See the Law of Deception
Chapter 141 The Substitute
Chapter 141 The Substitute (15)
Lu Jinzhao is still pondering the content of the photo.
She wasn't just being stubborn; she genuinely didn't believe the ghost had precognitive abilities.
Provocation? Intimidation? An attempt to increase their psychological burden and cause them to panic through such means?
In any case, for her to die in the way depicted in the photo, someone or a ghost must get close. If this is indeed a "premonition," then she needs to be on guard.
They weren't very familiar with the layout of the platform. Fortunately, the company wasn't far from the station, so there weren't many places they could choose to work out. They were told to look for a relatively open space, but when they actually looked, the area was full of tall buildings, and there were no places like squares or parks.
"It seems we can only choose a less crowded place," Zhou Ziming said helplessly.
Considering the pedestrians coming and going on the roadside, and feeling that the way they were being looked at by the passersby had become strange after their phones kept ringing, the group chose a hotel near the train station and booked a room. However, they did not go into the room, but instead found a slightly secluded corner in the lobby on the first floor to sit.
The lobby was nearly empty, and it was also isolated from the view of passersby outside. Without those strange looks, Zhou Ziming felt much more relaxed.
As dusk approached, orange sunset clouds scattered across the city streets. Night always falls earlier inside the station; in about half an hour, the sun will set, and the world will be plunged into darkness.
Since entering the hotel lobby, Zhou Ziming's eyes had been uncontrollably darting around, as if a ghost might appear at any moment in some corner he hadn't noticed. This behavior continued for a long time, but he didn't feel tired at all. In fact, as time went by, he became more and more vigilant.
The divine power he gained not only gave him the ability to summon spirits, but also increased physical fitness and improved mental and concentration skills. What others found tiring to be vigilant actions, Zhou Ziming could maintain for a long time.
As it approached 7 o'clock, a hotel staff member suddenly pushed a food cart over.
He wasn't wandering aimlessly; he went straight to the three of them, lifted the insulated glass cover, and said, "These are the meals you ordered."
"Wait a minute." Zhou Ziming immediately stood up.
When did we order our food?
The waiter, who had been moving nimbly, paused for a moment, his expression turning somewhat surprised, as if he hadn't expected to be asked that question.
"Just half an hour ago," he said, not quite understanding why the customer would ask such a question, but his professionalism led him to answer in a polite tone.
To his surprise, the customer asked another perplexing question: "Who ordered it?"
The waiter's eyes held a complex expression: "You."
"You ordered the food at the restaurant yourself, so we'll deliver it here."
"Are you sure?" Zhou Ziming's tone was unpleasant, making the waiter somewhat nervous.
"I'm sure, guests with your physique are quite rare."
"Take the food away, we don't want it." He waved his hand, his eyes fixed on the waiter, as if he would do something if the waiter did anything he was unhappy with.
"Ok, I see."
The waiter didn't know what had happened, but he felt that today's guests were really strange. Under pressure, he didn't dare to say anything and could only push the food cart away quickly.
"They've already come in?"
The waiter left, and Zhou Ziming became somewhat restless. He circled Qin Wan and Lu Jinzhao a few times, then warily looked at every possible lead to this corner. "This is inevitable."
Lu Jinzhao was not surprised by this.
Qin Wan nodded: "We can't expect to get through the last few hours safely, can we?"
"What is this ghost trying to do? It keeps using these little tricks!" Zhou Ziming's patience was obviously less than that of Lu Jinzhao and Qin Wan. The ghost's repeated "small actions" made it difficult for him to calm down.
"Maybe it's just to make you feel anxious? Calm down," Qin Wan comforted her.
She noticed that Zhou Ziming's originally relatively calm emotions had been gradually stirred up by the ghost, and now he was showing obvious anxiety, so she had to speak up to remind him.
However, Zhou Ziming, who had initially tried to control himself after listening to her words, continued to encounter similar situations.
One minute a deliveryman brings in a takeout order, the next a waiter brings in a drink, and then the front desk asks him if he really wants to check out.
Problems kept piling up, as if there was someone exactly like him, but extremely malicious, constantly creating these harmless little troubles for him through petty tricks.
It doesn't hurt people, but it's annoying.
"What exactly is this ghost planning to do?" Even though he knew the ghost was doing it on purpose, he could no longer calm himself down.
The next second, my phone rang with a familiar text message tone.
Zhou Ziming stopped ignoring the voice and clicked on it with a bit of anger. He thought he would see some more gruesome and threatening photos, but this time, the text message contained only two words.
【careful】
The sender is from Lu Jinzhao?!
Zhou Ziming looked up abruptly, about to ask something, when he heard a loud bang!
Suddenly, the magnificent chandelier and other overhead lights in the lobby shattered, and a large number of glass shards fell down, plunging the entire first floor into darkness. Amid the noisy sound of breaking glass, Zhou Ziming felt a cold hand suddenly press down on his shoulder and then violently pull him behind him!
Without hesitation, Zhou Ziming immediately raised his right hand and made a "summoning the gods" gesture. Then, he felt a chill all over his body, his mind went blank for a moment, and then "power" filled his whole body. The hand that was on his shoulder seemed to be pricked by a needle and quickly let go.
The sun had completely set, and for some reason, there was no light outside. After Zhou Ziming felt the ghost that was grabbing him retreat, he was a little puzzled as to why it was so easily defeated, but he didn't have time to think too much and immediately took out his phone to provide light.
Then, in the next second, he saw a scene that horrified him.
Standing before him were two Lu Jinzhaos and two Qin Wans.
"Are you alright?" Immediately afterward, someone next to him spoke. Hearing that familiar voice, Zhou Ziming's mind went blank for half a second before he slowly turned his head to look. Then, he saw himself looking anxious.
"Zhou Ziming?" He heard Qin Wan's hesitant voice. She also turned on her phone's light, but her attention was immediately drawn to the first "Zhou Ziming." So even though she saw two at the same time, she subconsciously called out the one who spoke first.
In that instant, Zhou Ziming felt a chill run through his body, as if something had been pulled away from him by the sound. The "summoning of the gods" that could have lasted for at least 30 seconds was forced to be dispelled in that instant!
