Ling Cage: I come from Hisakawa
Chapter 167 The mystery of identity
Chapter 167 The mystery of identity
Lighthouse, archives.
“It was around that time that I discovered the secret that Lord Grey had kept hidden his whole life.” Flynn stopped abruptly, only smiling at Morgan.
Morgan frowned: "What secret?"
Human civilization has been destroyed, so what secrets could a teacher possibly keep? What does this have to do with whether I've mistaken my teacher for someone else?
Besides, who else could be the teacher who could pass the triple biometric recognition of a gravity body?
Morgan was completely baffled.
He turned to look at Flynn, only to find Flynn giving him a sly smile.
"Want to know what the secret is?"
Flynn said with a grin, "Simple, apologize to me and release me immediately!"
"Also, assign me three breeding missions a week in the Hall of Dawn, and let me choose my own breeding partners." Flynn's expression turned lecherous.
Snapped!
Morgan raised his cane and tapped Flynn on the head.
Flynn was startled and quickly dodged, but the cane finally landed on Ash's body with a crisp sound.
"I didn't kill you because you're still useful to the Lighthouse!" Morgan said angrily. "Just for what you did to Mavis, I should have ground you to dust!"
"Is Mavis's situation my fault?" Flynn retorted.
He said in a deep voice, "If you hadn't insisted on your own way and forcibly implemented the bullshit Three Laws, eliminated the family relationships of the old world, and separated Mayve from her family, would she have thought of connecting with Croto to find a solution? Doesn't she know how dangerous this is?"
"Who exactly harmed Meiwei?"
"Is it me?!"
Flynn roared.
The loud noise echoed in the cramped archive room, and Morgan trembled, his face turning ashen.
Victor was startled.
He quickly took out water and medicine bottles and fed Morgan the medicine.
“Shut up, Flynn!” Victor snapped. “You know Maeve’s matter has always been a scar on his heart!”
Flynn gave a cold laugh.
He said dismissively, "I've been locked up in the archives for decades, while the city lord is living a life of luxury outside. Can't I even speak a few words of truth?"
"Morgan, I'll fuck your mother!!!"
Morgan has recovered after taking the medication.
He stared at Flynn's face, his eyes incredibly dark, almost dripping with malice.
Flynn didn't care at all.
He recklessly declared, "Go ahead and kill me if you dare! I'm locked up here every day anyway, there's no point in living!"
"When we get down there and meet Honglu, Hongkou, and Drake, the four of us can even make a mahjong table!"
Flynn grabbed a pen and paper from the table and threw them at Morgan.
Victor rushed forward, using his body to block the flying debris, then shoved Flynn into a chair, pulled out shackles, and handcuffed Flynn's hands.
Zheng! Zheng!
Flynn struggled a few times, the shackles making a cold, rattling sound.
"hehe."
He scoffed, "You're a good dog, Victor."
Victor curled his lip.
He replied, "In any case, Morgan did not let the lighthouse fall, nor will he in the foreseeable future. He has proven himself to be the lord the lighthouse needs."
Victor glanced at Morgan without making a sound.
He actually felt a bit sorry for Flynn.
It's hard to say whether the Three Laws are right or wrong, but when Maeve got into trouble, the responsibility certainly doesn't lie entirely with Flynn.
Morgan will bear a large part of the responsibility.
Flynn was imprisoned in the archives for decades for helping Maeve and Croto connect their brains. While this was partly due to Flynn's refusal to admit his mistake, a closer look at the whole story reveals that Flynn was indeed wronged.
“I can’t apologize to you,” Morgan said somberly, “and I certainly can’t assign you breeding tasks.”
Victor remained silent.
When the three laws were promulgated, in order to maintain stability, the leaders of the Lighthouse, the city defense army, and the hunters did not undergo genetic screening and directly obtained the status of upper-class citizens.
Flynn was the same.
Flynn's genes might be those of a Dustman, and he's too old to perform breeding tasks, so Morgan wouldn't show any weakness towards Flynn.
"You can tell me that secret if you want, or you can leave it at that. I don't care to know anyway."
Morgan took a deep breath and turned to leave.
With his back to Flynn, he said, “The Lighthouse won’t fall because of a secret that no one has known for decades, and you’re going to be locked up in the archives for the rest of your life. If you really want to die, just kill yourself. You don’t deserve to waste the city’s garrison’s bullets.”
Flynn laughed heartily.
He shouted, "Morgan, how do you know the Lighthouse won't fall because of this secret? It was fine before because that person hadn't come, but now that person has arrived!"
"The situation is different now!"
Morgan walked out of the archives, and the door closed automatically.
Victor looked up and glanced at Morgan's expression, noticing that Morgan's brows were furrowed and he seemed lost in thought.
"Are you alright?" Victor asked with concern.
Morgan nodded. "I'm fine. I was just thinking about what Flynn said. Call Gordon to my office later. He might know something."
Victor nodded: "Okay." *Rat-a-tat-tat-tat—*
The sound of high heels echoed in the corridor, and a woman approached: "Lord City Lord, the hunters have returned. They have also made contact with the ground personnel. The situation is somewhat unusual, and Commander-in-Chief Jingnan is unsure how to handle it. Please come over."
Morgan and Victor exchanged a glance.
“Okay, I’ll be right there,” Morgan replied.
The woman turned and left.
ground personnel
A white-haired figure floated into Morgan's mind.
He murmured, "Do you think my decision was right? We met that woman on this very continent back then. Could it be that same woman again this time?"
“Don’t worry, the lighthouse is in the sky. If we find out it’s that woman, we’ll just avoid contact,” Victor said in a low voice.
"If we can find a way to survive on the ground this time, it will be a good thing for the lighthouse."
Morgan nodded slowly.
The two recent detections of ground personnel activity were confirmed by the air traffic control center, and we should make contact with them regardless.
Besides, decades have passed; that white-haired woman might be dead by now.
“Stay vigilant,” Morgan said.
"The lighthouse cannot withstand external risks. No matter how the people on the ground survived, their values must be very different from ours. When we first come into contact with them, we should assume the worst about them."
Victor nodded: "I understand. Shall we proceed with the containment procedures?"
Long ago, under Gray's leadership, the Lighthouse frequently received survivors from the ground. They encountered a group of malicious armed men, which resulted in many deaths. After that, the Lighthouse tightened its containment policy and became more cautious.
Later, almost all the people on the ground died out.
The Lighthouse has never found any survivors on the ground, and containment procedures have not been initiated for many years.
Morgan shook his head.
He said slowly, "Times have changed. One or two people are fine, but if there are hundreds or thousands, the Lighthouse can't conjure up extra resources to support them, and they may not be able to adapt to the Three Laws."
Victor said it.
He replied, "Then we should focus on getting to know each other, sharing intelligence, and not initiating containment procedures."
“Let’s go.” Morgan nodded slightly.
In the navigation control room, everyone looked at each other in bewilderment.
Jing Nan couldn't help but ask, "The ground forces are familiar with Bai Yuetian. They initially refused to provide support, but when they heard that Bai Yuetian was also there, they immediately set off?"
Sizzle—
"Yes," Mark's voice came through the communication channel.
“I asked Bai Yuetian, but he didn’t answer me directly. He only said that they did know each other. However, I saw the words ‘Kuchuan Defense’ on the hovercar. I think this ground force may be related to Kuchuan City in the old world.”
"At least their equipment comes from Hisakawa City."
Mark paused for a moment, then said, "There's another strange thing. I haven't seen any of the ground forces yet. They're all robots. They were the ones who caused the commotion in the core ecological area last time."
Jingnan's brows were tightly furrowed.
She was deeply impressed by Bai Yuetian.
Not long ago, she had breakfast with the city lord and discussed some official business.
Bai Yuetian visited without an appointment, but the city lord actually received her, so she had no choice but to leave.
Later, she wandered around outside, intending to go back and pack up the leftovers to avoid waste, only to be told that Bai Yuetian had eaten all her food.
She came to her senses.
"Isn't Bai Yuetian the ground survivor you found from the hibernation pod? How could he have connections with a ground force? That's too much of a coincidence."
Jingnan frowned.
Mark replied, "The place where we found White Moonlight was covered in dust, and the gate outside was closed. It really looked like no one had been here for decades. I'm a little confused myself."
Mark recalls the scene of his first meeting with Bai Yuetian.
He had never seen Bai Yuetian's hibernation pod, but the place they explored was a closed facility. It took them a lot of effort to pry open the outermost door. The corridor was covered in thick dust, and it looked like no one had visited it for decades.
“But I’m certain that Bai Yuetian holds a very high position within this ground force,” Mark said.
"In order to save him, this ground force did not hesitate to use its precious airship as a disposable bomb."
Jingnan was stunned.
A hovercar?
A disposable bomb?
The biggest weakness of the Devouring Beasts is their inability to fly, which is also the foundation upon which the Lighthouse depends for its survival.
Any flying vehicle is of strategic significance and is extremely valuable.
Who exactly is Bai Yuetian? How could he make that ground force use the airship as a bomb, wasting it to such an outrageous degree?
"And then I remembered something."
Mark added, "Decades ago, when the disaster first broke out, wasn't the mayor of Hisakawa City also surnamed Shiro?"
He led the hunters to explore many places.
He occasionally saw reports about Hisakawa, the epicenter of the disaster, in the newspapers, and he still remembered some of the details.
“I will investigate,” Jingnan replied.
"Are you almost there? The radar has detected an unfamiliar signal approaching rapidly. Is that you?"
Inside the hovercar, Mark looked ahead through the window.
In the clouds not far away, a huge outline appeared and disappeared, like an inverted giant ship in the sky.
"Yes, it's us."
