Chapter 12 The Gift of the Twelve Orc Gods
Chapter 12.12. The Gift of the Orc God
The orc Haug Bloodwolf thoroughly enjoys the feeling of killing other races and raiding villages.
He most enjoyed the exquisite feeling of chopping a battle axe into a human skull, and the exhilarating moment when the warm, crimson liquid splattered on his body.
Yes, humans.
This new species, called "human," appeared on the earth at some unknown time.
According to the tribal high priest who knew the ancient history, many generations ago—perhaps hundreds or thousands of years ago—there was no human species on earth.
At that time, the main enemies that the warriors of the Blood Wolf Clan faced were the elves who possessed amazing swordsmanship and superb magic.
The elves were too powerful. They killed millions of orcs, forcing the Bloodwolf clan to retreat from the fertile and beautiful western lands and move to the eastern valleys.
Later, they encountered a new species called humans.
Compared to those terrifying elves, humans are far too weak.
They possessed neither the goblins' astonishing reproductive ability and agility, nor the orcs' strength, nor the elves' incredible innate magical abilities.
Such a pathetic species, yet it cultivates farmland, raises livestock, and hoards food.
In this wild and desolate land, there lies a wealth that one is powerless to protect.
The orc warriors, defeated in their battle against the elves, discovered for the first time:
So, the enemy can be this weak!
The orcs bared their ferocious fangs.
For the next several hundred years, raiding human villages became a daily routine for the warriors of the Blood Wolf Clan.
They would raid a human village every so often.
But they won't kill everyone, to ensure the next raid is still feasible.
It was as if all the food and livestock that humans had stockpiled were serving the orc tribes.
The tribe's priest once told Hauge this:
"Warriors of the Blood Wolf Clan, slaughter, fight, plunder!"
"Kill those unarmed, weak, and godless creatures. Praise the orc gods with their blood, and sacrifice our gods with their livestock."
"The existence of humanity is a gift bestowed upon us by the orc gods!"
The one-eyed orc god Gruumsh, and the orc pantheon he leads, eternally protect the orc race.
"The orc gods created humankind, providing the orc tribes with an inexhaustible treasure trove for easy plundering and hunting."
—This is something Haug Blood Wolf firmly believes.
Otherwise, how can we explain that among intelligent races, only humans lack the protection of a racial god?
The only thing that has worried Haug a bit in recent years is:
Apart from the Bloodwolf Clan, the other two major orc tribes are less inclined to maintain "sustainable raiding" of human villages.
They destroyed the village outright, lit bonfires to celebrate amidst the burned human ruins, leaving behind only desolation.
"This won't do. Sooner or later, humanity will be wiped out." Haug thought, one of the few intelligent people among the orcs.
Helpless, the Blood Wolf Clan could only intensify their raids, planning to send out more warriors to raid more frequently before all human villages disappeared.
Today is such a day!
Haug followed the priest and the overseer, along with hundreds of orcs, charging straight down from the high mountain.
At the foot of the mountain was a small human village.
According to the plan, they will march straight in, plunder and destroy three human villages in succession, and return to the tribe with spoils and glory!
The warlord sounded the horn, and the orcs sang rousing war songs as they marched in a mighty procession down the mountain.
The village at the foot of the mountain was getting closer and closer.
Suddenly, a sudden feeling of palpitation surged in Haug's heart.
For some reason, Haug suddenly recalled a saying he had heard before. As he ran, he asked the priest beside him:
"By the way, the wise priest, the spokesperson for the orc gods."
"I heard recently that some humans can use magic—like you who possess divine power, or those disgusting, smelly elves. Is that true?"
The orc priest nodded and replied:
"That's true. In the past, some nasty elves taught magic to humans."
Haug Blood Wolf was greatly surprised. He knew the power of magic!
"If humans really do possess magic, why have we never encountered them during our previous raids?"
The orc priest laughed:
"A hundred years ago, those humans who possessed magic moved to the sky and had no relation to the humans on the ground. The humans on the ground were just weak, short, and useless creatures! Faced with our strength, they could do nothing..."
The orc priest didn't finish his sentence.
A bolt of lightning struck him, knocking him off his warg mount.
Crackling!
In an instant, the orc priest who was just laughing became a charred corpse, smoking and with silver lightning crackling across his body.
"what happened?"
"Enemy attack, enemy attack!"
Swish swish!
To the horror of the orc warriors, figures clad in long robes appeared in the air.
Humanity!
They are all human beings.
"A human who can use magic?"
"Why are they here?"
The orc Haug's eyes widened, his body trembled violently, and he glanced at the priest who was already dead on the ground.
"There are only less than 200 orcs. Your Majesty doesn't need to lift a finger. Just take care of them easily."
General Saul calmly gave the order.
Crackling.
The next second, bolts of lightning and flames erupted. A biting cold current swept across the land, turning the orcs into ice sculptures.
Some strong orcs—clearly elite orcs with the "Barbarian" class rank—pulled out javelins, intending to hurl them at the mages in the air.
But as soon as they raised their javelins, they felt their bodies stiffen and become unable to move, as if their blood had frozen.
Body-fixing technique!
The moment they were immobilized, death descended equally upon these orc "barbarians."
Watching his comrades turn into corpses before his eyes, Haug felt a deep sense of despair for the first time.
Damn!
Why would humans with magical abilities come to the surface?
Are humans, these lowly creatures, not gifts created by the orc gods for them to hunt?
"what!"
Amidst screams, a scorching ray pierced Haug's left arm, instantly turning the orc's thick upper arm into ash.
Commander Thor descended from the sky to the ground, looking at the orc Haug who had lost his left arm and was struggling on the ground, and the orc corpses lying haphazardly around him.
"This must be the last one."
"His Majesty said to let him go and return to report the news."
Thor walked up to the orc, who was bleeding profusely, and shouted angrily:
"Get out of here and go back to your tribe."
"Tell all the orcs in your tribe that this is human land. From this day forward, you are not allowed to set foot on human soil!"
"Either comply, or choose to be eliminated by us!"
—This is what Haug, with his missing arm, reported to the chief in trembling as he returned to the tribe.
