Chapter 117 Drunk Speech

Chapter 117 Drunk Speech
How exactly are they denying responsibility?
This time, Yan Changye did not answer immediately.

He squinted, smiled lazily, and his thoughts drifted back to the family reunion banquet many years ago.
-
Several years ago, on Yan Changye's private island.

One rose after another was cut down by the gardener, leaving the island in a mess. Yan Changye sat calmly on the terrace of his villa on the island, toying with a letter outlining the procedures for the family reunion banquet.

Shen Zongqian hesitated and slowly walked towards him: "Old Master Xie from Hong Kong just called again, saying that if you don't agree, he will personally come to the capital to invite you. If your identity as the grandson of the Xie family is exposed, it may indirectly affect the high-level turmoil of Yanjing Group."

Yan Changye scoffed, "I don't care about the Xie family's status."

Shen Zongqian said softly, "The BOSS's methods in the business world are unfathomable. In the past two years, he has shown his brilliance and talent in international financial battles on many occasions. With the personality of the old man of the Xie family conglomerate, he probably won't be willing to let go of such an outstanding successor."

Yan Changye casually tossed the letter he received from the Guizu Banquet into the trash can, his tone indifferent and arrogant, "So what? No one can force me to do what I don't want to do."

Shen Zongqian dared not try to persuade him any further.

The next day, Shen Zongqian accompanied Yan Changye to a banquet. The noble man sat in the VIP area specially prepared for him on the second floor of the banquet hall, isolated from everyone else, his peach blossom eyes looking down at the clinking of glasses below.

At the banquet, someone toasted Jiang Tiancheng.
"I heard your daughter is getting married in Hong Kong in two days to Xie Yuheng, a member of the Xie family tycoon? Congratulations!"

Jiang Tiancheng responded politely: "As parents, we would prefer our child to marry someone closer to home. But our daughter insists on marrying far away, and Xie Yuheng is an excellent match, so we can only offer our blessings. Once things are settled, we will hold a banquet in the capital, and we would appreciate your attendance."

"President Jiang is too kind! The Xie family is extremely prestigious, and Xie Yuheng is the future head of the Xie family. Of course we should come to share in the joy of his wedding with your daughter, hahaha!"

During the long night banquet, a little wine spilled from the cup, wetting the hem of the robe.

As night deepened, the banquet ended and everyone departed.

On the second floor of the banquet hall, Yan Changye did not move an inch until dawn.

The blinding sunlight streamed in, and he slowly rose to his feet, instructing, "Report back to the port city that I am willing to return to the Xie clan under the name Xie Yunxi."

Shen Zongqian was somewhat surprised, but dared not ask anything, and simply replied respectfully, "Yes."

Two days later, in the port city.

At the Xie family's homecoming banquet, Yan Changye sat undisturbed in a corner, ignoring the bustling crowd and the abundance of flowers, his gaze fixed on Jiang Manman, who looked bewildered and lost upon arriving in Hong Kong.

The girl stood in a dimly lit corner, feeling out of place in the unfamiliar environment. Meanwhile, Xie Yuheng, whom she eagerly anticipated marrying, was surrounded by beautiful women, embracing one of them and drinking wine fed to him. He was dashing and frivolous, even more alluring than his usual aloof and ascetic demeanor.

Jiang Manman's face turned pale.

She looked at Xie Yuheng, who seemed like a completely different person, with uncontrollable sadness in her eyes. She gave a self-deprecating bitter smile and drank one cup after another numbly.

That was the first time she had ever drunk alcohol. The pungent taste brought tears to her eyes, but the heartache in her heart was gradually numbed. She drank an unknown amount until her fingers were numb, then she staggered to her feet and went back to her room.

It was a room that Xie Yuheng had specially prepared for her, meticulously arranged according to her preferences, but that meticulousness now turned into a mockery of her.

She slid down the wall and sat on the floor, feeling dizzy, but her mind was unusually clear. Trembling, she picked up her phone and sent a message to Xie Yuheng with utmost seriousness:
"Let's break up."

After I finished sending it, I realized there was someone standing in front of me.

The man was backlit, his perfect figure leaning lazily against the wall, exuding an indescribable air of elegance and languor. Yet, this was completely different from Xie Yuheng's deliberately frivolous demeanor; it was as if etched into his very bones, natural and utterly unpleasant.

Jiang Manman reflexively asked, "Yan Changye?"

A soft scoff: "You still recognize me, so you're not drunk."

He slowly leaned down, his exquisite face even more alluring under the light, his peach blossom eyes shimmering, his thin lips like blooming roses, his beauty captivating to the bone. Jiang Manman's breath caught in her throat for a moment: "What are you doing here?"

He chuckled casually, but his voice was sexy and alluring: "The Xie family, the number one conglomerate in Hong Kong, is full of wolves and tigers. If I hadn't come, you, a little white rabbit who has left your home, would have been played to death and no one would have collected your body."

He was ultimately soft-hearted and couldn't bear to see her go into danger alone. He wanted to protect her for a few more years in Xie Yunxi's name until she could establish herself in Hong Kong.

But now it seems she doesn't need it anymore.

"Now that you've seen things clearly, do you still think Xie Yuheng is a good man?" He sighed softly. "If you want to go back to the capital, just tell me, and I'll make the arrangements."

After saying that, he turned around and left.

But Jiang Manman grabbed his hand.

Her hands were so soft, as soft as a feather, that they stirred a restless desire within him.

"Yan Changye," she said softly, "stay with me."

Yan Changye hesitated for a moment, then sat down next to her.

The next moment, she wrapped her arms around his neck and said in a soft voice, "So what if you have a beauty in your arms? He has one, and I have one too. The one in my arms is even more beautiful."

Yan Changye's eyes turned slightly cold: "Jiang Manman, I disdain being a substitute. Let go."

“I didn’t treat you as a substitute…” Jiang Manman leaned closer to him, her soft, sweet voice sending chills down his spine. “I don’t want Xie Yuheng anymore. Yan Changye, I just want you to play with me.”

Yan Changye's gaze deepened: "How do you want to play?"

Jiang Manman said softly, "Let me touch you, kiss you, and sleep with you."

Normally, Yan Changye would know something was wrong with the girl when he heard this.

Her eyes looked clear, but her mind was already confused. Normally, she would never dare to say such shameful things so recklessly.

But with the soft, fragrant body in his arms, Yan Changye's mind lost its usual sharpness and composure. Looking at Jiang Manman, whose eyes were filled with a hazy, alluring light, he felt a restless desire, yet also a strange unease.
"Sleep? What sleep? After a night of lovemaking, I still have to call you 'Auntie' in the morning. I can't handle that kind of thing..."

What aunt-in-law?

A flicker of doubt crossed Jiang Manman's eyes, but she quickly dismissed it: "If you play with me, I'll draw lots of pictures for you tomorrow, make you beautiful clothes, and buy you a whole bunch of your favorite snacks..."

This is not something a woman of sound mind would say.

Yan Changye automatically interpreted it as: "You're trying to fool me with this childish nonsense? Even if it's just to sleep with me, can't you come up with a more plausible reason?"

"If you have fun, I'll give you anything you want. If you want the moon, I'll go catch it. If you want stars, I'll pluck them for you..."

She continued talking incessantly, her brain seemingly on autopilot, completely out of control.

Yan Changye coughed lightly, his mind wandering because of her persistence, but he forced himself to remain calm: "It's no use trying to fool me with these fancy words. Jiang Manman, I'm not a casual person, and I disdain one-night stands. Take your hand away."

"I don't do one-night stands." Jiang Manman tilted her head to look at him, enunciating each word clearly, "Marriage, how about it?"
