Chapter 375 The Tower of the White Elephant

Chapter 375 The Tower of the White Elephant
The White Elephant Tower No. 5 is one of the six wizard towers in the Land of Six Towers. Each of the six white towers has a different animal shape.

Tower #1 is a white lion tower, Tower #2 is a white dragon tower, Tower #3 is a white dog tower, Tower #4 is a white cow tower, and Tower #6 is a white horse tower.

The six towers share the same basic function, but their roles differ slightly, and they are structures that have existed for at least three thousand years.

Therefore, when Locke followed the Philaid family and walked along the spiral stone staircase outside the White Elephant Tower towards the inner passage, he could see many traces of time in the details of the White Elephant Tower.

On each of the various magical stones in the White Elephant Tower, there are traces of blood, some kind of rust, or some kind of mark of being bombarded by magic.

It is covered with ancient traces that can only be left by the passage of time.

Even the wizards of the Six Towers Land today don't know what this ancient white elephant tower has been through.

Over the long years, this giant wizard tower has had several different owners, and its uses have been completely different.

As the host, Wizard Anthony led Locke up 6000 steps of the white tower, a total height of 1,000 meters, and finally entered the bottom entrance of the white elephant tower, stepping inside.

The interior of the White Elephant Tower is like a massive, incredibly complex building. In the center, there are floating staircases crafted by alchemists, allowing wizards to freely ascend, descend, and move around the central hub of the White Elephant Tower.

The height of the White Elephant Tower is an astonishing 50km.

Locke learned from Anthony that the White Elephant Tower was 20km above the ground, which was incredible, equivalent to passing directly through the troposphere and stratosphere from the ground.

But the White Elephant Tower is even deeper underground, reaching a depth of 30km.

The Elephant Tower itself is a huge mining facility. A large number of ordinary miners, and even wizard miners, would transport the mined ore underground to the White Elephant Tower, and then the White Elephant Tower would transfer it to the surface.

It can be said that the six towers not only protect the wizards of the Six Towers Land at all times, but also serve as the main passage connecting the surface and the underground.

As the host, Wizard Anthony enthusiastically introduced the White Elephant Tower to Locke. He was extremely pleased and, holding up an elephant-headed scepter, whispered, "Junior brother, this elephant-headed scepter of mine can represent the person in charge of the Philaid family to activate some of the White Elephant Tower's permissions."

"Of course, to fully activate the White Elephant Tower, one must obtain a drop of blood from a pure-blooded wizard of the Philaid family and a pure-blooded wizard of the two ruling families."

"If the ruling family does not have the blood of the Philaid family, they must use a drop of blood from at least twenty pure-blood wizards from middle-ranking noble families in order to fully utilize the Tower of the White Elephant."

Anthony explained, "The fully-equipped White Elephant Tower is terrifying. It only requires the guidance of a Crystallization Wizard, and even a second-ring wizard cannot break through it."

"According to the Plutarch family, as long as the six white faith towers in the Six Towers Land are fully activated at the same time, and each wizard faith tower is presided over by at least one crystallized first-ring wizard, they can withstand the attack of a third-ring wizard."

Wizard Anthony said to Locke, "Therefore, for the wizards of the Six Towers, pure-blood wizards are so important, because the bloodline of a pure-blood wizard can activate the six towers."

Locke nodded in agreement and observed the interior furnishings of the White Elephant Tower.

Inside the White Elephant Tower, it was as if countless intricate mechanical units were operating at high speed, with miners and wizards performing their respective duties.

Once they stand on the floating steps, another 5km up is the location of the White Elephant Magic Gem University.

The style changes again, with areas for schooling, laboratories, mineral analysis, and bloodline research.

It is clearly the style of academic research.

Continuing up another 5km, the area transitions into a residential zone, featuring many beautiful ecological landscapes. These include living areas resembling ocean views, beaches, or tropical rainforests, offering a diverse range of styles. Further up is the location where the [White Elephant Magic Gem University] hosts its Magic Gem Feast.

Locke nodded slightly. It seemed that these six white towers were the most important resource in the Land of Six Towers. Whoever controlled them would have power.

This giant wizard tower is a multi-functional building, essentially a skyscraper, with many interior spaces used for different purposes.

Along the way, they ascended inside the Tower of Babel by stepping on the floating steps, while some wizards also descended from above by stepping on the floating steps.

When they meet, the wizards can greet each other because they are not moving very fast.

Many wizarding students and professional wizards, upon seeing the Philaid family members, would immediately address them as Dean/Director/Sir in a fawning manner. Even Locke was addressed as Mentor by several wizarding students.

Those wizard apprentices who were very good at socializing and especially at currying favor had begun to sized up Locke, and from the Philaid family's attitude towards Locke, they could tell that Locke's status in the Philaid family was definitely not low.

Some wizarding students have even begun planning how to curry favor with this new wizard who has suddenly entered the White Elephant Tower.

On the floating steps, Peggy interjected, "So, our Six Towers only need to maintain six Crystallized First-Ring Wizards to be an impregnable fortress."

"It can save us a lot of money, so we don't have to worry about our safety like other wizarding lands. Whether it's dark wizards, natural disasters, or a riot of magical creatures on the ground, we can suppress them with the six white towers."

"Moreover, our Six Towers region has countless mineral resources. We only need to sell raw ore to the outside world to obtain a continuous source of funds. We don't need to compete with others for projects at all."

Peggy spoke with extreme arrogance, “Our Six Towers Land is blessed with abundant resources, which is why there are no dark wizards here.”

"Even if there are no second-ring wizards in the Six Towers Land, we are still not afraid of other wizarding lands."

Locke finally understood why the Land of the Six Towers was the way it was now.

This place doesn't need to worry about defense or resources, because mining its underground veins is a massive, natural project. As a result, the wizards here don't have the same level of intense competition as wizards in other wizarding lands.

This should have been a good thing.

But this comfort undoubtedly fostered a certain mindset among some of the wizards here, causing them to shift from the pursuit of truth to the pursuit of power.

Even more remarkably, Peggy, a first-ring wizard, actually said something as outrageous as saying that the Land of the Six Towers didn't need second-ring wizards.

Wizard Anthony laughed and said, "Locke, it is said that these are not the true abilities of the White Elephant Tower. This ancient building has such a long history that we no longer know what it can do."

"It is said that the wizards of our Six Towers Land only have the right to use these six wizard towers, and have never had real management rights. Of course, this is just a legend."

The wizard Anthony said, "I had the privilege of meeting and speaking with the great wizard Sura. He was a truly wise old man, and his words always gave me new knowledge."

"He told me that those family wizards in the Land of Six Towers who believed that the six white towers were only entitled to use and not to manage them were probably over-mythologizing the six wizard towers."

Anthony the wizard said, "This is like some wizards saying that we wizards can only control our hands and feet, but cannot command our brains to stop certain bodily endocrine cycles or stop the secretion of certain hormones, so we only have the right to use our bodies, but not the right to truly manage them."

"It's a metaphor with a unique perspective, but it doesn't have much practical significance."
