Chapter 14 Peach Blossom Village
Chapter 14 Peach Blossom Village (Part 12)
After learning that Zhao Liu had escaped, the clan chief found Zhao the Blind, who, along with a few young men, began to cause trouble. First, they pickled vegetables and delivered them to Wang Zhu at the county hospital, but Wang's obsession remained. Then they dug up the ground and planted the vegetables they were supposed to plant that day, but still, Wang's obsession persisted.
Next, they brutally beat up Wang Nai's family. They found photos of Wang Nai when she was young, and they changed her clothes ten times over, but nothing could dispel her obsession. In the end, everyone else gave up, leaving only Zhao the Blind, who valued good karma over his own life.
Zhao the Blind said, "I've decided to follow her tonight and see what she really wants."
Ding Shi nodded: "Okay, see you tomorrow, Uncle Zhao."
Blind Zhao grabbed Ding Shi's clothes: "I think you're pretty clever. If you hang out with your Uncle Zhao tonight, I'll share half the good karma with you."
Ding Shi chuckled and said, "Uncle Zhao, besides good deeds, is there anything more practical to add?"
Blind Zhao took out a talisman: "Concealing Talisman, can deceive weak ghosts and monsters, making them unable to detect your presence."
Ding Shi opened the talisman and glanced at it: "It's fake."
Blind Zhao was shocked: "How did you know?"
Ding Shi had seen a simple introduction to talismans in the Ghost Treatise and said, "All talismans must be drawn in one stroke. Your talisman is drawn in a messy and disjointed way."
Zhao the Blind Man chuckled awkwardly, took back the fake talisman, and said with a glint in his eye, "If you help me tonight, I'll tell you where Third Sister is."
Ding Shi asked, "Why do I need to know where San Niang is?" She's the boss, after all. Besides, the village chronicle says that San Niang is buried under the San Niang Temple.
Zhao the Blind said in a low voice, "Third Sister possesses a great treasure, a celestial artifact belonging to that immortal Taoist. Otherwise, how do you think she could have suppressed a zombie before the temple was completed?"
Ding Shi said, "Do you think I'd dig up the Third Sister Temple?"
Zhao the Blind said, "No, the true form of Third Sister is not under the temple."
Ding Shi asked, "Where is it?"
Zhao the Blind said, "You help me, I'll help you."
Ding Shi didn't believe it: "If I take the treasure, won't Third Sister slaughter this village?"
Zhao the Blind said, "As long as you are bold enough and only take the treasure, there will be no problem."
Ding Shi still didn't believe it, so Blind Zhao further said, "The treasure is on the back of Third Sister's coffin lid; it's a jade plaque about the size of a playing card."
Ding Shi's pupils contracted as he recalled the skill card for the three-player mahjong game. To the three aunties, this card was just a jade tablet about the size of a playing card. But to him, the player, it was a skill card.
Ding Shi only obtained the "Three Missing One" skill when his three aunts were bankrupt. Since it was a skill acquired through playing mahjong, the "Three Missing One" skill is more entertainment-oriented. Following this logic, the skill card he obtained by crawling into his aunt's coffin is most likely a combat-oriented skill card.
Was Zhao the Blind Man lying? Ding Shi felt that part of it was true, at least the position of the cards was true, otherwise he wouldn't have said that he was talking about the size of the playing cards.
Damn it, I cursed Li Si for messing around the day before yesterday, I cursed Zhao Liu for messing around the day before yesterday, and it seems like I'm going to mess around the day too. This won't do, will it? This isn't right, will it? My conscience will hurt, won't it?
Zhao the Blind added, "Third Sister's coffin is not underground, but in a grotto."
Does this save the excavation process?
Ding Shi asked, "How can I help you?" If Zhao the Blind dared to play tricks on him, he would dare to confront him.
Zhao the Blind took out a brass bell and said, “I want to follow Grandma Wang closely. Grandma Wang will not attack me unless I block her way, or I take what she wants, or what she wants is similar to what I have.”
Ding Shi said, "And you will use things to experiment, in order to determine what her obsession is."
Blind Zhao nodded: "For example, if I'm holding the jar and she becomes hostile towards me, then her obsession is related to the jar. You keep an eye on things from a distance, and if I'm attacked, you ring the bell to lure her away." Ding Shi asked, "What about me?"
Zhao the Blind said, "She will only go to the place where the bell makes a sound, she won't chase after you."
Ding Shi: "It's a deal."
……
Night had fallen, and apart from Grandma Wang's house, no lights could be seen in the entire village. The villagers had already heard about Grandma Wang's situation, and tonight everyone had locked their doors tightly; even the night patrol had canceled its daily work.
At 11 p.m., Ghost Grandma appeared in front of the Wang family's gate. Suddenly, Blind Zhao remembered something and whispered, "I forgot she has a grandson. She'll go find him first."
Ghost Grandma turned to look at Blind Zhao and Ding Shi, and the two quickly leaned back, pressing themselves against the outer wall of Cuihua's house to avoid Ghost Grandma's gaze.
After waiting a moment, Zhao the Blind and Ding Shi peered into the Wang family's gate, only to be met with the ghostly grandmother standing right in front of them. Ding Shi nearly screamed, his soul nearly leaving his body.
Zhao the Blind reacted very quickly, throwing the copper bell he was holding behind Ghost Grandma. Ghost Grandma grabbed Zhao the Blind by the neck, then, hearing the bell ring behind her, immediately released Zhao the Blind and floated towards the sound of the bell.
Ding Shi picked up Zhao the Blind and ran, stopping behind a tree: "What happened? Why did she attack you?"
After catching his breath, Zhao the Blind Man said, "The things on my body are related to her obsession."
Ding looked at Blind Zhao; he carried a bag and wore gray clothes. Looking at himself, he realized that apart from not having a bag, he was no different from Blind Zhao.
Blind Zhao peeked out and waved for Ding Shi to follow Ghost Milk, while he went to retrieve the bell. The moonlight was bright tonight, and visibility was high. The two followed Ghost Milk for about 20 meters, watching it drift towards the school.
Ding Shi wanted to curse. "Sun Qi, you idiot! I've explained it to you so clearly, how could you still dare to take in Zhao Liu?"
The teachers' dormitory at the primary school was a row of four brick and stone houses, and Sun Qi's room was the fourth one.
Ghost Milk floated slowly to the outside of Sun Qi's room and stood quietly at the door. If someone opened the door at this moment, it would be a great surprise.
While waiting, Ding Shi pointed to the neck of Zhao the Blind Man that had been choked by the Ghost Grandmother and raised an eyebrow: "Was he strong?"
Zhao the Blind Man felt a small twig on the ground, broke it off with one hand, and told Ding Shi that his neck was this small twig in front of the Ghost Grandma.
Blind Zhao held the bell in one hand, his fingers pressing down on the wick. Ding Shi did the same, looking at Blind Zhao with a knowing glance: How long is it going to stand there?
Zhao the Blind shook his head, and the two squatted behind the hibiscus tree to continue watching.
After standing at the door for about 10 minutes, Ghost Grandma stretched out her right hand and knocked four times on the door. After waiting for a while and receiving no response, Ghost Grandma knocked four more times. A chair fell over inside, and Ghost Grandma's hunched back straightened instantly, her face turning a sinister green.
Ding Shi whispered in Zhao the Blind's ear, "Is it okay if we don't open the door?"
Zhao the Blind whispered in Ding Shi's ear: "Relatives, attachments, no good."
Ding Shi nodded. Zhao the Blind meant that there were close relatives in the room, as well as the things that the Ghost Milk wanted. With the double buff, the door couldn't stop the Ghost Milk.
Ghost Milk suddenly turned around and looked at the hibiscus tree. The two people behind the hibiscus tree immediately lowered their heads, as if she wouldn't notice them as long as they didn't look at her.
Perhaps because she was fixated on Zhao Liu, Gui Nai ignored the two people and continued knocking on the door, noticeably increasing the force of her knocking.
Ding Shi felt some sympathy for Sun Qi; the girl must be terrified right now.
