American Hunting: Starting with Solitary Life in the Wilderness
Chapter 255 The Advantages and Disadvantages of Being Loyal
Chapter 255 The Advantages and Disadvantages of Being Loyal (Seeking Monthly Tickets!)
"My proposal is that you and your current legal wife, Ms. Arya, need to have a mutually agreed divorce."
"Then, as a legally single person, I will have a legal marriage registration with Ms. Emily in the United States."
"The purpose of doing this is to conduct a thorough risk hedging, both legally and ethically. It can bring crucial benefits."
"First, you have shown Ms. Emily that you love and commit to both her and Arya equally. This will make the relationship between the three of you even more emotionally unbreakable."
"Secondly, and most importantly, it provides the perfect ammunition for our future public relations efforts in the event of a financial scandal, and also offers the public an acceptable perspective."
“Lin, you have to understand that most people in America are actually very conservative. They can’t understand the Mormon lifestyle where a man has two wives at the same time.”
“But,” he said, his tone becoming more subtle, “they are very understanding and sympathetic to a responsible man.”
He described it this way: "Imagine if your family structure were exposed by the media in the future, our story would no longer be about controversial polygamy."
"It is a story of great men, full of responsibility and love, who take care of their ex-wife and current wife who bore their children."
"Do you understand the huge difference between a man who takes on the responsibility of caring for two women and all their children, and a cult-like polygamous practice that oppresses women?"
"The former would be seen as responsible in conservative redneck states, and as a progressive modern family in open blue states."
"It may spark controversy, but it will garner more sympathy, understanding, and even admiration!"
"And the latter, no matter where it is, will only be seen as a cult, a scandal!"
"As for your shared life as a family, it will be fully protected through a Family Property and Rights Trust Agreement personally drafted by Matti Singh."
"In that agreement, although Ms. Arya was legally the ex-wife, she would enjoy completely equal rights with Ms. Emily."
Lin Yu'an did not answer immediately. He leaned back in his chair and silently looked out the window at the tranquil snowfield.
He thought of Arya's gentleness and devotion, and Emily's intelligence and sacrifice. This matter was far more important than signing a business contract.
It touches upon their emotions, the core and most sensitive foundation of this special family.
He spoke slowly into the screen, his voice calm yet filled with unquestionable principle: "Mr. Braun, I admit that your proposal is very professional and persuasive."
“But,” he paused, his tone becoming incredibly firm, “this is not a decision I can make alone.”
“They are my family, and any changes to our family structure, whether formal or substantive, must be agreed to by both of them without reservation.”
Therefore, I cannot give you an answer right now.
"I need time to have a discussion with my wives that is within our family."
He looked at the men who controlled the power in Hollywood on the screen and said calmly, "Once we reach a consensus, I will align with you."
These words surprised Scout and Brian on the other end of the video call.
They never expected that at this crucial moment that would determine billions in future commercial value, Lin Yu'an's first consideration would not be profit, but rather the feelings of his family.
But then, a genuine look of appreciation flashed in Scout's eyes.
He knew that this time, he might have really made the right bet.
A man who can still put his family first in the face of great temptation is far more reliable and will go much further than those artists who only pursue fame and fortune.
“I understand, Lin.” Skout nodded, his tone full of respect. “You’re right, family always comes first. We’ll wait for your news.”
The atmosphere of the video conference became somewhat delicate because of this incident.
Breaking the silence was Brian Lord, who once again flashed that signature charming smile that could defuse any awkwardness.
"Alright, now that we've reached a consensus on this most important and most personal risk point."
He glanced at Scout, then at Lin Yu'an on the screen, his tone becoming light and forceful, "Then let's put the next equally important thing on the agenda."
His gaze finally settled on the man who remained as composed as a statue throughout.
“Marty,” Brian’s voice carried a hint of authorization, “I think our new friend can’t wait to see CAA’s first gift.”
He looked at Matti Singh and gestured for him to proceed.
Marty Singh calmly nodded at the camera. He didn't even end the video conference; he simply picked up another phone and put it on speakerphone.
"We can prepare the Gulfstream G650 route application now. Los Angeles to Vancouver, taking off in an hour."
“Okay, sir.” “Also, ask Anderson when he can send me the stock price fluctuation curves and financial reports of Arc’teryx’s parent company Amer Sports and its ultimate parent company Anta Sports over the past year.”
“I need to know exactly how much money they have in their pockets, and how afraid they are of dying lately.”
"Have that new Harvard kid go and organize all the information on Climbing Rat and Old Man Head, including their brand concepts for this quarter and whether they have any new financing plans in the near future."
"I need to know what cards our competitors are capable of playing."
"Finally, connect me to the phone with Markus Weber, the global marketing director of Arc'teryx. Tell him that I will be representing Mr. Lin Yu-an to accept his invitation for a meeting."
"I will be at their headquarters office at 5 p.m. today."
After saying that, he said to Lin Yu'an and Scout on the other end of the video call, "Well then, everyone, I'm going to go and get what my client deserves. Wish me luck."
He hung up the phone, and the video signal cut off. A lightning raid on Arc'teryx headquarters, personally led by the mad dog lawyer, officially began.
Lin Yu'an's image quickly disappeared from the huge conference screen, but the call did not end immediately in the conference room.
On the screen, only CAA co-chair Brian Lord and super-agent Scout Braun remained.
Scout slowly removed his glasses and meticulously wiped them with a velvet cloth. His signature smile vanished, replaced by a deep contemplation.
“Brian,” he said slowly, breaking the silence, “this time, the person I’ve brought for you is not just a simple client.”
"Oh?" Brian leaned back in his chair, stretched, and looked at his old friend with interest. "What do you mean?"
“I’ve seen countless geniuses and ambitious people.” Brian put his glasses back on, his sharp eyes seemingly able to see through people’s hearts. “But someone like Lin Yu’an is the first.”
"He possesses an extremely rare, even contradictory, quality."
"On the one hand, at the negotiating table, he displayed a shark-like ruthlessness and precision, and his sense of interests and his use of rules and strategies were no less than those of professionals."
“But on the other hand,” he changed his tone, his voice becoming somewhat complicated, “when faced with family problems, he showed an almost naive, reckless, and deeply affectionate side.”
"For the sake of his family's feelings, he was even willing to temporarily postpone a decision that would affect his future business value by tens of millions."
He looked at Brian and summarized, word by word, "This strong sense of loyalty is both an artist's greatest strength and his most fatal weakness."
"His strength lies in the fact that his persona is authentic and unbreakable. He would never do anything that would damage his image as a guardian for commercial gain."
"But the downside is that when personal feelings conflict with huge commercial interests at some point in the future, he is likely to choose the former without hesitation."
"People who value relationships and loyalty represent a huge, unpredictable risk for us investors."
After listening to Scooter's insightful analysis, Brian Lord laughed.
He shook his head and said, "Scooter, my old friend, perhaps you've been in the world of Hollywood for too long. I only agree with half of your opinion."
“I admit that being loyal to people may bring risks. But from another perspective, this is precisely what I value most about him.”
Brian, with the profound insight of someone who's been there, said, "I've worked with too many people. Those profit-driven guys might bring you huge profits in the short term."
"But when a greater benefit appears, they will not hesitate to be the first to betray you. Such people are like dogs that can never be tamed."
“And people like Lin Yu’an.” He paused, his tone becoming incredibly certain.
"They might reject a project because of their principles, but they would never betray a friend who has helped them for the sake of mere self-interest."
"As long as you don't cross their bottom line of trust, they are the most reliable and worthwhile allies in the world."
"So, Scout, my friend, I'm betting not only on his talent, but also on his character."
Scout listened quietly and remained silent for a long time.
"Alright, Brian. I didn't expect you to value him so much. Well then, let's look forward to seeing what kind of amazing profits this 'new project' will bring!"
After saying that, the two smiled at each other and ended the call.
An epic business strategy centered around Lin Yu-an was truly launched in full force only when the two giants reached a final consensus.
