See the Law of Deception

Chapter 172 The House of Evil Spirits

Chapter 172 The House of Evil Spirits (16)

Lu Jinzhao knew her teammates would catch up soon, but this time they arrived a little slower than she expected.

Furthermore, when Lu Jinzhao stood at the entrance of the second-floor restroom for a while and saw only the figures of her two teammates, she realized that the ghost had "studied" again.

Just like how they might act as shadow puppets once and then fight back the second time, now, seeing her escape from the toilet, they realize she can continue doing this.

Therefore, only two ghosts came this time.

The last one is probably staying on the third floor.

This is definitely considered clever among "ghosts".

Unfortunately, a ghost is always a ghost.

There are plenty of windows in the building. She doesn't necessarily have to go out through the bathroom window or go in through the bathroom window. She could even climb directly from here to the outside of window 302!

There's absolutely no point in staking out a spot.

She chose the toilet not because it was the only place with a window, but simply because she chose a more suitable place to pull her along, based on the rule of "no running in the corridor".

If you want to catch her faster, just keep forcing her to stay outside the window longer until she can no longer leave the apartment.

"It's smarter than the ghosts of the past, but it still has a brainless vibe."

The best way is actually to have one ghost drive her away, and the other two, one guarding the door of 302 and the other guarding the window of 302.

If you block her way to change rooms, she'll be caught up sooner or later, and she'll have no choice but to fight to the death.

Time is very important.

Now, as her two teammates had to walk to her, Lu Jinzhao had already climbed out the window and onto the first floor.

Climbing back into the room from the wall once more, Lu Jinzhao's forehead was covered in a thick layer of cold sweat, and her already pale face became even paler. If you looked closely, you could see that the blood vessels in her temples were throbbing slowly as if they were under tremendous pressure.

Lu Jinzhao clenched her fists, confirming that her body had suffered a temporary and irreversible blow from yet another "outing." Her strength seemed to have weakened, her fists were softer than before, and her brain felt like that of an ordinary person who hadn't slept all day, a little drowsy.

And this fatigue and pressure cannot be transferred to the shadow puppet; she has to bear it all herself. Fortunately, she can still continue.

Inside the empty public restroom, Lu Jinzhao stood in front of the broken window, taking a deep breath of the wind blowing in from outside the apartment.

Even the wind in the air on the platform seemed to carry a peculiar smell.

If you smell it closely, it smells like the ashes left after incense, candles and paper money have been burned to ashes. When I was a child, every Ghost Festival, the town would be filled with this smell.

It wasn't exactly unpleasant to smell; at least, it smelled much better than the apartment.

The footsteps of two teammates were gradually approaching in the hallway. Lu Jinzhao walked to the bathroom door and looked at the two ghosts with a calm expression. Inside the apartment, they had returned to their human appearance, and there was no trace of the way they had hung in the window just now, like a deflated balloon floating in the wind.

They clearly knew that Lu Jinzhao had witnessed that scene, but now they've reverted to their normal selves, calling Lu Jinzhao's name with a look of "surprise."

"Fawn."

"Stop running, little deer, you can't escape."

She watched with surprise as Lu Jinzhao approached her, uttering these words. If this were Lu Jinzhao, who had just entered the platform, she would probably be too flustered to speak. But now, she calmly looked at the ghost, who was still some distance away, and asked:
"What are you?"

"Are you just a shell?"

The ghost didn't answer her, not because it didn't want to, but more because it couldn't understand what she was saying at all.

He could communicate normally with her before she was exposed, but once he reverted to his ghost form, it was as if he had lost even that skill.

Is it impossible for both to coexist?

The power of ghosts, and the wisdom of humans.

Two teammates approached step by step, accompanied by the same greed and malice in their eyes as any other evil spirits. Lu Jinzhao was certain that they had completely lost their minds.

She sighed, somewhat regretful that she couldn't learn more from the ghost, and then turned and ran towards the window without hesitation.

As for what to do next, Lu Jinzhao didn't have a precise plan. When facing a ghost, she couldn't completely predict its next move. For now, she could only go down to the first floor and take a look.

As she rolled out the window again, an invisible weight immediately fell on her shoulders.

It was as if two unseen ghosts had stepped on her shoulders.

Lu Jinzhao heard her bones creaking, and her neck felt like it was being pressed down on a roller coaster. Even her fingers, which were gripping the crack in the wall, felt like they were being run over by a wheel.

She desperately wanted to let go, even though her fingers looked perfectly normal except for the knuckles and veins that bulged from the force. But Lu Jinzhao clearly felt something grinding against them, trying to crush her bones as well.

"Little deer."

She heard the call coming from the window again.

"Little deer, don't run away!"

Along with the calling voice, came the head of a teammate, and an arm that had been sticking out of the window and then slammed against the wall.

But this time, the outstretched arm was no longer just limply clinging to the wall, but began to wriggle towards Lu Jinzhao.

Like a stretched human skin rubber band, covered with the texture of human skin, yet appearing particularly strange due to excessive stretching, this human skin keeps trying to get closer to Lu Jinzhao.

Lu Jinzhao could even see its empty fingers, which were just a layer of skin.

There were still fingernails on it, but because there was no flesh to support them, the skin of the fingers was wrinkled and wrapped around the nails, floating empty above her head, stretching out in her direction.

It absolutely must not be touched by it.

A chill ran down her spine. Ignoring the pain that felt like her fingers were being crushed, and the heavy air on her shoulders, Lu Jinzhao decisively let go before the human skin touched her and plummeted toward the first-floor window!
In less than a second, Lu Jinzhao's body had already descended to the window position, and she used the same trick again, grabbing the protruding window frame on the wall with her fingers.

This time, however, Lu Jinzhao clearly heard several sounds like fractures or cracking, followed by intense pain in his fingers and uncontrollable trembling of several fingers.

There is no doubt that part of her finger bone was fractured.

This shouldn't have happened, but the pressure on her shoulders kept increasing. Only when Lu Jinzhao quickly turned around and returned to the apartment did the pressure, which felt like a thousand-pound burden, suddenly disappear.
