Chapter 40 Don't mention her to me

The rain was heavy, and Zhu Yan rushed into the rain and disappeared.

Only Wen Li and Xin Yuan were left staring at each other in bewilderment.

Xin Yuan looked somewhat troubled, glancing at the direction Zhu Yan had disappeared in, then at Wen Li.

Xin Yuan said earnestly, "Wen Li, the wooden bottle really was a gift from Brother Zhu Yan. He put a lot of thought into it."

Xin Yuan noticed very early on that Zhu Yan was busy with her flowers and plants, a process that involved a lot of grinding, refining, and so on.

Xin Yuan was dazzled by the sights and didn't look at them closely anymore, only occasionally glancing at them.

"Uh... what exactly is that?" Wen Li asked, looking somewhat embarrassed.

No one could be more embarrassed than her.

Zhu Yan overheard what I just said! I'm doomed!
"It looks like medicine," Xin Yuan said. "You can apply it to insect bites, and they'll get better quickly."

The medicines made by witch doctors don't smell good; they have a strong odor.

Zhu Yan had taken this into consideration, which is why she went to Bai Yanci to ask for flowers to balance the flavors.

“I’m not lying to you, that was a gift from Brother Zhu Yan,” Xin Yuan emphasized again.

He wasn't thick-skinned enough to take Zhu Yan's feelings for granted.

I still couldn't help but speak up for him.

Wen Li felt a chill run down her spine.

What am I going to do? This is so embarrassing. I wish she hadn't said that in the first place.

Xin Yuan looked worriedly in the direction Zhu Yan had left.

He then said to Wen Li, "Wen Li, I'm going to take a look. I'll be back in a bit."

Wen Li nodded blankly, "Okay."

Xin Yuan's figure disappeared into the rain.

Wen Li stood there for a while, then slunk back to her cave.

She's the worst at handling these kinds of things.

Who would have thought that Zhu Yan would still give her a gift despite disliking her so much? He's really generous.

Wen Li herself couldn't do it.

So she judged him by her own petty standards...

Wen Li sat down on the bed and bit her finger.

What's next?
Should we return the items? Or apologize?

Wen Li considered what would happen if she made the two choices.

Given Zhu Yan's temper, he would most likely lose his temper in the former case, escalating the conflict between the two.

Wen Li didn't want to make her strategy too difficult, so she ultimately decided to choose the latter.

The latter proved to be the better option.

It's said that you can't hit someone who's smiling, and Zhu Yan was actually taking the initiative to be friendly this time, but she misunderstood.

Well, apologize then. A true man can bend and stretch.

Just as Wen Li was pondering a solution, a frustrated Zhu Yan stood blankly in the heavy rain for a while before finally heading towards Bai Yanci's house.

"I'm sick too. That's clearly my home. What's the point of running away?" Zhu Yan muttered to herself.

They arrived at Bai Yanci's house, cursing and swearing.

Amidst the torrential rain, Bai Yanci was staying home cooking.

He had just woken up, his eyelids were slightly drooping, and his soft, long black hair hung loosely on both sides of his shoulders. He had a beautiful face.

She looks incredibly domestic while cooking.

Bai Yanci was taken aback when he suddenly saw a soaking wet person rush into his cave.

Upon closer inspection, it was discovered to be Zhu Yan.

"Why are you here?" Bai Yanci asked in surprise.

Why did you come in the rain?
"I came to see you," Zhu Yan said dryly.

Bai Yanci gave Zhu Yan a strange look.

He'd have to be crazy to believe that.

Zhu Yan's appearance didn't look like she was coming to see him at all; she should have brought an umbrella.
"You haven't had breakfast yet?" Zhu Yan asked.

The pot in Bai Yanci's pot was steaming, but it didn't smell good at all. Bai Yanci nodded, "Have you eaten? Do you want to eat together? I'll add some more meat?"

"I've already eaten," Zhu Yan refused.

His appetite had been completely spoiled by Wen Li, and he didn't even want to look at Bai Yanci's food.

The animal hide was wet and sticky, clinging to his body. Zhu Yan said, "Let me borrow your clothes."

"I am searching."

After Bai Yanci finished speaking, he went to the cabinet, took out his animal skin coat, and threw it to Zhu Yan.

The two were similar in build, and sometimes Zhu Yan would wear Bai Yanci's clothes.

Zhu Yan had quickly stripped himself naked, revealing a strong and muscular physique, every inch of him exuding power.

He tried on Bai Yanci's clothes and found them a bit tight.

"Have your clothes gotten too small?" Zhu Yan complained.

These days, animal hides can shrink?
Bai Yanci looked at Zhu Yan with a complicated expression. "What do you mean your clothes have shrunk? You've just gotten stronger lately, haven't you?"

I hadn't really noticed before, but looking closely at Zhu Yan, he seems to have gotten quite a bit stronger.

Previously, the two were about the same size, but now Zhu Yan can't even fit into his clothes anymore.

"Have you been eating too much lately?" Bai Yanci complained.

Eating a ton of food every day and hunting during the day, it's no wonder he gets stronger and stronger.

"Huh? Really??"

Zhu Yan looked herself over, but didn't notice anything particularly different.

He's gotten used to things this way.

To be honest, he has been eating quite a lot lately.

It's not his fault; it's just that the food was delicious every day, and there were different kinds every day.

Zhu Yan was worried that if she ate this meal, she wouldn't have another one, so she basically ate like crazy during meals.

"Take it easy," Bai Yanci said with a mischievous grin. "These days, females dislike strong, muscular males like you the most."

Zhu Yan ended up only managing to wrap the lower half of the animal-patterned skirt around her neck, covering her vital parts, while her upper body remained naked.

"What did you say?" Zhu Yan snorted coldly. "A strong male like me is the symbol of power."

Bai Yanci smiled but remained silent.

Zhu Yan's heart skipped a beat when she saw his strange smile.

After a moment of silence, Zhu Yan couldn't help but ask again, "Are you serious?"

“Of course, I heard it with my own ears.” Bai Yanci said earnestly.

His words weren't unfounded; he overheard two females discussing how their male beastmen were too muscular.

He said that on purpose just to tease Zhu Yan.

Zhu Yan took it all seriously, his face contorted in a frown.

"What's with that expression?" Bai Yanci raised an eyebrow, seeing how concerned Zhu Yan was. "Don't tell me you're trying to lose weight?"

This silly tiger is starting to pay attention to its appearance; perhaps it has found a female it likes?
Bai Yanci quickly recalled that the man who came to him that day asking for flowers was strange.

"Hmph, how could that be?" Zhu Yan snorted coldly.

He doesn't care!
Bai Yanci's breakfast was ready. He took the food out of the pot one by one and ate it politely.

"You really won't eat?" Bai Yanci asked again.

Zhu Yan glanced at the white meat on his plate, shook her head, and said, "I won't eat it."

"So picky." Bai Yanci shook his head.

Bai Yanci ate very politely and quickly.

He didn't say much, and quickly finished processing the meat in the pot.

While clearing away the dishes, Bai Yanci finally spoke: "How's that guy been lately?"

For a while, Bai Yanci hadn't heard any of Wen Li's antics, and he had never felt so comfortable with his life.

Zhu Yan knew that Bai Yanci was referring to Wen Li.

He had just had a falling out with Wen Li not long ago and didn't want to think about her.

Zhu Yan said coldly, "Don't mention her to me!"
