1960: My uncle is the FBI Director
Chapter 51, First Supplementary Profile
Chapter 51 First Profiling Supplement (Please continue reading)
The meeting room door was closed, and all the blinds were lowered.
Senator Santos sat dejectedly at the back, with tissues stuffed in his nostrils.
That punch seemed to have made him too calm.
Ricky and Keller came over to talk to him.
Bernie seemed a little restless.
He just punched the senator!
Although the process may be enjoyable, the consequences could be severe.
Theodore tried to comfort him, but he forced an awkward smile. "This time, we might really have to go for the FBI selection."
Ricky's communication with Keller went smoothly, and before leaving, Senator Santos approached Theodore and Bernie.
Bernie immediately stood at attention, looking nervously at Senator Santos.
Senator Santos first told Bernie that he was outmatched and that he didn't have the habit of seeking revenge after losing a fight.
Facing Theodore, he apologized for his impulsiveness in the corridor, and assured him that he would not interfere with the investigation and that others would not dare to interfere either.
But he insisted that the investigation must be thorough and the real culprit must be found.
After receiving Theodore's assurance, Senator Santos moved his lips, then turned and left.
However, today seems destined to be full of unexpected events.
No sooner had Senator Santos left than detectives burst in to inform them that Howard Jr. and Paul Miller had been hit by a car.
Keller was stunned, turning his head blankly to look at Ricky.
The Rickys were dumbfounded.
In that instant, their minds were filled with images of the deaths of Howard Jr. and Paul Miller, and the two of them facing the overwhelming rage of Howard Sr. and Senator Miller.
They've even started seriously considering the possibility of running away.
Bernie asked the two brain-dead guys for details.
The detective simply shook his head; he didn't know the specifics.
The four rushed to the hospital only to find out that he had just narrowly escaped being hit by a car, and that it was just Howard Jr. alone.
Howard Jr. had some abrasions on his back and limbs, which had been bandaged, and he was getting dressed with the help of a nurse.
Paul Miller sat there leisurely, idly plucking the leaves off the green plants one by one.
When Theodore noticed him, he seemed a little embarrassed and quickly put his hands in his pockets, got up and went to the bedside to check on Howard.
Theodore frowned slightly, observing the shy young man discreetly.
Ricky asked the two startled patrol officers what had happened and learned that it was Howard Jr. who had saved the little girl.
After this incident, Ricky and Keller dared not let the two young men go on patrol anymore, even though Howard Jr. repeatedly said he really enjoyed patrolling.
They were detained at the branch office.
After his resistance proved futile, Howard pleaded with Ricky on behalf of the two officers, explaining that his injury was unrelated to them, earning grateful looks from the two officers.
Paul Miller also testified on their behalf that it was Howard Jr. who rushed into the road to save the little girl, and that it had nothing to do with the two patrol officers.
The group looked at Paul Miller strangely, while the introverted young man returned the look with confusion, wondering what he had done wrong again.
Ricky waved his hand, indicating that neither of them would be punished.
The two patrolmen were as if they had been granted a pardon.
…………
In the afternoon, Theodore suggested that Helen Bennett was merely an accomplice hired by the killer and revised his profile. "The killer did not commit murder out of personal grudge, but rather to gain a sense of control by disrupting order. He did not enjoy violence itself, but rather the thrill of manipulating the fates of others."
"The perpetrator was likely a frequent visitor to the police station, with his criminal record frequently showing violent crimes such as arson, animal cruelty, and assaulting police officers."
"This is practice before the killing. The killer derives pleasure from these activities before the killing takes place."
“The killer immediately targeted Teddy Santos, the most suitable suspect, once he appeared.”
"The killer chose the deer-hunting knife that Teddy gave to Howard Jr., not only to make it easier to frame Howard Jr., but also to mock the friendship between the two."
"His choice to frame Howard Jr. was not to escape punishment. That was only a very small part of it."
“His real purpose was to see him wronged and struggling.”
"James Carter, who was a year older than them, often acted like an older brother and had always taken good care of them. The killer chose him to be a witness, to see Howard Jr. commit the murders, and to send his 'brother' to prison."
"As for Emily... this birthday will become a nightmare he will never forget for the rest of his life. Will she dare to hold another birthday party?"
"Helen Bennett is the scapegoat that the murderer carefully prepared for himself."
"The killer may frequently visit the police station or learn about the progress of the investigation through various channels, just to observe our reactions and derive pleasure from our frustration."
“From the birthday party onwards, the entire murder was just an opera that the killer had meticulously prepared, and he was enjoying it all.”
"In order to maintain his sense of control, the killer will not allow any accidents to happen. Whoever has an accident, he will kill without hesitation."
"Dwight Howard Jr. is proof of this."
Howard Jr. was nearly hit by a car while saving a little girl, and to express her gratitude, the little girl's mother went to the hospital with him.
While Ricky and the others were gathered around Howard Jr., Theodore went to talk to the mother and daughter.
The little girl was still sobbing in her mother's arms, her body still shaken. After Theodore's interrogation-style questioning, she tearfully told Theodore that another brother had made her run to the middle of the road.
The older brother warned her that if she didn't do as he said, he would twist the head off her rabbit doll.
The little girl was scolded by her mother for her words, and the mother repeatedly apologized to Theodore, saying that the child was frightened and talking nonsense.
Theodore presented the four-year-old girl's words as testimony, and a brief silence fell over the meeting room.
This is extremely pointed.
It was quickly met with skepticism.
Ricky raised the crucial question: "We screened all the guests, and only Helen Bennett fits your requirements for the murderer."
"He must be between 5 and 6 feet tall, right-handed, have a medical background, know Anthony Howard II, and be familiar with the villa's structure,"
Theodore suggested that the killer had accomplices, a point they did not rule out.
The crux of the matter is that Helen Bennett had the ability to commit the crime but lacked the time, while the others had the time but lacked the ability.
He hoped Theodore could resolve this conflict. Otherwise, the killer could only be an invisible man, an alien, some supernatural being, or a future person with advanced technology.
They had previously been stuck at this very stage.
Theodore glanced into the waiting room.
Little Howard has found some treasure and is sticking his butt out to share it with Paul Miller.
Paul Miller sat in his chair, his smile reserved, seemingly listening intently with his head tilted to the side.
Only after Howard Jr. started laughing heartily, bending over with laughter, did he join in a slow, deliberate laugh.
