Lu Jinzhao didn't ponder the sheepskin's purpose for long; she didn't want to waste time on it.

Although Xiao Ping was scared, he decided to go with her to the entrance of the service hall to see what was going on. He lacked experience, but he wasn't really that brainless.

Knowing that there was indeed danger in the service hall, Lu Jinzhao's already tense mood immediately became heavy.

“We’ll just stand at the door and take one look, then leave immediately,” Lu Jinzhao emphasized. “Whatever you see, remember, don’t panic.”

Xiao Ping, who was still struggling and hesitating in his heart, suddenly felt a bit more strength upon hearing Lu Jinzhao's words.

“Yes, I only take a look and leave immediately. Meng Ning has encountered the same situation before, and everything was fine once she left, right?”

Having convinced himself, Xiao Ping finally found the strength to continue moving forward.

The two slowly approached the entrance of the service hall. When they reached the entrance, the flashlight beams that had been so bright on the road were now extremely dim.

Looking in from the outside window, without a flashlight, all you could see was unsettling darkness. Lu Jinzhao had a feeling that even if he shone a flashlight inside, it probably wouldn't be able to illuminate the service hall at this moment.

Knowing full well that there is a ghost inside, standing at the door, opening the door, and looking inside requires extraordinary courage.

Fortunately, Lu Jinzhao had already completed several platform missions and even encountered more terrifying situations than this one, so even though she was somewhat resistant, she took a few deep breaths and prepared to push the door open.

The sound of the door being pushed open came from the darkness. Even so, Lu Jinzhao had no choice but to ignore the warnings from her body and shine the flashlight into the service hall, her eyes following the beam.

The hall was unusually dark, without a single ray of light. When Xiao Ping saw Lu Jinzhao's actions, he quickly peeked out and followed suit, looking into the hall.

He had already guessed from Meng Ning's account that Chen Hai's death was mostly due to his slow reaction time, and he didn't want to make the same mistake.

"Just one look," was what he originally thought.

Even though I had prepared myself to remain calm no matter what I saw.

However, when he was caught off guard and saw a dead face almost face to face, he still lost the ability to think for a moment.

The ghost was right at the door, waiting for them to open it and see.

A chilling aura swept over him, and Xiao Ping could no longer breathe, nor could he control his body to make any movement. Even his brain stopped functioning.

Fear gripped his entire body, and he could only stare blankly at the terrifying face so close to his face.

Then, in the next instant, the door was slammed shut with a bang.

Someone nearby quickly turned and left, even having the leisure to give him the word "run".

When that terrifying face disappeared from his sight and Lu Jinzhao's reminder reached his ears, Xiao Ping suddenly snapped back to reality. He even forgot to breathe, and his limp body almost caused him to fall when he turned around, but his strong will to survive kept him steady.

It wasn't until he felt pain in his lungs and was already some distance from the service hall that he seemed to suddenly regain the ability to breathe. He gasped for breath and then collapsed to his knees with a thud.

His body had gone completely limp from extreme shock.
