Chapter 62 Eyes that can perceive the subtle, a spirit as powerful as a dragon.

Upon hearing Jiang Yi's words, "Follow the child's wishes," the tension in Instructor Lin's eyes finally eased a little.

He came to deliver good news, but he also carried a request from Magistrate Tian.

It all boils down to whether Jiang Liang has already arranged a marriage, and what the attitude of Jiang's elders is.

Now that the words have been spoken and the meaning is clear, the task can be considered completed.

As for what happens next, that's none of his business.

The three chatted for a few more minutes. As the tea cooled and the bowls emptied, Instructor Lin stood up and said he had to take his leave.

Jiang Yi was very courteous and escorted him all the way to the courtyard gate.

According to local custom, when such good news is delivered, one should be given some money as a token of good luck and to wish for good fortune.

However, Instructor Lin was no ordinary officer.

He was Jiang Liang's instructor, teaching him martial arts and guiding him step by step; he was practically a master to him.

Now that Jiang Liang has secured a good social standing, his future career path is promising, and their relationship is now close yet distant.

Offering money at this point would seem too distant, as if one were eager to sever ties, which would inevitably alienate people.

This favor must be left for Jiang Liang to repay in the future.

Only after seeing Instructor Lin's figure turn the corner at the village entrance did Jiang Yi turn his gaze back.

Master Cen, who was standing beside him, leaned closer and coughed:
"Well, to be honest, this matter... was brought up by Instructor Lin. He said that Magistrate Tian thinks highly of Jiang Liang and asked me to pass on a message to him."

Jiang Yi's expression remained calm, showing little surprise.

"Speaking of which, the Li family's daughter is indeed a good match."

Seeing his calm and noncommittal expression, Master Cen assumed he was still hesitant and offered another word of advice:
"Don't think that just because Jiang Liang is now a top-ranking soldier, he's arrogant and looks down on his old family."

Jiang Yi didn't actually have such thoughts, but he didn't argue with him and just listened quietly.

Seeing that he did not refute, Master Cen's tone naturally and slowly unfolded.

"The Li family is a family of physicians. Their ancestors included the Imperial Physician and the Assistant Imperial Physician. They were people who could carry medicine boxes into the palace and accompany the emperor to take his pulse."

"Although the branch in Longshan County is only a side branch, it has always maintained close ties with the main lineage."

He paused here, slowing his tone as if afraid of startling people by speaking too quickly.

“His family was stationed at the intersection of these two regions, in charge of the procurement of medicinal materials from the Qiang region to Liangzhou. Every route they took was profitable.”

"To put it bluntly, almost all the herbs and pills in this area nowadays have to go through his hands."

He glanced at Jiang Yi, lowered his voice, and finally whispered:
"If this marriage is arranged, with the Li family's intricate connections, your second son's future will be very promising."

Jiang Yi heard it clearly, but did not answer immediately.

He slowly got up, took out a small coin from the table, and offered it as a wedding gift.

Master Cen saw this, raised an eyebrow, and with a flick of his sleeve, acted decisively:

“I have always been most averse to worldly affairs and have never accepted such vulgar things.”

Jiang Yi wasn't annoyed; instead, he smiled, a slight smirk playing on his lips.

He turned and went to the chicken coop in the corner of the yard. He reached in and scooped out a plump, glossy old hen with strong claws and a gracefully spread tail.

It was not a rare bird that had been fed with medicine residue; it was just an ordinary newly hatched bird with firm flesh, strong bones, and plenty of fat.

Master Cen accepted it, and the wrinkles on his face immediately parted into a smile.

Before leaving, he cupped his hands in a respectful gesture, offered his congratulations, and then carried the chicken out the door.

Jiang Yi stood at the door, watching his figure walk away, before a happy smile appeared on his face.

After a long while, he turned his gaze back to the chicken coop, where a few chickens were still clucking softly.

I picked the one with the shiniest coat, thinking I'd stew a pot of hot soup tonight so the whole family could sit down, have a warm drink, and celebrate.

Less than half a month later, the tall servant from the Liu family brought fruit seedlings to their door.

There were about ten plants in total, not many, but they were all different varieties and had strange appearances.

Some have delicate, light green leaves, and the tips of their branches are still covered in soft down.
Some are entirely dark green, without even a speck of mud on them, and their branches shimmer with a subtle, undulating light.

Just by lining them up in a row, the courtyard seemed to have been transformed.

A breeze blows, and a faint, refreshing scent rises.

Even the old hen by the coop, who coughed all day long, snorted and flapped its wings, looking quite spirited. Jiang Yichu felt a refreshing coolness in his breath and a sense of comfort in his body and mind.

They walked around the saplings, identifying and counting the species as they went.

Before long, I suddenly felt a tightness in my chest, as if someone had pressed a stone against it, and my breathing became erratic.

He paused, took a deep breath, but then felt a wave of dizziness wash over him.

His steps were unsteady, as if he were drunk, and his nostrils were filled with an invisible dampness.

In that instant, he knew what was going on.

This situation is very similar to the feeling of oxygen intoxication in my previous life, only it comes on faster and more intensely.

Jiang Yi has been practicing breathing techniques for several years. Although he is not at the highest level, he can regulate his five internal organs in one breath and breathe continuously for half an incense stick's time without exhaling.

Now that even they can't withstand it, they know that this spiritual energy is no ordinary thing.

These spiritual plants possess a unique pure energy of heaven and earth. If one approaches them rashly before their energy is fully formed, one will only invite trouble.

He quickly took a few steps back, and once his breathing had stabilized somewhat, he chuckled softly and muttered to himself:
"No wonder Master Liu repeatedly instructed that some spiritual fruits must be cultivated to several levels before one dares to serve them."

I simply stopped touching it and waited for my eldest son to come home from school so I could ask him to do the work.

The tall servant in the courtyard, however, seemed completely unaffected.

He moved swiftly among the saplings, touching them as he went.

He knew exactly which plants were susceptible to wind, which were afraid of dampness, which required drip irrigation, and which needed moonlight to shine on them at night… He spoke with great confidence and expertise.

"This kind of spiritual plant, once mature, has thick skin and strong muscles, and is not afraid of lightning or fire."

"But when seedlings are young, they have no control over their growth. If they can't catch their breath, their branches will wither and their leaves will fall."

Jiang Yi listened very attentively, not daring to make a single mistake.

When Jiang Ming returned home from school, before he could even put his schoolbag down properly, his father called him out.

Saplings had already been prepared in the yard. Jiang Yi stood to the side and pointed with his finger:
"Move it up to the foot of the mountain and plant it while the weather is warm."

Jiang Ming is now very strong; he can carry seedlings on his back more steadily than an ox.

He walked all the way to the foot of the mountain and the edge of the field, quickly dug several holes in the ground, and shouted:
"Dad, the pit is dug!"

"It's too shallow."

Jiang Yi squinted, standing a few steps away, and glanced over. "Expand another finger's width to the left."

Jiang Ming scratched his head, his eyes showing confusion, but he didn't say anything and just silently did as he was told.

The saplings were being placed in.

"Wait!"

Jiang Yi whispered a rebuke, his brow furrowing: "The roots are not facing the right direction. Move them half an inch to the east, so that the main root can follow the earth's energy."

Jiang Ming paused for a moment, but his hands didn't stop; he simply adjusted the equipment as instructed.

He didn't seem angry, but he trusted his father.

"Fill the soil, start on the left side, be gentle."

"Don't suppress that feeling."

Jiang Ming did as instructed, never going west when told to go east, and never using five-tenths of his strength when told to use three-tenths.

He went back and forth several times, digging holes, supporting seedlings, and filling in soil, working with practiced ease.

But there was always a hint of bewilderment in his eyes.

These techniques may seem like simple tricks to outsiders, but they all rely on a calm and focused mind.

Even the slightest movement can be detected by a single thought.

Opportunities may lurk in seemingly calm waters; one must discern them clearly.

Jiang Yi, however, was able to calm his mind and observe the subtle details; Jiang Ming, on the other hand, possessed a powerful aura like a dragon and was quick and agile.

The father and son, one observing the aura and the other taking action, made a perfect pair, barely managing to take care of these delicate creatures.
