Chapter 12 Ghost Truck
Chapter 12 Ghost Truck (There was an error just now, it has been fixed, please refresh the page)
The night fog grew thicker, like layers of white ink staining the night sky.
They could still see roughly into the distance, though their vision was somewhat obstructed.
But in just a few minutes, the fog rose higher and higher, and even the headlights of the sports car seemed to be squeezed by the fog, only able to shine out a distance of four or five meters.
In this extremely dense fog, all sounds and things around us were obscured, as if we were trapped in a lonely and closed world.
Only the sound of the engine echoed in the narrow space, but even that sound was strange, like a mixture of mechanical energy, heartbeat, panting, groans and howls.
Han Su didn't know what was going on, but a feeling of excitement began to surge within him, becoming increasingly overwhelming and difficult to control.
"not good!"
He suddenly heard a slight change in the engine sound behind the thick fog, and immediately became alert. The instinct he had developed from countless escapes from the dark castle acted almost before his consciousness could process it.
At the warning, he opened the car door with one hand and grabbed Xu Ji with the other, rushing out of the car.
Boom boom!
Almost the instant Han Su pulled Xu Ji up and sped out of the sports car without warning, two rows of waves formed by the flow of fog suddenly appeared in front of the car amidst the thick fog.
Immediately, a huge truck came rushing towards them.
It was a giant truck with a front end that was four or five meters high, made of solid metal with cold, hard lines, but the body was covered in bloodstains, with some blood vessel-like tissues intertwined and covered with mechanical parts, which was very visually striking.
It charged forward at an astonishing speed of almost 260 kilometers per hour.
From a distance, the speed and momentum seem alright, but up close, face to face, it's like a mountain collapsing and the earth splitting apart, utterly devastating.
Xu Ji's flashy red sports car was crushed to pieces by the giant truck almost instantly.
The abandoned car body sputtered and flew away like a tattered sack, its parts clattering and falling to the ground, looking like a soccer ball that had been kicked away.
Even though Han Su reacted quickly and pulled Xu Ji out in time, the two of them were almost swept under the car by the raging wind from the close proximity.
"What the hell? What the hell? This thing actually exists?"
Xu Ji fell to the ground, his body dazed and disoriented from the impact. But he stared intently at the direction in which the strange truck had disappeared, as if he recognized something, his whole being seemingly lost in thought.
All that could be left in his mouth was shouting, "It's unreasonable! It's unreasonable! There's no way such a thing could exist in the world..."
"If it were true, my father would have told me long ago..."
"..."
"What is it?"
Han Su rolled around on the ground twice, then immediately pulled Xu Ji up from where he was lying.
While dragging it into the corner, he kept his eyes fixed on the thick fog where the truck's taillights disappeared, a sudden surge of surprise welling up in his eyes, and calmly asked Xu Ji a question.
"The murder truck on Highway 59..."
Xu Ji looked as if his worldview had been greatly shaken, and he seemed a bit drunk: "There was a braggart in the club who talked about this stuff. He was a drunkard who kept saying strange things that no one could understand. I don't know how he got into the club."
"They said a large truck carrying goods at night got into an accident on Highway 59, and both the driver and the truck were completely destroyed."
"But the truck driver was unwilling to die. He merged with the wreckage of the truck and became a monster in the wilderness, appearing every night to run over and kill any living thing he encountered..."
"But, but that guy said a legendary investigator intervened and sealed it away on the abandoned Highway 59..."
"We're on Highway 48 here!!"
"..."
"Eh?"
Han Su listened with a look of surprise: "So there really are such things in the world?"
Xu Ji almost cried: "Are you really that resilient? This thing shouldn't be real!"
Han Su ignored him, but suddenly became somewhat dissatisfied: "Didn't you know I've always been interested in this kind of thing? Why didn't you tell me?"
"?"
Xu Ji's expression was strange and aggrieved: "I asked you to go to the club every day, saying that the people there know everything, but you insisted on going to the library..."
Before he could finish speaking, Han Su suddenly turned to look at him and, without any politeness, kicked him.
The kick was delivered with full force, sending Xu Ji flying five or six meters away. But in that instant, blinding lights suddenly shone from within the thick fog in front of them.
The imposing, towering front of the car burst through the thick fog at an insane speed, hurtling straight toward their location. The bright, blood-red headlights nearly robbed everyone of their senses.
It madly crushed the spot where Xu Ji had just been, and with a huge roar, it rushed straight into the thick fog on the other side, where it was quickly swallowed up by the fog.
Everything became eerily quiet, with only the thick fog slowly creeping closer.
Deep within the dense fog, the faint roar of an engine could be heard, as if a mechanical beast was lurking behind the mist, slowly gathering its strength and staring intently at them.
Everything about it has become so irrational and bizarre that it shouldn't exist.
Xu Ji was completely at a loss. In this thick fog, he didn't know where to escape to.
In theory, he should leave the road in the face of such a truck, but the surrounding area was full of thick fog, and he could no longer see the sides of the road beneath his feet.
Trembling, I reached out and touched the ground, trying to crawl to the roadside, but all I could see was asphalt road, and I couldn't find the edge.
Han Su, too, was encountering this strange situation for the first time.
He had been kidnapped and sent back in time countless times, but this was the first time he had encountered such a bizarre situation in the real world. Staring at the thick fog and feeling the oppressive, maddening, and chilling atmosphere, his mind became unusually active:
"It's real, not a hallucination, nor the indistinguishable illusions I saw while being kidnapped. It's something everyone can see, something truly real..."
"Was it that spell that attracted this bizarre thing? Or has the world finally gone mad?"
"..."
He was extremely excited about either one.
Even his right eye, which had been dormant for ten years on this life line, began to ache faintly at this moment, and the pain was intensifying.
Boom!
Deep in the fog, the roar of heavy truck engines rose another notch.
Immediately afterwards, a frenzied fog surged, and blinding lights filled the field of vision. The truck that had just rushed into the fog on the right suddenly rushed out from the fog on Xu Ji's right.
If we haven't misjudged the direction, that should be a slope outside the road, an empty place.
But the truck still crashed straight into Xu Ji from that direction, before he could even turn around.
At the same moment, Han Su, who was prepared, suddenly stepped forward, grabbed Xu Ji by the collar, pulled him aside, and, ensuring his own safety, also suddenly reached out his hand.
Facing the massive, four- or five-meter-tall front of the vehicle and its blinding headlights, his figure seemed almost minuscule. Compared to that bizarre killing machine, the human body was as fragile as tofu, utterly vulnerable. Yet, he pressed his palm down, his expression crazed, and rapidly recited:
"A divine decree has been issued!"
The syllables rise and fall in rhythm, carrying an ancient and mysterious meaning.
In his mind, the dormant spiritual power, accompanied by the ancient fisherman's chant, instantly surged into waves.
It was as if he had become more skilled. For the first time, this spiritual power raged within his body before finally finding his right eye. But this time, it surged directly towards his right eye. The force of this impact was many times greater than before.
Almost instantly, blood began to seep from Han Su's grayish-white right eye.
It felt like being torn apart from the inside out by a tremendous force; the excruciating pain of flesh breaking apart bombarded Han Su's reason layer by layer, so close to his brain.
"crunch..."
The strange and crazy truck suddenly stopped.
The wheels were still spinning wildly, rubbing against the ground, and you could almost smell the burning tires.
The giant truck's headlights were incredibly bright, and the lights twisted slightly, like two huge, bright eyes looking in Han Su's direction.
All around, the thick fog seemed to rise from the ground, creating a vast expanse of white, within which many illusory shadows appeared.
From it, they could even see Zhang He covered in blood, and the innocent long-legged, fair-skinned woman in a short skirt, her face bearing an expression of resentment and pain, her mouth opening and closing, constantly saying something.
They were also devoured by the killer truck and turned into its accomplices.
The pale faces, like the face of the truck itself, revealed the expression of this ghostly truck.
Across from the ghost truck, Han Su stood motionless, blood streaming from his right eye. The excruciating pain pounded in his brain, yet he felt a strange sense of pleasure. His scars were grotesque, but his expression was like that of a demon, a smile on his face.
Just now, when my mental power reached my right eye, it was blocked. It seems that the limitations on my mental power when it enters reality are greater than I imagined.
Han Su didn't know where this restriction came from, but he could vaguely sense that it was a rule engraved in the deepest level of human instinct.
The mind is not allowed to enter reality!
