Kyoto kisses her

Chapter 5: Is Huo Jingcheng waiting for his prey to come to him?

"Are you leaving?"

Su Mingyan indulged his younger sister, letting her wrap her arms around his neck and jump around. Only when she was about to twist her ankle and fall did he reach out and support her elbow.

Su Ruoyun released her hand and the next second she tucked the rose in her hand into Su Mingyan's suit handkerchief pocket. "No, I haven't told the employees yet."

Upon hearing this, Su Mingyan raised an eyebrow, as if questioning the boss's authority, "Does the boss have to tell the employees before leaving get off work?"

As he spoke, he glanced down at the delicate flower pinned to his chest; the black suit and pink flower seemed mismatched.

So Su Mingyan decisively reached out and took it out, then threw it into the roadside trash can with a backhand. The force was just right; the rose hit the metal edge, rolled once, and fell into the trash can.

"No," Su Ruoyun denied. She hadn't told Xiao Hu that the money for the Guanlan private room didn't need to be collected. Besides, Huo Jingcheng hadn't left yet. What if she had just said the meal was free, and then the employee collected the money again? Would she still be able to continue doing business?

Thinking of Huo Jingcheng, she lifted her eyelids and glanced at her brother, a vague sense of guilt welling up inside her again: "Brother, you..."

Su Ruoyun was a little embarrassed about what she was about to say. She paused for a moment, then continued, "Wait here for me. I'm going inside to take care of something. I'll be right back."

Because she didn't want Su Mingyan to meet Huo Jingcheng, she could only have Su Mingyan wait for her outside.

Su Mingyan clicked his tongue in dissatisfaction, his hands behind his back. "Miss Su, your brother is already at the door, and you don't even invite him in for a cup of tea. It's a shame you run a teahouse."

Su Ruoyun looked at his expression and, seeing that he didn't seem angry, retorted, "If you want tea, there are plenty of people who would like to invite you. You don't need my cup."

"Alright, I'm not talking to you anymore, I'm going in." With that, she turned and walked towards the door in her high heels.

Su Mingyan put his left hand in his pocket, watched Su Ruoyun's departing figure, shook his head helplessly, then took two or three steps forward with a leisurely gait, stopped in front of the steps of the east gate, and ultimately did not follow her inside.

But Huo Jingcheng was nowhere to be seen behind the door.

As Su Ruoyun walked through the covered walkway, she spotted a tall and imposing figure.

The man held a half-smoked cigarette between his right fingers, his left hand resting on the wooden railing. His shirt sleeve slid down, revealing an expensive watch on his wrist. Looking down, he saw the bluish-white ash scattered all over the ground.

He was like someone waiting for a rabbit to run into a tree stump...

Su Ruoyun shook her head, banishing this unrealistic thought from her mind.

She was wearing high heels, so the sound of her footsteps was impossible to be quiet; the clattering of her footsteps was so loud that Huo Jingcheng noticed her even before she got close.

The man turned his head and looked, his eyes locking onto his target with precision.

Su Ruoyun's lips twitched slightly, and she greeted him gracefully, "Mr. Huo."

As she approached, Huo Jingcheng said, "The proprietress's tea-making skills are superb; the tea is delicious."

Su Ruoyun did not feign modesty; instead, she readily accepted his praise.

The two walked into the front yard side by side, and a small incident occurred as they crossed the threshold.

Su Ruoyun wore a cheongsam that reached her ankles, revealing only a small section of her fair calves, but it inevitably felt restrictive.

As she took a step, the tip of her shoe hit the wooden board, causing her to lose her balance and stumble forward.

Just when she thought an accident was about to happen, a large hand easily grabbed her slender wrist and pulled her back.

Su Ruoyun took a deep breath, her rapid heartbeat still not back to normal, her voice trembling with panic, "Thank you, Mr. Huo."

The man replied crisply, "You're welcome." (From the front yard cashier.)

Xiao Hu was operating the cash register.

Huo Jingcheng took a black gold card out of his wallet and handed it to Su Ruoyun.

Su Ruoyun stared at the chip on the card for two seconds, thinking that Huo Jingcheng had forgotten, and reminded him, "I said, your bill today is on the house."

The black gold card was not taken back; Huo Jingcheng said, "Then put the money into the membership card."

This time, Su Ruoyun did not refuse again, and took it with her hand. However, when entering the amount, she deliberately calculated it to be less.

POS receipts require the cardholder's signature.

When Su Ruojun took the order, she couldn't help but look at the signature. The handwriting was neat and fluent, with strong and sharp strokes, making one think of the saying "the handwriting reflects the person".

Compared to the person in front of me, it seems that every stroke of the brush reflects a strong yet restrained aura.

She placed the form on the walnut tabletop and pressed it under the POS machine.

Huo Jingcheng lowered his eyes, stared at her face carefully for several seconds, and said slowly, "I still don't know what the boss lady's last name is?"

“Yun”.

He repeated the pronunciation to himself, without asking any further questions, as if he knew which specific character "yun" it was, yet also as if he didn't.

"Goodbye, Mr. Yun." The man's tone was calm and deep.

Su Ruoyun smiled and said, "Mr. Huo, welcome back next time."

The girl's voice was like a gentle stream, soft and sweet without being cloying, like old Beijing pastries—sweet but not cloying, clear and clean, with a soothing and comforting quality.
Huo Jingcheng paused as he was leaving the house, but only for a moment before resuming his normal steps.

Watching Huo Jingcheng's figure disappear into the distance, Xiao Hu lowered his head and heard a seemingly casual remark: "Mr. Huo is quite a nice person."

Xiao Hu found it amusing; she didn't want to expose the landlady, wondering whether Mr. Huo was a good person or just good because he paid money.

Having made money today, Su Ruoyun was in a good mood, and her steps were light as she walked back to the East Gate.

Su Mingyan's driver took the Mercedes she had brought home, while she got into the Maybach, driven by Su Mingyan himself. Tonight, the two siblings were going back to the compound to have dinner with their grandparents.

Su Ruoyun sat in the passenger seat with a limited-edition handbag on her lap. She unzipped it, took out her phone, turned around, and threw the small handbag onto the back seat.

She hadn't finished the mini-game yet, so she turned her phone to landscape mode, and the screen displayed two white English words—ANGER BIRDS.

The Maybach turned onto the overpass and drove smoothly.

Su Ruoyun swiped her finger across the screen and pulled the slingshot back. Su Mingyan, who was in the driver's seat next to her, called her name, "Su Ruoyun."

The man's tone was casual, and she responded indifferently, her mind completely absorbed in the game. She only heard Su Mingyan ask, "Did Huo Jingcheng come to the teahouse today?"

Su Mingyan's tone was gentle, but it carried a chilling undertone to Su Ruojun's ears.

Her hand trembled, and she didn't pull the slingshot properly. The little white bird crashed straight into the hillside, failing to eliminate the green pig and dying first.
