Chapter 68 Free Parkour
Chapter 68 Free Parkour
To catch the earliest ferry, the two of them got up very early. Jing Chaoyi was still sleepy and rubbed her somewhat drowsy eyes.
She glanced at Li Younan beside her with a mixture of admiration and envy. Li Younan's energy was truly boundless; he was full of spirit and vitality.
For many travelers, the island didn't meet their expectations; it lacked stunning scenery, leading to numerous complaints. But upon arriving, Jing Chaoyi discovered it wasn't so bad after all.
Before arriving on the island, the two did some research and learned that the most interesting thing about the island was that there was one piano for every three people on average, so it was also known as the "Piano Island." Several of China's most famous musicians came from here, the most recent being Lang Lang's teacher.
Jing Chaoyi smiled and said to Li Younan, "Senior, I checked online. There are quite a few shared practice rooms on the island where you can relax while listening to others play the piano. Also... there's a first organ performance at 10 o'clock."
The two walked inside, while Li Younan was planning to start parkour.
There are no motor vehicles on the entire island; besides walking, there are only a few electric vehicles available. Jing Chaoyi bought a ticket for the island's shuttle bus and was about to board when she noticed Li Younan hadn't moved. She tilted her head and asked, "Senior, are you getting on too?"
Li Younan suddenly smiled and said, "You go ahead first, I'll come find you later."
Jing Chaoyi blinked: "What are you going to do?"
Li Younan turned his head. He had cut his hair a couple of days ago, with his sideburns shaved and his bangs fluttering lightly, looking neat and tidy. He said, "I want to take advantage of the cool weather to go for a run."
As he spoke, he waved the action camera in his hand at Jing Chaoyi.
Jing Chaoyi was speechless. She didn't want to move at all right now, so she waved her hand and said, "Okay, then show me the video later."
After Jing Chaoyi's electric scooter left, Li Younan took a deep breath and slowly walked towards the beach.
This island is perfect for parkour.
Although Gulangyu lacks dedicated parkour venues, its varied natural terrain, historical buildings, and coastline naturally create a challenging and visually striking landscape.
There weren't many tourists at that time.
Li Younan wore his most comfortable shoes, worn through, as he stepped on the rough rocks, the shoes making a soft, rustling sound. The sun hadn't fully risen yet; the light was a lukewarm golden hue, casting long shadows across the old stones.
Li Younan put on his action camera, squinted at the shimmering light on the distant sea, and instead of rushing up, he used his hands and feet to inch his way up along the natural steps and cracks in the rocks.
He climbed to the top of a slightly flatter rock, stood up straight, and the wind picked up a bit, making his sweaty forehead feel cool.
He felt a little regretful; the scenery here and now was quite beautiful, but Jing Chaoyi couldn't see it.
The red-roofed houses below huddled together quietly. In the distance, an early-rising boat slowly glided across the sea, leaving a white trail in its wake.
All of this was captured on camera.
After looking around enough, find a slightly lower rock, estimate the distance, lower your waist, push off with your feet, and you'll float down lightly, landing steadily on the protruding rock below. There's hardly any sound; you can only hear your own breathing and a few birds chirping in the distance.
On camera, this action will look very thrilling and cool.
I strolled down and turned into Shuzhuang Garden.
The artificial mountain maze of the Twelve Caves is a natural training ground for crawling through caves.
Li Younan didn't remember the way; he just wandered around by instinct.
The stone wall was cool and slightly damp, with a thin layer of moss growing in some places.
As I crouched and crawled out of a low stone cave, a bright and open view suddenly appeared before me, revealing the mountaintop of Sunlight Rock nestled against the blue sky, with a backdrop of lush green leaves in the garden below.
Li Younan casually took a few steps on the low artificial hill wall, the narrow stone slabs making his steps steady.
Several unnamed little white flowers bloomed at the base of the wall, swaying gently in the breeze.
I wandered aimlessly to Gangzaihou. The sand was soft, and the tide had just receded, leaving behind streaks of sand.
Li Younan jogged along the boundary between the sea and the beach. The waves surged up, just covering his ankles, and it felt very cool.
Running, occasionally doing a somersault, when the rocky area ahead came into view, I would jump forward on the big and small, pitted and uneven stones.
The rocks were smooth and rough from being washed by the sea, and some small seashells were still stuck to them. Li Younan squatted down and picked up a few pieces at random.
All of this was captured on camera.
There was a large rock blocking the way, so I turned sideways and pushed off the rock wall next to me, using the momentum to flip over.
It would be exciting and cool to be on camera.
Next up are the alleyways with those old houses.
The alley was narrow, with high walls on both sides, and some bougainvillea peeked out from the top of the walls.
The ground was paved with old stone slabs, some of which were uneven.
Li Younan jogged along the base of the wall, occasionally encountering a short section of low wall, where he would naturally prop himself up with his hands and sit down with his legs.
In the shot, the first-person perspective is sitting on the wall with legs dangling. Looking up, one can see clothes drying in the depths of the alley, as well as several potted plants on people's windowsills.
The sunlight clearly cut the shadows on the wall.
He jumped down and continued walking. When he came to a few steps, Li Younan turned sideways, lightly tapped his feet on the side of the steps a few times, and slid down.
There weren't many people around at the moment, the alley was quiet, and the sound of a piano drifted intermittently from afar.
When they reached the Drum Sound Cave, Li Younan was already very hot.
The tunnel wasn't long, and it was cool and shady inside, creating a stark contrast with the sunlight outside.
Li Younan slowly walked in, his footsteps making a particularly clear sound inside.
When you reach the middle of the tunnel, you can see the exit shining brightly in the sunlight.
Li Younan increased his speed slightly, not sprinting, but just running a little faster, towards the light. The moment he rushed out of the tunnel, the sea breeze carrying the scent of sunshine rushed towards him, and suddenly the view opened up before him, with the azure sea spreading out before him.
Stopping at the tunnel entrance, Li Younan was slightly out of breath. The thin layer of sweat on his forehead felt pleasantly cool as the wind blew on it.
He squinted at the horizon where the sea met the sky, where several seabirds flew slowly, their wingtips gleaming in the sunlight.
Li Younan took the action camera down and pressed the stop button.
The scene we just saw, rushing from the darkness of the tunnel into the light of the sea, must have been quite interesting.
The sun was high in the sky, warming his back. Li Younan shook his neck, loosened his helmet strap, and continued walking.
Parkour in a place like this must be really enjoyable. Perhaps the third-person footage of my previous parkour session at Guanyin Beach could be edited together with this first-person video.
For example, in a third-person perspective, he's hanging like a cat in the field, turns his head, and the scene instantly switches to a first-person perspective looking towards the ocean... and so on.
Although I can't do it myself, I'm sure Brother Long can.
But now that there were more and more tourists, Li Younan squinted at the sun and thought, "It's about time. I can go find Jing Chaoyi."
As you go further in, the sound of a piano begins to emerge.
