See the Law of Deception

Chapter 35 Out of Control

Chapter 35 Out of Control (16)

Lu Jinzhao felt a little cold.

It wasn't because of the weather, or because she wasn't wearing enough clothes, but because a chill emanating from within her body clung to her like a leech.

Every moment, Lu Jinzhao could feel that deep within her mind, in places she couldn't perceive, there were shadows that didn't belong to her lurking.

But this also brings some additional benefits. For example, at this moment, her brain seems to have an extra "receiver," which allows her to have an extra pair of invisible "eyes" to perceive whether everything around her is an illusion.

Now, when she looks down at the time on her watch, she is no longer deceived by illusions.

"The car will be here in five minutes."

Lu Jinzhao affirmed.

Wei Ling looked somewhat confused: "Really?"

She asked instinctively.

Having spent only a day on this platform, she no longer knew how to distinguish between truth and falsehood. No matter what she heard or saw, her first instinct was always to question it.

“Really.” Lu Jinzhao continued to affirm, helping her gain some confidence.

"Since you can't tell the difference between what's true and what's false, then believe what I say."

But Wei Ling's tone still sounded somewhat helpless: "Then how am I supposed to tell if you're real or fake?"

"."

Lu was speechless for a moment.

"Since you can't tell the difference, then don't try to." All she could say was, "Just bet that the current me is real."

Upon hearing this, Wei Ling opened her mouth as if to say something, but then said nothing.

".I see."

Indeed, as Lu Jinzhao said, she had no choice but to take a gamble in the face of her current predicament.

So let's gamble that the deer in front of us is indeed real and that there is indeed a way to get her away from here.

Entrusting one's life to others was a choice Lu Jinzhao absolutely did not want to make, but Wei Ling gritted her teeth and made it.

When she decided to entrust her life to Lu Jinzhao, Wei Ling's anxious heart actually relaxed a little.

"Anyway, I can't decide whether it's life or death, so let it be."

As she thought this, even her breathing seemed to become easier.

Five minutes isn't a long time; soon, she heard the familiar sound of the train arriving again.

This time, however, she didn't rush to stand up and walk towards the car door. Instead, she subconsciously looked up at Lu Jinzhao with a questioning gaze.

Upon seeing Lu Jinzhao nod, Wei Ling immediately stood up impatiently.

However, as she prepared to take the first step, hesitation and struggle appeared on her face.

Even though the decision had been made, it still required a great deal of courage to actually do it.

Her courage had been almost completely depleted within this platform.

The car stopped.

The familiar warm light reappeared at the doorway, and Wei Ling saw Lu Jinzhao stride towards the car without hesitation.

"Wait!" she exclaimed quickly.

Lu Jinzhao turned to look at her, and Wei Ling's eyes were full of conflict. She hoped that Lu Jinzhao would say something more, give her some confidence, and persuade her to get in the car. In short, she would say anything; she needed some motivation.

Lu Jinzhao did not disappoint her. Seeing her hesitation, he did not ignore it, but affirmed her again: "Let's go, this time it's for real."

Even though Wei Ling didn't completely believe those words, and she still couldn't tell whether the train in front of her was real or fake, or whether Lu Jinzhao's words were true or false, after hearing them, Wei Ling took a deep breath, stood up, and walked towards the door.

Whether we live or die depends on these few short steps we take.

Wei Ling had never felt that moving forward would be so difficult. She regretted almost every step she took, and felt like she was about to die with every step she took. But even so, she walked the whole way with trepidation.

The moment she stepped into the car, the familiar interior came into view, and she was alive and well. Realizing this, Wei Ling's mind went blank for a moment. After being under extreme tension for so long, she suddenly relaxed and couldn't control her body, collapsing to her knees inside the car.

Lu Jinzhao looked at her and, unusually, made a joke: "You don't need to give me such a grand bow."

Wei Ling was still somewhat dazed when she heard Lu Jinzhao's words. She couldn't help but smile with relief as she replied in a slightly more composed tone, "Of course, of course."

Her tone was slightly obsequious, but her mind was completely blank at the moment, and she only felt that she was able to get out of here alive today entirely thanks to Lu Jinzhao.

But after she paid the money to have her wounds repaired and checked her balance after the train started moving, she couldn't help but let out a surprised question.

"what?"

"Why is the reward so high this time?"

Lu Jinzhao also saw the balance on his ticket. It was 500 after boarding and ticket inspection, but now it was 1300.

An increase of 800!

She asked directly, "Is this a lot?"

Wei Ling nodded: "There are a lot!"

"You didn't know?" she asked, somewhat puzzled.

Lu Jinzhao didn't intend to hide anything any longer and said directly, "I really didn't know. This is my second mission."

Wei Ling stared wide-eyed, frozen in place for a long while.

"Sister, you're not kidding, are you?"

She even unconsciously started using honorifics, and her tired spirit was stimulated and invigorated.

Lu Jinzhao blinked: "No, so, can you tell me now?"

Wei Ling was speechless for a moment: "This...this isn't right."

"How is this possible?"

"you."

"Wait a minute, am I still in an illusion?"

Otherwise, how could such an outrageous thing happen?

The newcomer was put on a Class C train for his second mission?
She had never heard of such a thing before!

Or perhaps she's just inexperienced?
Wei Ling's brain worked for a while, but she couldn't figure it out, so she simply gave up and explained directly:

"Generally speaking, the payment given at the platform is double that given when boarding the train. That is to say, if you get 100 when boarding a Class D train, you will get around 200 when you settle the payment. However, the amount will fluctuate depending on the difficulty of the mission. For Class D, the fluctuation is around 50. Even if the difficulty of the mission is slightly higher than usual, you can only earn less than 400 to save your life after a mission."

"You know, even repairing a minor wound can cost several tens of dollars, and it's easy for Class D passengers to go broke."

"Once you reach Level C, you'll get 200 just for getting on the bus, and the mission settlement reward will be around 400, with a fluctuation of about 100. In other words, not counting the money given for getting on the bus, the most I've ever seen for mission settlement is less than 500 for getting on the bus."

Even with her brain completely blank, Wei Ling's expression turned serious at this point: "But this time, I got close to 600!"

Six hundred?

Lu Jinzhao glanced at his ticket without showing any emotion; it clearly showed an amount of 1300.

She asked, "What does this mean?"

Wei Ling immediately replied, "That means this mission is abnormal!"

"The difficulty level is abnormal!"

She kept saying, "Even the high-difficulty dungeons of the same level that everyone talks about almost never give rewards that exceed the algorithm's range. How come this time it's so much?"

Lu Jinzhao lowered her eyes and confirmed in her heart once again that she had experienced two missions, both of which were unusually difficult.

So it really was Yangpi who was behind this?
Just to force myself to make a trade?

If it is really because of it, then how is it able to control the difficulty of train platform tasks?
What exactly is it?
There's more tonight, but I need to go to sleep now.
