Chapter 64 Hu Baoshan

Jiang Lingyu had finished her call and walked over. When she saw Hu Baoshan, her face was expressionless, and her tone was cold. "Oh, it's Baoshan. Why aren't you staying in Gangcheng? What are you doing in Nancheng?"

Jiang Lingyu owns a horse farm in Gangcheng. Her mother's family is a wealthy family in Gangcheng, and the horse farm was a gift from her maternal grandfather when she was born.

For a time, Jiang Lingyu also enjoyed horse racing. She bought several thoroughbreds herself. On one occasion, when she and Hu Baoshan were in Derbyshire, they both took a liking to the same thoroughbred. Neither of them were the type to yield to others, and they almost fought tooth and nail over it.

In the end, Jiang Lingyu's financial power was slightly superior, and he bought the British Thoroughbred. In the subsequent flat racing events, it made a name for itself and earned a lot of money.

That's how the feud between Jiang Lingyu and Hu Baoshan began.

However, since one of them lived in the southern part of the city and the other in the port city, they didn't bump into each other that often.

A hint of interest flashed in Hu Baoshan's eyes. "I naturally came to Hong Kong on business, but..." She paused here, "It's understandable that you don't know, after all, I heard you've been kicked out of your home?"

Hu Baoshan raised the hand holding the sparkling diamond-studded small round bag, covered her lips, and smiled as if embarrassed.

Jiang Lingyu's expression remained unchanged. "Baoshan, you believe those unfounded rumors quite a bit? No wonder, after all, there are rumors that you are an illegitimate daughter raised under Mrs. Hu's name, so I guess those rumors are probably true?"

Hu Baoshan's background is hardly a secret in the entertainment circle. The Hu family is a large and influential family in Hong Kong.

It was no secret that Hu Baoshan's father was a womanizer.

In the port city, they all openly had three concubines.

Mrs. Hu came from a respectable family and was quite capable. She didn't interfere much with her husband's extravagant lifestyle, but she was determined to keep the Hu family's wealth firmly in her hands.

She has a son who is also formidable, so much so that his siblings outside can't even stand up straight.

Hu Baoshan, however, was an exception.

Hu Baoshan has deep-set features, which immediately reveal that she has some foreign ancestry.

Jiang Lingyu and You Sijia didn't know much about what happened in the previous generation, so they weren't very clear about it. Anyway, it seemed that the Hu family had a murder case with someone, and Hu Baoshan's mother was involved. Mrs. Hu raised her as a child, which was also a way of cleaning up the mess for the Hu family.

However, even though Mrs. Hu had always kept Hu Baoshan under her care, Hu Baoshan's obvious foreign features could not be hidden no matter what.

Hu Baoshan's expression changed; what she couldn't stand the most was people bringing up her background.

She was raised by a respectable wife since childhood, so how come she isn't the legitimate daughter of the Hu family?

“Jiang Lingyu, you’re quick-witted now, but when you see me, you’ll still have to bow your head obediently.” Hu Baoshan seemed to have thought of something and regained her confidence. “Didn’t you want to know why I came to Nancheng? Someone like you who has been abandoned by your family probably doesn’t know that I’m here to see your older brother.”

Upon hearing this, Jiang Lingyu raised an eyebrow but remained silent.

Hu Baoshan was somewhat smug. "Aren't you curious why I met your older brother?" "Anyone with a brain doesn't need to be curious," Jiang Lingyu retorted. "On a blind date with that old bachelor, my older brother?"

Hu Baoshan: "...You, you're supposed to come from the Jiang family, how can you speak so harshly?"

"Am I not just telling the truth?" Jiang Lingyu said innocently. "My older brother is more than ten years older than you, right? Tsk, how could you bring yourself to do that?"

Jiang Lingyu shook her head repeatedly as she said this. She thought that a bite of old cured meat would be incredibly hard to chew, but in the end, there really was someone willing to take a bite.

Hu Baoshan turned pale with anger, but Jiang Lingyu was too lazy to pay her any attention. As for Zhou Qichun next to Hu Baoshan, Jiang Lingyu didn't even glance at her. She pulled You Sijia along and headed towards her private room.

Yu Sijia was still reeling from the conversation between Jiang Lingyu and Hu Baoshan when she entered the private room and closed the door. She exclaimed in surprise, "Your older brother really wants to marry Hu Baoshan?" She blinked. "Hu Baoshan actually agreed?"

Jiang Lingyu chuckled twice. "Who knows? I haven't been home for a while, how would I know their plans?"

“But this is too unbelievable!” Yusjia had already lain down when the stylist who was giving them a head massage came in. “Isn’t your older brother almost forty?”

More importantly, You Sijia knew that Jiang Lingyu's older brother had a child, an illegitimate child.

If it weren't for this, based solely on Jiang Lingyu's status, there would probably be quite a few daughters of prominent families in Nancheng willing to marry into his family.

But with such an illegitimate child, who would want to become a stepmother at such a young age?

Because of this delay, Brother Jiang Lingyu has already reached this age, and still doesn't have a proper wife by his side.

Jiang Lingyu: "Hmm? What else? I think the two of them are a perfect match."

Yu Sijia thought about it again and realized that Jiang Lingyu's words did make some sense.

"Before I came out, since my mother and the others had already brought up the matter of dividing the family property, my eldest and second eldest brothers must have made some moves. None of the three of us siblings are married yet. If my eldest brother were to get married now, even if it were to Hu Baoshan, it would still be a marriage alliance with the Hu family of Hong Kong, and the benefits would only be greater. As for Hu Baoshan's identity, what does it matter? What matters in a marriage alliance is always the family behind it, isn't it?"

Jiang Lingyu spoke lazily, then, as if enjoying the spectacle, continued with a slightly amused tone, "You see, my second brother certainly won't sit idly by. I'm just a little curious now, how did Zhou Qichun end up with Hu Baoshan? Aren't those two completely unrelated?"

This time, Yuski chose white peach and jasmine as her top notes. The sweet scents quickly enveloped her, and the pure fruit and tea aromas made her feel relaxed.

"Why should we care about them? Aren't you just sitting on the sidelines watching the tigers fight? Since your eldest brother wants to form a marriage alliance with the Hu family, your second brother shouldn't be sitting still, right?" You Sijia asked.

Jiang Lingyu picked out a woody fragrance and said, "Then I think my second brother is going to lose this time."

The Hu family is the largest jeweler in Hong Kong, and even within the industry, they are among the top players. It would be virtually impossible for Wei Mingshu to find a father-in-law's family that surpasses the Hu family.

"And what about you?" You Sijia couldn't help but ask. She hadn't forgotten that Jiang Lingyu was still in the research institute. If she wanted to compete for the Jiang family's inheritance, her two older brothers would have to find help through marriage. If Jiang Lingyu was still alone, wouldn't she be at a disadvantage?
