Chapter 72 Black Bear Spotted!

The time has come to the seventy-third day.

Winter has completely transformed the shores of Lake Chirko into a world of silver and white.

This was a rare sunny day, and also the day the production crew came to collect footage.

Lin Yu'an set up the camera and, instead of busying himself with his work as usual, moved a flat wooden stake and sat down at the entrance of the stone house shelter.

Holding a wooden bowl filled with hot pine needle tea, he gazed wistfully at the distant lake covered in ice and snow, lost in thought.

Just then, a bright orange figure, like a flickering flame in the snow, emerged from the treeline not far away.

It was that intelligent red fox cub who guarded the traps and ate at the buffet.

However, the little fox seemed unusually strange today.

It simply stopped in the snow, about ten meters away from Lin Yu'an.

The red fox's body was tense, its ears were perked up alertly, and its bushy tail hung uneasily behind it.

It didn't look at Lin Yu'an, but kept anxiously turning its head to look back at the dense forest it had come from.

A very low "woof" sound came from his throat, a sound filled with obvious tension and...fear.

"Hmm? Little one, what's wrong?"

Lin Yu'an's smile vanished instantly; he immediately noticed the little fox's unusual behavior.

At that very moment, his sixth sense also issued a strong warning to him—a sign of danger!
Lin Yu'an's gaze followed the little fox's wary look and landed on the eerily quiet spruce forest.

His heart began to pound faster.

The person who could elicit such intense fear from this cunning fox was definitely not someone to be trifled with.

Without the slightest hesitation, he quickly turned around and hurried back into the stone shelter.

"Guys...something's coming...a big one."

Instead of hiding, he immediately sprang into action to prepare for the upcoming battle.

His movements were quick yet orderly, demonstrating exceptional adaptability.

He first quickly took out the bear spray provided by the production team, checked the safety pin, and hung it on his waist!

Immediately afterwards, he walked quickly to the corner of the wall and picked up the 50-pound American hunting bow that had been with him for many days.

He quickly and skillfully strung the hunting bow, and with a muffled "hum," the bow was filled with tension.

He slung the quiver over his shoulder and checked all the arrows in the hunting arrowheads.

After doing all this, he took a deep breath, already prepared for the worst.

He knew that bear spray and arrows might not be decisive when facing a hungry bear.

His true trump card is his unknown spatial ability, which allows him to use space to annihilate any animal at any time!

He glanced at the still-functioning camera on his chest, and a thought flashed through his mind.

If it really comes to the point of needing to utilize the space, the only option afterwards will be to physically destroy the action camera.

The anxious red fox cub outside suddenly let out a short, sharp cry.

He then turned abruptly and ran off in the opposite direction from the dense forest without looking back, quickly disappearing behind a snow-covered hill.

Lin Yu'an's pupils suddenly contracted. He knew that the real threat had appeared!

He did not hesitate for a moment, nor did he back down in the slightest.

Instead, there was a mixture of tension and vigilance, but also an unprecedented fighting spirit!
"Guys, it looks like we have a big guest coming."

His voice was deep and steady, without the slightest tremor, and even carried a hint of barely perceptible excitement.

Lin Yu'an resolutely walked to the open snowfield in front of the shelter.

He needed a wide field of vision, and enough space to react. "Shh...shh..."

A slow, heavy sound of footsteps crunching through the snow came from the depths of the silent spruce forest.

Finally, under Lin Yu'an's focused gaze, a huge, jet-black figure slowly emerged from the shadows of the spruce forest.

That was an extremely robust adult American black bear!

Its fur, glistening in the cool sunlight, contrasted sharply with the surrounding snow.

Although not as despairingly large as a grizzly bear, its sturdy limbs and powerful, broad body still exude a strong sense of oppression.

The black bear was clearly attracted by the lingering aroma of meat from the smokehouse near Lin Yu-an's shelter, as well as the activity of the little fox.

It stopped about fifty meters away from Lin Yu'an, its huge nose sniffing the air intensely, as if analyzing and confirming the source of the smell.

Then its small, black bean-like eyes were fixed firmly on Lin Yu'an—the two-legged creature who dared to stand in front of it.

A man and a bear, their eyes locked.

Time seemed to stand still at this moment.

The air froze, all was silent, except for the faint whistling sound of the wind blowing through the distant treetops.

Lin Yu'an felt his adrenaline surging, but his mind remained remarkably calm.

He gripped the hunting bow tightly in his left hand, while his right fingers were already on the spray valve of the bear spray.

His eyes, however, showed no sign of flinching or fear, meeting the black bear's cold, scrutinizing gaze directly.

He did not back down, shout, or make any aggressive or provocative moves.

It simply stood there quietly, like a statue rooted in the earth, using its posture to declare its existence and indomitable spirit to the black bear.

The black bear seemed somewhat surprised by the composure of the tiny creature before it.

It irritably pawed at the snow on the ground with its forepaws, letting out a low, thunderous roar in its throat, trying to overwhelm its opponent with its imposing presence.

"Roar--!"

Powerful sound waves echoed through the silent forest, filled with warning and threat.

Lin Yu'an remained motionless, his mind racing as he assessed the other party's intentions and the distance between them.

He knew that the black bear was likely only attracted by the smell of food and was currently in the probing phase.

If he shows fear and the intention to run away at this moment, it may instantly trigger the other party's pursuit instinct, thus losing the opportunity to strike first.

He began to speak to the black bear in a calm yet powerful voice, not for the purpose of communication, but to let the bear know that he was a vocal being, unlike ordinary prey.

"Hey, big guy... this is my territory!"

The black bear tilted its massive head, seemingly trying to understand the strange sound.

It took a few more steps forward and stopped about forty meters away, pressing its forepaws alternately on the snow, looking somewhat hesitant.

Lin Yu'an's right hand had completely gripped the bear spray canister, with his thumb resting firmly on the safety pin.

The standoff reached its peak at this moment!

Whether to fight or retreat depends entirely on the other side's decision.

Lin Yu'an's gaze remained unwavering; he had made all the necessary preparations.

If the black bear dares to take another step forward, he will not hesitate to draw his bow and shoot an arrow!
The action camera on his chest and the fixed camera in front of the door were silently recording everything.
