided by the organization, they would have trouble even getting food.

After Su Nuannuan finished speaking, Chu Mingzhou didn't bring it up again.

Just as the two were in silence, Du Dalun suddenly arrived at their home.

Su Nuannuan quickly got up and poured tea for Du Dalun.

"Brother Da Lun, it's been a long time."

Du Dalun took the tea, a smile spreading across his face, and said.

"Your tea is the best."

Chu Mingzhou's lips curled into a smile as he spoke.

"If it tastes good, drink more. Take half a jin home with you later."

Du Dalun's eyes lit up.

"Okay! Thank you all."

After finishing his tea, Du Dalun finally spoke up about the purpose of his visit.

"I heard you're looking for a job for Brother Jianjun?"

Upon hearing Du Dalun's address to Su Jianjun, both of them twitched their lips.

When Su Nuannuan and Chu Mingzhou learned that Du Dalun and Su Jianjun were addressing each other as brothers, they corrected them. However, the two continued to do as they pleased.

Thus, Du Dalun began to address Chu Mingzhou as his younger brother and Su Jianjun as his elder brother.

Su Nuannuan was utterly helpless. She told Liu Zhaodi about it, but Liu Zhaodi wasn't ashamed at all; instead, she saw it as a sign of close ties between the two families. She even encouraged Du Dalun to visit Chu Mingzhou and Su Jianjun more often.

Chu Mingzhou nodded upon hearing Du Dalun's words.

"Yes, Brother Lun. Do you have any connections?"

Chu Mingzhou knew Du Dalun quite well. If the other party didn't have connections, he definitely wouldn't have approached him about this.

Su Nuannuan's eyes lit up as well.

Du Dalun nodded and said.

"There is a job that would be perfect for Brother Jianjun and his wife. However, it might be a bit of a hassle for your wife to find someone suitable."

Su Nuannuan pointed to herself, puzzled, and said.

"I?"

Du Dalun nodded and said.

"Yes. The person transferring the job is named Hutong, a 53-year-old retired veteran. His son is serving in the army and injured his leg during a mission last month. The doctor said the leg is beyond repair, and the son is now facing discharge. He hopes you can help heal his son. If you can cure him, this job can be transferred to you free of charge."

Su Nuannuan was overwhelmed with mixed feelings, unsure whether to inquire about the work first or the patient's condition. This was the current state of healthcare in China; there weren't many excellent doctors. Many patients who could be cured with minor surgery were left untreated until they became incapacitated.

If this person is the breadwinner of a family, then that family is ruined.

For the first time, Su Nuannuan felt that she had not fully utilized her abilities and had not brought her "golden touch" to its fullest potential.

There are many people in China who are struggling to make a living as ordinary people, but she only thinks about her own personal safety.

This made Su Nuannuan feel somewhat ashamed.

Su Nuannuan didn't inquire about the work situation, but instead spoke decisively to Du Dalun.

"Brother Da Lun, I'll take this patient. As for the work, forget about it."

Using her own job to pay for her son's treatment, Su Nuannuan was too ashamed to accept the job.

Chu Mingzhou nodded as well.

His maternal grandfather was a veteran, and although he himself hadn't served in the military, Chu Mingzhou held all soldiers in high esteem, especially veterans. He would never take advantage of them.

Seeing the serious expressions on the couple's faces, Du Dalun smiled and said.

"Don't panic. Hu Tong's family isn't poor. His eldest daughter married the county magistrate of Yuanhua County; his eldest son is the director of the Heilongjiang Provincial Trade Bureau; and his second son works as a clerk in Beijing, with a promising future, I've heard. It was his youngest son who was injured. The old man isn't short of money. He was originally planning to go to Heilongjiang next year to live with his eldest son in his old age. Even if you don't want this job, he'll transfer it to someone else. Don't worry, all of Old Master Hu's children are very filial."

Hearing about the old man's several tough children, Su Nuannuan and Chu Mingzhou felt a little embarrassed.

I originally thought he was a poor old man supporting his family on a meager income, but I never expected his family background to be so powerful.

Su Nuannuan's family is powerful, but compared to the Hu family, they are nothing.

Su Nuannuan smiled awkwardly and said.

"In that case, please tell us about the work, Brother Da Lun."

Du Dalun nodded without hesitation.

He recommended Hu Tong to Su Nuannuan and Chu Mingzhou for several reasons. First, he had some connection with Hu Tong's second son and wanted to help him. Second, he knew Su Nuannuan was an excellent doctor; it would be a great pity if Hu Tong's youngest son were to become lame. Third, Du Dalun also wanted to help Su Nuannuan find jobs for Su Jianjun and Chen Xiuting.

Du Dalun cleared his throat and began to speak.

"The old man's job is perfect for Brother Jianjun and his wife; it's a stable job. They don't have to work in the sun or wind; they just need to sit indoors, sort through the delivered goods, and sell some more on the side. The work isn't tiring, and Brother Jianjun and his wife can even take care of the children in their spare time. It's just... it's just a bit unpleasant."

Towards the end, Du Dalun paused, glancing at Su Nuannuan and Chu Mingzhou.

Su Nuannuan was speechless.

After talking for so long, I still haven't gotten to the point.

Su Nuannuan was a little anxious, so she asked.

"So, Brother Lun, what exactly is a job?"

Du Dalun described the working conditions as fantastic. No exposure to the elements, and plenty of interaction with people. This job seems even better than being a doctor.

However, Su Nuannuan didn't quite understand the word "dirty" in the last sentence.

Chu Mingzhou seemed to have guessed what the job was. He paused in his tea drinking, a smile curving his lips as he looked at Du Dalun.

"If I'm not mistaken, it's in charge of waste recycling, right?"

Du Dalun clapped his hands, gave Chu Mingzhou an approving look, and said.

“Mingzhou is amazing! He manages the waste recycling business, and he only gets twenty dollars a month, plus accommodation.”

Su Nuannuan twitched her lips.

This job is truly awful.

However, it is indeed suitable for Su Jianjun and Chen Xiuting.
