The rain is still falling.

The area around the floodlit stadium was dark, and there wasn't a soul in sight.

Yang Jinwen ran towards the rain, but after only two steps, he stopped, turned around, took off his raincoat, and draped it over Jiang Yan.

Jiang Yan looked at his face and blinked.

Yang Jinwen grabbed her wrist and said, "Come with me."

Jiang Yan immediately broke free from his hand: "Let me see your ID!"

Yang Jinwen was furious. Where did he, a trainee police officer, get his credentials?

"You're in danger right now. If you don't come with me, those thugs will come looking for trouble again. What will you do then?"

Jiang Yan shook her head: "I'll wait here, I'm not going with you!"

"Okay, be careful!" Yang Jinwen nodded and quickly ran into the rain.

Ten minutes ago, there were many people skating and cooling off at the floodlit stadium, but now there isn't a single person in sight.

Yang Jinwen ran towards the woods on the left. He had only run about a hundred meters when he saw the young man that Jiang Hong had brought, holding a flashlight, squatting behind a cluster of ornamental plants.

Yang Jinwen was very familiar with this person. Before he even arrived, he shouted, "Brother Yu, what's going on?"

Without waiting for a reply, Yang Jinwen could already see a woman lying on her side in a pool of blood in the beam of his flashlight.

She had her hair tied in a ponytail, and a red roller skate lay on the grass beside her. Her dimples were gone.

Her throat was slashed open in a horrifying way, and blood kept seeping out.

Her palms and fingernails were covered in mud, her face was pale, and her pupils were dilated.

She was wearing the raincoat that Zheng Kang was wearing, and large raindrops were pattering against the raincoat.

Yang Jinwen's eyes were blank, and he asked somewhat dazedly, "She..."

Fang Yu nodded and replied solemnly, "The person is already dead."

Yang Jinwen swallowed hard: "Where...where is my master?"

Fang Yu pointed the beam of his flashlight toward nine o'clock: "Section Chief and Captain Zheng have gone to chase the murderer."

Yang Jinwen snatched the flashlight from his hand and ran towards the other side, wading through the rain.

Rain fell on his head, and into his eyes...

He kept running, holding his breath, his mind racing.

Everything has changed!
This case did not develop according to the expected trajectory!

The butterfly flapped its wings!

------------------

On the other side, Zheng Kang continued to chase the dark figure ahead along the park wall.

The dark figure was moving very fast, and because of the heavy rain, his vision was blurred.

He dared not close his eyes, for fear that if he did, the shadowy figure would vanish.

Jiang Hong followed behind him and saw the dark figure turn a corner to the left. He quickly shouted, "Old Zheng, I'll go intercept him!"

At this moment, Zheng Kang lost one of his shoes, so he simply threw away the other shoe and stepped barefoot into the rain.

--------------

Fifteen minutes ago.

Zheng Kang, holding a walkie-talkie, paced around the edge of the floodlit stadium, keeping an eye on any suspicious individuals who resembled Li Chao.

Even after most of the skaters had left, he still hadn't spotted Li Chao.

Besides, he had only seen Li Chao's photo briefly, and his appearance was very different from the real person. It's not necessarily true that he could immediately recognize the person just by looking at the photo.

But Zheng Kang suddenly remembered Yang Jinwen's assessment of the suspect's characteristics.

The suspect is between 163cm and 165cm tall, weighs no more than 55kg, and is of slender build.

Zheng Kang quickly seized upon this feature, standing in the rain, constantly turning his body around as if he were in the vortex of a storm, keeping a close eye on the people passing by.

A man who is close to 164cm tall is impossible to estimate accurately by sight, and several people with similar height and build walked past him.

Zheng Kang tried to identify each person, but none of them were Li Chao.

It wasn't until a piercing scream came from the direction of the ornamental plants that Zheng Kang immediately realized the danger. He rushed over and found the girl lying on the ground.

Her throat had just been slit open, and blood was gushing out.

Zheng Kang immediately squatted down and blocked her throat with his hand, but it was no use. The girl struggled for a couple of seconds and then stopped breathing.

Zheng Kang was stunned for several seconds before taking off his raincoat and covering her with it.

At the same time, a dark figure darted out from behind the ornamental plants.

Zheng Kang gritted his teeth and chased after him like a cheetah!

------------

After running for several minutes, Yang Jinwen saw Jiang Hong hurriedly turning back from the front.

He met Yang Jinwen at the edge of the floodlit stadium. Without stopping, he suddenly turned to the right and almost slipped and knelt on the ground.

He pointed in the direction Yang Jinwen had come from: "Hurry up and chase him! The murderer ran in that direction. Come with me and intercept him!"

Yang Jinwen quickly turned around, and the two of them ran forward one after the other.

A moment later, they heard Zheng Kang shouting.

Under the streetlights of the management office, which is actually a prefabricated building, Zheng Kang stood in the pouring rain, his right hand pressed against his lower back and his left hand raised forward.

Zheng Kang squinted slightly, raindrops streaming down his face, and shouted, "I'm warning you, release him!"

Opposite him, under the eaves of the prefab house, a man in a raincoat had one arm around Jiang Yan's neck and his right hand holding a fruit knife, the tip of which was pressed against her throat.

"Get the hell out of my way, get out!"

"If you dare come any closer, I'll stab her to death!"

Seeing Yang Jinwen and Jiang Hong running towards them through the rain, the man immediately turned Jiang Yan around so she was facing them.

Jiang Yan struggled in his arms as the knife tip pierced her skin, drawing out a drop of blood that landed on the blade, only to be immediately washed away by the rainwater from under the eaves.

"Help, help me..." Jiang Yan kept swallowing, her hands clinging to the man's arms.

"Damn it, if you move again, I'll kill you, I'll kill you!" The man held her tightly, threatening her.

Zheng Kang was afraid that the girl would die in front of him again, so he began to compromise: "Calm down, don't be impulsive, we can talk about it slowly."

The man was pale and his face was covered in rain. He yelled, "I don't want to talk to you! Get out of here!"

"I'll only count to three. If you don't leave, I'll kill her right now! I've killed several people already, one more won't make a difference!"

Jiang Hong didn't dare to utter a sound. He stood there, coldly staring at the man, raising his hands in front of him as if he were about to pounce forward.

Yang Jinwen gripped the flashlight in his hand and slowly moved behind Zheng Kang.

Zheng Kang tried to negotiate: "Kid, release him, and we might treat you leniently..."

"one!"

The man completely ignored Zheng Kang's words and shouted out the numbers.

Jiang Yan, who was in his arms, went limp and almost slipped to the ground. She looked at Yang Jinwen helplessly, like a lamb waiting to be slaughtered in a sheepfold.

"two!"

The man gritted his teeth, then grinned maliciously, "I'm a madman. Even if you arrest me, you can't shoot me, hahaha..."

Zheng Kang's eyes were sharp and unblinking, his whole body tense. He had already unholstered his gun with his right hand, his fingers trembling slightly.

"Three!" the man roared.

Before he could finish speaking, Zheng Kang was about to draw his gun, but his right hand grasped nothing!

He quickly turned around and saw Yang Jinwen rapidly pull back the safety of his pistol, his left hand held horizontally in front of his chest, and push the button on the flashlight.

Just as the man was about to plunge a knife into Jiang Yan's neck, a beam of bright light shone directly into his eyes.

Before the man could even look away, Yang Jinwen gripped the gun in his right hand, quickly braced his wrist against his left arm, and pulled the trigger without hesitation!

"Bang, bang, bang!"

Gunshots rang out, and three bullets pierced the rain, striking the man in the head.

The man's eyes widened, his gaze blank and empty, and he leaned back...
