Chapter 7 Auction

On Wednesday evening, Yuska drove to the port city in a Rolls-Royce with dual license plates.

Sitting comfortably in the back seat, Yuska flipped through the auction catalog in her hand. Tonight, a ten-carat diamond necklace was being auctioned at Christie's. The color was rare—a purplish-pink diamond.

Shouldn't we wear these brightly colored gemstones in summer?

"Second brother, is there anything you like? I'll buy it for you tonight," Yusjia said to the person next to her without taking her eyes off the auction catalog.

Compared to Yu Sijia's vacation-style dress, which was actually a Vrkil haute couture gown, Yu Kuiqing's business attire looked much more ordinary.

"No need," You Kuiqing replied without looking up. The money shredder at home belonged to You Sijia, and she simply loved making money.

Yu Kuiqing was holding a tablet and still having a video conference with the person on the other end.

Yu Kui-ching wasn't specifically going to Hong Kong tonight to accompany Yu Si-jia; rather, she had a client she needed to meet tomorrow.

Yu Sijia pouted. Although she was rejected, she still took the initiative to think about what to buy for Yu Kuiqing.

After the two sisters arrived at the auction house, You Kuiqing finally finished her work. She pinched the bridge of her nose. "What are your plans for tomorrow? I heard from Dad that he wants you to meet Meng Weiyuan this weekend?"

After returning from a dinner with the Gu family over the weekend, Yusaide announced something at the dinner table the following evening.

The two families will officially meet next week.

This means that, barring any unforeseen circumstances, the You family and the Meng family will officially form a marriage alliance.

Yuska hummed in agreement, "Fine, let's meet then."

You Kuiqing looked at her inquisitively, "Something's not right with you."

She knew You Sijia well. She seemed fierce and delicate, but she had never been in love before. The person she loved had always been Gu Yu, and she had always been single-mindedly focused on marrying him.

Now, she has not only swiftly overturned her previous plan to marry into the Gu family, but she is also indifferent to marrying into the capital.

"Did Gu Yu bully you?" You Kuiqing asked before You Sijia could answer.

Yustia: "..."

She paused for a moment, then grinned and pushed away the face blocking her view. "No, it's just that I suddenly felt it was pointless to chase after a man. Why shouldn't he be the one chasing after me?"

Seeing that her expression was natural and she didn't seem to be lying, You Kuiqing felt relieved and casually said, "Didn't someone pursue you? You just didn't like them. But it's fine this way. Men are all the same. It's okay if you stay at home. I'll support you."

Yu Sijia reached out and cupped Yu Kuiqing's face in her hands, which caused the latter to struggle, but she still did not let go.

"Second brother, you're so kind!"

Yu Kuiqing, whose face was being squeezed by Yu Sijia, rolled her eyes and gave up struggling.

Oh well, she's gotten used to it over the years; her sister is just a childish brat.

The auction began quickly, and Yuska had even seen several familiar faces just now.

The purple-pink diamond necklace that Yuska had her eye on wasn't the highlight of the day, but the competition was fierce, especially since one person who had bid by phone was bidding against hers almost every round.

Yu Sijia's bottom line was HK$250 million. She had just raised her paddle and bit her lip when she heard the person who had been bidding against her bid without hesitation bid again, even adding HK$0.5 billion.

Yu Sijia pinched her palm, "Who is this person?!" She whispered to Yu Kuiqing in exasperation, "So annoying!"

You Kuiqing had come with the young lady to look at the jewelry she liked. When she heard the man to her right raise the bid, she wasn't as angry as You Sijia. She stroked the little peacock beside her, whose feathers were almost standing on end. "If you want to buy it, we can bid too. I'll give it to you." You Sijia had been beautiful since childhood. In other families, older sisters would always give way to younger sisters, but in the You family, the roles were reversed. You Kuiqing, with her extraordinary intelligence, quickly skipped grades and became You Sijia's protector.

She is extremely protective of her spoiled older sister.

Now that Yuska has her eye on a necklace, she naturally buys it.

After saying this, before You Sijia could react, You Kuiqing immediately raised the sign for her.

A 10-gram purple-pink diamond necklace was immediately valued at HK$260 million.

The client who had been relentlessly pursuing Yuska in the side seats raised his hand once again.

"Did he even discuss the price with the client?!" Yusjia was furious as she heard the price increase so drastically once again.

Seeing that You Kuiqing was about to calmly raise the sign again, You Sijia objected.

"I don't want it anymore!" the young lady said sullenly, pressing down on You Kuiqing's hand. "I'm going to New York Fashion Week next month, and Sotheby's is also having an auction. I'll go take a look. If that doesn't work, I'll just buy some haute couture jewelry."

Yu Kuiqing didn't understand. "Didn't you come here today for this necklace? If you like it, just buy it."

Yuska snorted, "It's only a ten-carat diamond. It's not like we have to fight with someone for it. It's not worth it."

You Kuiqing was speechless. She couldn't understand why the young lady was inexplicably "frugal" at this time.

Finally, the string of purple-pink diamonds was acquired by the mysterious telephone commissioner for HK$300 million.

Yuska had thought that was the end of it; today's auction wasn't purely a jewelry sale, but rather "jewelry and jadeite." According to the auction catalog she had reviewed earlier, Christie's was auctioning more jadeite today.

She also had her eye on a pink diamond bracelet.

Even if she didn't manage to get the purple-pink diamond necklace she liked, giving You Kuiqing a pink diamond bracelet would be a good alternative. You Sijia believes that pink diamonds, like rose quartz, can attract romance.

She didn't want You Kuiqing to become a workaholic who wouldn't even have time for romance.

Who knew that this time, Yu Sijia didn't want to be "frugal" anymore and went head-to-head with that unknown person who made the phone commission. When she raised the price to HK$320 million, Yu Kuiqing learned that she had bid for the bracelet for her sake and immediately stopped her from raising her paddle.

"What are you doing!" Yu Sijia was clearly annoyed that her actions had been interrupted. She glared at Yu Kuiqing with her round, cat-like eyes. "It's not like I don't have money!"

Yu Kuiqing: "...Why didn't you say that earlier?"

"How can that be the same? This is a gift I picked out for you!" Yusjia frowned, as if scolding her for being ungrateful.

She hasn't even spent money on herself!
Yu Kui-ching: "I don't need it."

She was never as fond of beauty as You Sijia, nor did she like to dress up. However, since childhood, You Kuiqing had always liked to give You Sijia her New Year's money so that she could buy new dresses.

She just loves seeing her eldest daughter looking so beautiful every day.

Just as the two sisters were arguing about whether to raise their paddles, the auctioneer's gavel fell, and with it came the auctioneer's voice—

"Congratulations!..."

Yuska: "!!!"
