Chapter 39: A New Case Arises
We got off the bus at the location where the body was dumped.

Su Miaoyi put on her gloves and looked around.

When Ge Yu and Cheng Yong picked her up yesterday, it wasn't fully light yet, and the surroundings were shrouded in a gray haze.

Qi Feng got out of another car, carrying a survey kit.

Su Miaoyi parted the surrounding grass to take a look.

The grass in this area is very tall.

There's only a narrow path worn down by people, where people probably come to fish often.

It's just that it's blocked now.

Qi Feng and Chu Xingrou walked ahead.

Su Miaoyi whispered to Zhuang Yanzheng and Yan Cheng, "I saw the murderer commit the crime at the girl's house, and I saw the victim's information..."

"On our way here, Lu Zhishen used a skull to reconstruct the victim's face, and it matched. The police have already gone to the victim's residence," Zhuang Yanzheng said. "Hopefully, we'll find some clues. In the previous three cases, the crime scenes were all very clean. The killer was very good at counter-surveillance."

“You said that he chose to dump the body here, so he must have some understanding of this place,” Su Miaoyi said.

"We've narrowed down the scope of our investigation based on the available information," Zhuang Yanzheng said.

"Has it rained here in the past week?" Yan Cheng asked.

“I’ve been back for over a week, and it hasn’t rained,” Su Miaoyi said.

Yan Cheng nodded.

Zhuang Yanzheng looked down at the grass at his feet.

There won't be any footprints left at all.

The body was wrapped tightly in plastic, and there was no blood left.

The group carefully surveyed the surrounding area.

After a while, Zhuang Yanzheng pulled a cufflink out from the thick grass.

He took it in his hand and looked at it.

The black cufflinks reflected the sunlight slightly.

Zhuang Yanzheng placed it in the evidence bag.

"Cufflinks?" Su Miaoyi noticed.

Zhuang Yanzheng handed her the bag of evidence.

Su Miaoyi looked at it and said, "This isn't cheap, is it?"

"A pair costs over three thousand at the department store," Zhuang Yanzheng said.

Su Miaoyi gasped: "You can investigate?"

“They will have customer purchase information.” Zhuang Yanzheng had just finished saying this.

The group suddenly fell silent and looked together at the waist-high grass to the west.

They had all heard the noise.

Someone just moved over there.

Chu Xingrou and Qi Feng both looked at Zhuang Yanzheng.

Zhuang Yanzheng made a hand gesture.

Qi Feng slowly stepped forward.

Zhuang Yanzheng and Yan Cheng also slowly walked forward.

Chu Xingrou understood the gesture.

But because it was her first time encountering a situation where someone was being arrested, she was a little nervous. Her whole body was tense, and she held her breath while clenching her hands and slowly moving forward.

Su Miaoyi stood still.

Suddenly, a noise came from the bushes, and the person ran away.

They quickly went forward and entered the bushes.

Yan Cheng and Zhuang Yanzheng exchanged a glance, and then Yan Cheng walked to Su Miaoyi's side instead of stepping forward.

Su Miaoyi looked behind her again: "What if someone tries to flank us from this side?"

"That would be very unlucky," Yan Cheng said calmly.

"Can you fight?" Su Miaoyi asked.

"I'd rather have Zhuang Yanzheng," Yan Cheng said frankly.

"Is he that strong?" Su Miaoyi only knew that he was very strong.

Yan Cheng nodded: "Very impressive. They have a very good foundation from a young age."

From childhood?

Su Miaoyi was curious, but she didn't ask any further questions.

She looked around again, but there was no movement, so there must be no one there, because she had missed the best opportunity to encircle them.

Soon, Zhuang Yanzheng and the others returned.

Qi Feng brought back a man in his forties. He was wearing a white T-shirt and black pants, which were loosely draped over his shoulders.

The man's hands were cuffed behind his back: "Officer, I was just curious and came to take a look. I didn't do anything. Why are you arresting me?"

"You didn't do anything, so why are you running?" Qi Feng said.

"I came here to take a look, but who knew you would suddenly show up. I was worried I wouldn't be able to explain myself properly, so I hid. But I didn't hide well, and you found me," the man said.

"What's so interesting about this? Come and look here," Qi Feng said.

Su Miaoyi looked at the man.

He was not the murderer who disposed of the body.

The height, weight, and body type don't match, and the accent and voice they speak are also different.

But why would someone be here in the middle of the day? It's very suspicious.

The man was talking to Qi Feng when he probably noticed that someone was watching him.

He tilted his head slightly and looked at Su Miaoyi.

Their eyes met.

Su Miaoyi's vision suddenly went dark.

Dark night.

The river made a little noise because of the wind.

The man moved a large rock from the riverbank.

He looked around as he tied the rope to the rock.

His eyes were filled with fear.

A stone was tied to one end of the rope.

The other end was tied to the waist of the woman lying on the riverbank.

Then she tied the woman's hands and feet together, and tied them with stones as well.

Then he pushed the man and the stones into the river.

A loud thud.

The waves splashed, and after a long time the river returned to calm.

Then the man knelt by the river and bowed towards the water.

He said, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to, I just drank too much. I'm so sorry. Go and be reincarnated, and enjoy a peaceful life next time. Please don't come looking for me, please don't come looking for me."

"And then again, it's not all my fault. You were out there in such a short skirt late at night, weren't you just trying to seduce people? I was just doing what you wanted. You can't blame me, you can't blame me."

"I was drunk and didn't hold back. I didn't mean to kill you. You were the one who kept yelling and crying. That's why I accidentally hurt you."

"Am I the only one who feels good about this? What are you complaining about, crying so loudly? If you have to blame someone, blame your fate. It has nothing to do with me. Please don't come looking for me."

After he finished speaking, he bowed again and then stood up.

He cleaned up all the footprints around him and ran away.

The darkness vanished, and the sun shone into our eyes.

Su Miaoyi raised her hand to shield her eyes from the sun.

Zhuang Yanzheng and Yan Cheng were both looking at her.

Seeing that she made a move.

"What did you see?" Zhuang Yanzheng asked.

Su Miaoyi looked at the two of them, then pointed at the man and said, "He killed someone."

Both of them looked at the man again.

Upon hearing her words, the man immediately shouted, "I didn't, I didn't! I was just curious and came here to take a look. How could I possibly kill someone? It's a misunderstanding, it must be a misunderstanding."

"You killed someone." Su Miaoyi took a few steps forward. "You're here to see if the police have found any evidence that you dumped the body into the river, right?"

"What are you saying? I don't understand." The man's eyes flickered slightly.

"You tied stones to a woman's waist, hands, and feet, and threw her into the river. You say you didn't know?" Su Miaoyi said.

The man's expression suddenly changed drastically as he realized something: "What are you saying? What are you saying? Impossible, impossible!"

His eyes were filled not only with fear but also with disbelief.

Why would anyone know this?

"Don't you know what I'm talking about?" Su Miaoyi sneered. "Fine. Once the body is retrieved, let her ask you herself."

That hits the nail on the head regarding what men fear most.

The man was in pain and his legs suddenly went weak, causing him to kneel on the ground.

There's a ghost! There's a ghost!
It's been found!

It's been found!
