Chapter 9 Duoyun Academy
Reservations are required to visit Duoyun Academy. Li Younan arrived at the Binhai Center Building on time according to his appointment.

He had visited Duoyun Academy before, and his ex-girlfriend Yang Ting was with him then.

At this moment, Li Younan looked up at the building that almost pierced the clouds, and couldn't help but recall the scene when he came here with Yang Ting before.

He had just graduated from university and it was his first time here.

As he was deep in thought, a young couple, who looked like college students, approached him. The girl teased, "You've come all the way to Binhai City and you've never even been here before? You're so out of touch!"

The boy retorted, dissatisfied: "Does coming here make me seem high-class? I think it's just so-so."

Li Younan found it amusing, recalling that Yang Ting had said something similar before. As a native of Binhai City, Yang Ting proudly said, "I brought you here today to broaden your horizons. It would be too embarrassing if you never even went to Duoyun Academy."

Li Younan didn't believe that visiting a certain place would make a person more sophisticated, and he didn't take Yang Ting's words to heart. Later, he went up to Duoyun Academy, which was essentially just ordering a not-so-cheap drink in a very tall bookstore and looking at the city's big buildings from the window.

If this is considered high-class, then ordering a free drink on a plane and looking down over Binhai City would be the pinnacle of high-class, thousands of times better than Duoyun Academy.

Li Younan was satisfied with his idea, and then strolled leisurely into the building.

Now, with a different purpose and a different mindset, Li Younan has returned here and found that it is not so bad after all. The advance reservation and flow control measures have kept the number of people going to Duoyun Academy from being too high each day, which has brought a better experience and safety to those who come.

Taking the private elevator directly to the floor where Duoyun Academy is located, Li Younan quickly received a system notification: "You have entered the check-in location. Please stay here for 6 hours to complete the check-in."

Another 6 hours?

However, compared to spending six hours in a park late at night, it is clear that being in the academy is much more pleasant.

At least, ordering a coffee and buying a book here and sitting in a corner for six hours won't seem weird.

To see the city views, you have to buy a drink, which is essentially a disguised ticket.

Li Younan picked out a book.

He was a pure science and engineering student, but those who understand literature know that many contemporary poetic works actually come from science and engineering men.

Li Younan felt he couldn't let down science and engineering students, so he picked a novel by Haruki Murakami... even though he had almost never read this type of book before.

Then he lined up to buy a drink.

There were many people in line, but the order was well maintained. However, there were very few people like him who were not in a hurry at all. After all, Li Younan was going to stay here for 6 hours, so everything else could be taken for granted.

He ordered an iced Americano and found a corner seat by the window.

In fact, it's impossible to see the entire city of Binhai while sitting down; you have to stand up.

Tourists who have just arrived are all leaning against the windows taking photos and checking in, or holding their children and looking out the window.

Li Younan seemed somewhat out of place. After sitting down, he didn't stand up to look out the window, but instead opened a book and began to read it slowly.

My mindset has really changed.

In the past, although Li Younan would read books, he mostly read professional books with a specific goal in mind. Not only did he have a clear KPI to achieve, but there were also time limits and fixed quantities to meet.

But today is different. No one is forcing or urging him; he can simply enjoy reading.

This was an unprecedented experience. Although he was distracted while reading and initially felt that the story wasn't very compelling and was even a bit boring, he eventually became engrossed in the leisurely atmosphere.

Then, a similar iced Americano was placed on the table opposite him. A girl asked, "Is this seat taken?"

Li Younan looked up. The girl was tall and radiant, her earrings adorned with sparkling diamonds. Li Younan shook his head: "Nobody's here."

The girl sat down and took out a book, but after reading for a while, she closed it with some dissatisfaction. She stood up, looked around, leaned against the window and looked down for a while, and finally fixed her gaze on Li Younan, who was ignoring her.

She suddenly asked, "Are you a local from Binhai City?" Li Younan looked up and chuckled, "No, why?"

The pretty girl shook her head and said, "I feel you have that kind of temperament."

Li Younan became interested, put down his book, and asked curiously, "What kind of temperament? Do people from Binhai City have a unique temperament?"

The girl's eyebrows furrowed slightly, which looked quite cute. She seemed to have some difficulty in answering Li Younan's question.

She gestured with her hands and said vaguely, "It's that relaxed feeling." Her gaze swept over the other passengers again, and she said, "Don't you think you have a different vibe from everyone else?"

Li Younan laughed. He laughed because not long ago, Yang Ting had said that he had been here for so long and still looked like a country bumpkin from out of town.

Li Younan lowered his head and opened the book again. "Do people from a particular place necessarily have the same temperament as that place? Is that accurate?"

The girl did not respond immediately.

Then Li Younan caught a whiff of a fragrant scent. He looked up in surprise and saw that the girl had already sat down, her face very close to his, her round eyes staring at him.

Then, she said earnestly, "Of course, people from every place have their own unique character."

Li Younan coughed softly, shrank back slightly, and nodded: "Oh."

Seeing Li Younan's skeptical expression, the girl snorted, "I've been to many places, and the people in each place have their own unique personalities."

Then, the girl saw an interested look in Li Younan's eyes, which made her feel somewhat satisfied.

Li Younan put the book down again: "You've been to many places, do you like traveling?"

The girl thought for a moment and said seriously, "I prefer to use the word 'travel.' But compared to the scenery, I actually care more about experiencing the different atmosphere of each place, you know? It's the local people's way of life, their dialect, their unique food, and so on, all of which together create...the atmosphere."

Li Younan smiled and said, "I also really enjoy traveling."

The girl became interested and asked, "So, where have you been?"

Li Younan was quite frank: "I haven't been anywhere yet."

The girl blinked and smiled teasingly: "A thoughtful traveler, huh?"

Li Younan knew that the other person regarded him as the kind of travel enthusiast who only said "The world is so big, I want to see it, but there are so many tomorrows" but he was too lazy to explain and changed the subject.

The surroundings were noisy, and the passengers who came up gathered by the window, took their photos, and then the next group came.

Li Younan chatted with the girl for a while and read a book for a while, while the pleasant sunlight fell on the table.

Travelers who have come from afar quickly check in here, while the guys who come to check in... sit here and enjoy their travel time.

Li Younan was supposed to stay for the full six hours, but the girl clearly didn't intend to stay that long. She stood up and asked curiously, "Do you want to read a little longer?"

Li Younan nodded.

The girl said, "Then take your time looking around." She chuckled softly, revealing a sweet dimple on her face, and said, "Goodbye, thinker."

Li Younan chuckled and waved to the girl, "Goodbye, cultural traveler."

The girl's figure disappeared from sight along with some of the other passengers.

The two did not exchange names or contact information, but tacitly agreed that this encounter was also part of the trip.

Li Younan had some thoughts: perhaps the process of traveling is far more important than the result.
